Try one of the guys in AAA. It can't really get worse hitting wise
Vazquez is still one of the two or three thousand best players on the planet, he's just not, imo, good enough to be on a MLB team.
Try a random former top prospect? I have no good answer for next year.
He's gotten worse on D each of the last two years, and he's not getting younger. No amount of defense can make up for being one of the worst hitters in the game. It's nearly an auto out at this point.
313 hitters have at least as many at bats as him this year. He's, wait for it, 312th in offense.
It's not his fault no one is on base when he hits.....it really isn't. People need to stop only looking at 1-2 stats. That said, ya, he needs to be better on defense. Even with his bad defense, he's putting up 2-2.5 war a year (if he ever plays a full year).
Portland can't support a MLB team. Zero chance. Zero. Intel is holding on as the biggest employer, and the economy is going to really suffer the next few years (or more) until (if) they recover. (I live here).
We're looking at millions and millions of lost tax revenue (more like billions) in the coming years in OR.
I don't think the Twins are going anywhere. TB, The A';s (haven't gotten money for a stadium, haven't broken ground) are still looking for homes.
How can it be worth more if they are losing money every year as some here claim?
I think, given these owners, the most likely path is the cheapest team possible, that still gets them revenue sharing.
Right? The moment he could choose where to live, he left Minnesota. And Minnesotans love him ! Mind. Boggling. Like many rich people, he wants the rewards of being in the US, but doesn't want to pay for those, even though he has generational money.
