  1. So who shares DH duty with Kenny Vargas? I know it will not be Stubbs, just curious.
  2. I seriously hope the FO was not the source and asked not to be named as the source of the earlier report and then they back peddled when they looked like complete noobs. I will say this much, the new FO made 1 possibly good move in signing Castro. It might just be me, but if I am taking over a new organization I would want to make a bunch of minor deals and hope to catch lightning in a bottle and be able to flip a couple of those players to help a rebuild.
  3. Makes you wonder about how the Dozier to LA talks went down.
  4. That makes absolutely no sense to just release him if he clears waivers. I would at least give him until mid May to early June to see if he can turn it around. You have to give him a chance since the money is guaranteed. Unless the new FO thinks they are trying to trick teams into not claiming him by saying that they will release him. Pay $9.75M for 3 years or $1.5M for 3 years. It would make a team like Tampa maybe pass and save the money and gamble he can produce. Last note on this, if the FO is trying to bluff teams like this we are gonna be in a world of hurt if this is their plan. I don't want to guess what the next thing would be. Maybe a 4 year extension for Danny Santana is next...
  5. This move doesn't do much for me in the least. I felt Pat Light had a huge upside but needed time to work out the kinks. I would not be shocked to see a team offer the Twins a player for Light if they want him and are not on top of waiver list.
  6. Maybe the Twins blow us away and make Sano the DH right now and slide Polanco to 3rd since Dozier is staying put.
  7. Tampa might be willing to make a claim if not a deal so they can get him for a PTBNL. Maybe the Twins eat some of the money and get a lottery ticket type player in return.
  8. If he is plugged into the Dodgers wouldn't anything he puts out be making the Twins look like greedy pigs? I can't see them saying that they did agree on JDL & Alvarez but the Twins demand for a greater 3rd piece could not be met. Kind of like when someone you know gets fired from work for whatever reason and he says he quit. You will never hear the truth.
  9. I highly doubt we will get anything more than what we got today. To be honest, did we ever hear what the Twins turned down for NYY & Boston in the Santana trade talks? There were a ton of great names rumored and would have loved to hear what was Boston's best offer they had on the table.
  10. So where does Mauer belong in the lineup? He should be either leadoff or bat 8th. No way should he be 3-6 in any lineup.
  11. I don't think there is much left in him. Still waiting for the day they bring him back into the organization in some capacity.
  12. Just read article on MLB trade rumors about a possible reunion. Does Kennys Vargas still have a minor league option left? You know the money would not exceed $2.5M and could split DH with Park and they both could take some AB's away from Mauer at first to keep him fresh. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/01/twins-justin-morneau-interested-in-reunion.html
  13. I feel it is Napoli just for the veteran leadership and a player they hope will have value at the deadline to flip. Too bad the team gets no veteran leadership out of a player who has been in the majors since 2004. Just keep telling yourself only 2 more years left and this is over.
  14. Not really sure it is up to any manager what a pitchers role is on the team. Also, does May have an option remaining so he could possibly start the season in Rochester to make sure he will be stretched out enough to go 6+ innings?
  15. Sadly, I feel as you are correct with your prediction. Park looked great to start the year until his injuries took the season away from him. What I really liked about Park is that he was taking the time to study all the pitchers so he would have a better chance at the plate. I would think a 30+ hr season could be a real possibility for Park if given playing time.
  16. This will turn out to be the second mistake the new FO makes if they sign Mike Napoli to be the DH. Sure he would bring the veteran leadership this team needs. But signing him just to try to flip him at the deadline or earlier is not a great idea. Let a healthy Park & Vargas fight it out for the spot of DH. As for the veteran leadership that is needed on this team shouldn't it be coming from Joe Mauer?
  17. My guess would because of the bad contracts on the books they can't unload and have chose not to eat as one reason.
  18. I agree, I see a .248 average and 34 home runs. The Dodgers were smart to trade for Forysythe.
  19. Another reason for the Twins asking for the additional players in the proposed trade. http://www.espn.com/fantasy/baseball/story/_/page/mlbranks_offseason/fantasy-baseball-rankings-top-mlb-players-every-position I will spoil it for the people who don't want to look. Dozier #27 over all players Forsythe #166. Dozier listed as 3rd best 2b behind Jose Altuve & Trea Turner who will the Nationals shortstop in 2017.
  20. That lends to what Dave was hearing from his source. I can't believe they would have turned down a JDL + Alvarez + PTBNL. FO tried to hard to hit a grand slam with their first deal with nobody on base. Good thing for them ownership doesn't seem concerned about the baseball aspect of the game, just the cash.
  21. I could have made this a topic a long time ago but figured it would get crushed for negative and against the Twins.
  22. Great talent no doubt about that, but I would like a player that could be ready in 2 years instead of 4. The Twins seem to chase the high school talent so I am lost on what they would do.
  23. So if the Twins are rated #11 now doesn't that mean they have practically failed in the draft with all the high picks they had in the last few years? I understand with Buxton & Berrios off the prospect list they would move down. It just shows that hopefully the new brass has some better ideas with the upcoming draft.
  24. I would have to say purely sine he is in his first year of arbitration so he is cheaper. Just my guess, but he would not command as much as Dozier would. If anything it is starting to sound like Kinsler would not be objecting to a trade to LA according to my link below. I just find it odd that Detroit would want to deal him when they are contending now. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/01/tigers-notes-kinsler-zimmermann-center-field-gose.html
  25. Maybe a playoff roster but how far can they go with current squad? On the same note, Gardy had the Twins in the playoffs for quite a few years as well.
