    That still means bringing in a starter. I'm not sure if Culpepper is ready. He's hitting like .275 or so in St Paul, not exactly setting the world on fire. I would rather not rush prospects until I see more.

    Are you saying the rotation is fine? We hope Ryan is healthy, with Taj Bradley you could have a top of the rotation guy or a guy knocked out early, Ober is like a 5th starter and you should only need 4 starters in a playoff series

    The pitching is very suspect to say the least. Maybe 2 starters and possibly 2 relief pitchers you might trust. I'm happy they have been competitive so far and I'm realistic about their playoff chances.

    The Twins could be a wild card team and then get instantly destroyed in the first round. In order to have a chance they would need at least a #3 starter, at least 2 or 3 quality bullpen arms, and at least one more bat I would say an outfielder. Then you need everyone to stay healthy and exceed projections. I would rather make some trades to improve the future. Jeffers needs to be dealt for sure. I would trade Ryan if they get blown away. If Boston would have traded Early and a couple of prospects fir Ryan it would have been great.

    He's clearly not comfortable with the position change. He most likely hasn't figured out how to read them yet. Not sure how long it would take.

    Moving starters to the bullpen should be the last thing they should be doing. There's nothing to say they will succeed. The problem with Prielipp is his innings, since he has been injured and missed so much time. His future should be as a starter. With Zebby I still view him as a starter. I don't know any of the advanced metrics but is there one pitch that he is getting beat up all the time? I'm curious if they took a pitch away that he's struggling with if that would help? I remember one of his better games this year he was successful when he dialed back the speed on his pitches and it helped.

    No offense, but this would be the dumbest idea ever. This is the type a move a team makes when a shutdown closer is their only need. This is also not a move for a wild card team.

    I would think the bonuses would go away. I know it's not even hardly a minor move but it wouldn't cost any prospects. Give him a couple of weeks and you can simply dump him.

    Danny Coulombe finally got released today and I would be in favor of a reunion. He pitched decent and Boston did him dirty releasing him to get out of paying his bonuses he would have earned. A lefty is the one thing that could rely on is a major need for the bullpen. Even better is that they won't have to give up any prospects for him.

    Exactly. It's not like the hitter needs to generate high bat speed to hit it out. If they get good wood on the ball it shouldn't matter when pitchers are throwing in the high 90's+. You could think trying to swing harder may cause more head movement than you want. They still need to see the ball to hit the ball.

    Odds are pretty good that they will eliminate the QO. It was only good for the elite players and teams used it as a way to earn compensation for players they don't want to resign.

    I would be very happy if the Twins would offer Ryan Jeffers a contract extension now and I would then sell high on Victor Caratini now before the deadline. I know you could still keep them both. But you need to take advantage of the market and cash in on Caratini if Jeffers would sign an extension. They can still be buyers and take advantage of having 2 valuable catchers.

    It would be foolish to keep both Jeffers and Caratini in 2027. Caratini will make 7m and Jeffers would probably command at least 12m if he stays healthy and keeps raking. Even if you have an unlimited budget you are not paying 19m for a pair of catchers. They trade Caratini now they could easily only have Alex Jackson left. Jeffers is going to get paid next year and I can't see the Twins winning a bidding war. They were fine without Jeffers and I would love to keep him, but I know they won't win a bidding war so I would trade him and look into more bullpen help.

    The third catcher isn't ideal but they can get by with it. They should be shopping Jeffers or Caratini now. There are teams that need a catcher and it would be foolish not to capitalize on it. Nothing wrong with trading a hot commodity and still being a buyer at the deadline.
