  1. Maybe that is what they are describing. I don't know.
  2. No ill will towards Bruno, but I think this will go a long way towards relaxing the younger guys coming up. I would hear Bruno barking at Buxton between pitches of his at bat and think to myself: please stop.
  3. Mostly agree. The veteran comments from Falvey-Levine did not initially bother me; I figured it was an acknowledgement to Mauer and maybe Dozier. Levine gives us that quote about all those players in Texas who were leaders. I think what he is describing is chemistry, not leadership. You probably wouldn't find many clubhouses with four natural and equal co-leaders. What's ironic is he didn't mention Napoli, who was also on those Texas teams.
  4. Speaking of, I would hazard to guess a person in military uniform this year is just as likely to vote Johnson as Trump.
  5. I hope Falvey-Levine work on improving the players we already have, than search far and wide for more veteran leadership.
  6. Dixville Notch has voted. Clinton 4 Trump 2 Johnson 1 Romney 1 Results of 2012: Obama 5, Romney 5 2008: Obama 15, McCain 6 2004: Bush 19, Kerry 6
  7. That seems to be the new M.O. of the Fox right. Make the most outrageous, most hurtful claim imagineable. Let it circulate and seem credible for a couple days. Then, apologize! Retraction! Journalistic integrity! Just be glad they didn't figure this out sooner? I have no idea.
  8. Is anyone here from Missouri who can comment? Anyone following the Missouri senate race? I would love to see Kander defeat Blunt. http://www.latimes.com/politics/la-na-pol-senate-control-missouri-20161107-story.html
  9. I personally like your idea of playing the best players, but that's just me. Do you have room for one more in the naive club?
  10. Ultimate trivia question I found. Joe Maddon and Terry Francona lead their teams into Game 7 of the 2016 World series. The Cubs have come back from a 3-1 series deficit to win two games and force a Game 7. In postseason history, including AL and NL LCS, teams down 3-1 that win Games 5 and 6 have a solid 12-4 record in that next Game 7, so momentum is on the side of the Cubbies. However, if Cleveland wins, it will be the first time in eight postseasons that a team has regrouped and won a Game 7 after losing games 5 and 6. Question. Who were the two managers the last time a team in Cleveland's situation won Game 7? Source here. Answer in paragraph 15. http://www.letsgotribe.com/2016/11/1/13486622/so-how-important-is-it-to-avoid-a-game-7 Hint: Jon Lester was one of the Game 7 starters.
  11. Cleveland and the Cubs have both done their work. They both deserve the title. By this point it all depends on how the ball bounces tomorrow night and neither should hang their heads!
  12. I don't think a single person who predicted the Sano experiment to fail didn't already know that some players can make the position switch just fine.
  13. I think they are measuring his legend, not his height
  14. Maybe Bryant should do what Sano does, and rub ice cream around in his glove so the ball sticks in it. Win-Win he can eat the ice cream between plays.
  15. Plus I want to see Maddon do something crazy
  16. Thanks for the update. I'm not sure I understand the difference between a lateral movement in the field vs a lateral movement on the bases or a knee twist in the batter's box, but maybe that has been explained and I missed it.
  17. Do you think we will see Schwarber enter the game earlier and maybe stay in the field if the Cubs fall behind?
  18. i don't remember the context in which I commented on Schwarber so I apologize if I derailed another discussion you were having. The Cubs played the odds with Schwarber in left throughout 2015 and it all caught up with them in the postseason.
  19. Another tidbit about the '87 and '91 teams-- the '86 and '90 teams were dumpster fires too.
  20. Did you check on Schwarber's performance in the NLCS last season?
  21. Dick would be in for that just as much as you and me.
  22. Falvey and Levine are both said to be people persons, but what if they don't get along with each other? And maybe Falvey's final words after accepting the Twins offer was "hire whoever else you want" which would kinda mean St. Peter is the actual PoBO, or maybe Cleveland suddenly reeled Falvey back in and Levine will be the new Twins PoBO? Intrigue!
  23. The pitch did not go where the catcher eventually set up but I don't think that's incredibly uncommon, necessarily. Maybe Miller changed his mind after getting the sign. Maybe it was even by design. That slider was hard to hit regardless. The 8-9 guys didn't have a chance and the middle of the order couldn't get a run in, though they did get runners on like you say. I do agree Miller is probably not pitching tonight but maybe because the Cubs get to Bauer and Arrieta holds down the Cleveland lineup.
  24. So this is a done deal?
  25. Schwarber was able to lay off his first appearance against Miller, but Miller got him the second time when it really counted. Hard to lay off a pitch that comes in like a fastball, only slower. The batter knows he is going to destroy this pitch, kicks into his swing, and then it starts breaking...
