  1. Always pass on the great pitching prospects, wonder why you don't have elite pitching.....so, yes, I'll be disappointed if that happens. But not surprised.
  2. I'd rotate them, as said above. But, Salas probably has more upside, so I'd defer to him some. Frankly, I'd move him to second right now, but that's not how teams roll......While I understand why, I strongly disagree. Put him at second where he can succeed faster, and make him more comfortable. It's also where he's more likely to make the majors and make money.
  3. You want them just sitting around when the OFer is all healthy? Because the only reason Castro played is because Kepler was dinged up. He's also on the roster in case they need an INF....because that's what bench players are for, to fill in as needed.
  4. They sat one regular that wasn't hurt.....how was it a throw away lineup?
  5. That's not how decisions work. If you drive drink and don't die, it wasn't a good decision you should repeat.
  6. They aren't trading good veterans if they are in the playoff hunt. I have no idea why people keep suggesting this.
  7. So they should not have traded for a starter last year? It isn't a disaster if he's gone. It just isn't.
  8. Great trade. Doesn't mean it will work out, but great trade. This team needed another good pitcher at the break. It was him, Castillo (who would have cost Lewis and Lee and two more good to very good guys) or Montas. That was it. Only those three were dealt.
  9. It's better for him to the in a MLB bullpen, than in AAA starting. As with Jax......teams and players insisting that a person try to stay a starter, and not make real money is a bummer. Do the right thing! Make him a great RP. Also, dang, that's a lot of other guys ahead of him in the pecking / healthy order right now.
  10. Love that the OP is responding maturely and with gratitude that others commented. Thank you.
  11. I don't think more than a hundred or so fans care if they'd change their talking about Polanco, frankly.
  12. You know this how? I'd guess they aren't talking about Polanco more because it is hard to predict with any accuracy.
  13. Every player not on the active roster isn't playing What more do you want to know? That's the question....no one is complaining about guys listed as out.....
  14. Love the pitchers....but only a few hitters I see as future starters in the majors.
  15. Which is very different than giving a date on Polanco weeks out.....we get lineups hours before the game. If a guy is on the injured list, he's not playing....what specifically are you asking for that you don't get now?
  16. Strong disagree. Other sports don't change their rules for the post season, and neither should baseball. I have no more interest in watching 3.5 hour games (with 30 minutes of actual action) in October than I do now.
  17. That Polanco stuff proves my point....people here feel misled, when it is likely things aren't going as expected. Communicating expectations creates expectations. If a player isn't playing that day, of course that's communicated, but that's not what people are complaining about. They are complaining that Polanco isn't scheduled to play the exact day originally stated (last year and this year).
  18. I mean, Fangraphs already lists him as a LF....... I like the idea of dealing a starter but not Ober...I'd rather deal Maeda for a low level guy at this point (I don't trust his arm and I do trust the three in AAA).
  19. Random fans won't ever check the injury list before going. Serious fans? Maybe, but they'll likely go anyway. I could be wrong, of course. I don't think it is about caring about consumers at all. Injuries are hard. Setting expectations at all creates, as we've seen, expectations. Then fans get mad when the doctors/trainers/players were wrong! Of course, if a SP isn't going to make their normal appearance, that seems reasonable to communicate, but that's not what people are complaining about at all. They want to know how many days Polanco will miss, to the minute.
  20. Agreed. This is much ado about nothing. They owe fans zero about injuries, zero. If I was them, given how meanspirited so many fans are, I'd stop talking about injuries at all and answer questions about them with a "that's an in house discussion only."
