  1. Nice pitch by MTM and framed well by Gardy! (I think that's Gardy)
  2. Well this franchise has suddenly imploded.
  3. News Flash: Mauer still takes a lot of pitches? Look, he should probably be batting down in the order, but that's on Molitor and the front office, not on Mauer.
  4. Yep exactly. They called for the back door curve, that's what they threw, they missed the plate, not by much but they got a generous call from the ump. Joe has probably never had a pitch like that called a strike in his career.
  5. no way is this a strike. Also keep in mind the camera angle is slightly off center, making it look closer than it really is. nice little league framing however
  6. Poppen most recently pitched on May 5, picking up his first victory in a 12-4 win over Fort Wayne. His line: 6.1 IP, 9 hits, 4 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 SO The TwinsDaily game write-up is here, and Cedar Rapids write-up is here, with includes some more information about the two pitches that are working for Poppen right now, and also about his fielding; by my count, Poppen has made three throwing errors already this season.
  7. Del Rosario most recently pitched on May 2, in a home start against the visiting Lake County Captains, from Ohio. Cedar Rapids won, 7-3. 4 IP, 5 hits, 3 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 4 SO Del Rosario escaped an interesting first inning, which began with a base on balls, followed by a caught stealing, a strikeout, a base hit, passed ball, and another hit with the runner being thrown out at the plate. After three apparently quiet innings, Del Rosario got into trouble in the fifth. He left after the first five batters reached base (hit, walk, hit, walk, error).
  8. Cedar Rapids defeated the Fort Wayne TinCaps this afternoon, 4-1. Beeker was in full control. Fort Wayne never got anything going against him, except for maybe running up his pitch count. 6 IP, 4 hits, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 SO Beeker came out after six innings and 97 pitches, 22 batters faced.
  9. I think it's time for a hidden ball trick
  10. oh man. Looks like Duffey and Vargas had nice afternoons, in any case. Back at 'em Tuesday!
  11. and to think Molitor wasted his mound visit before that batter. Thanks Molly!
  12. pitcher's spot due up 8th in the bottom half
  13. It's a shame the team couldn't get over the hump today, with the big rallies and other good performances.* * good from what I can tell by watching MLB game day
  14. Another day in the minors, another day Berrios struggles with his command.
  15. Have to follow MLB today... never before has In Play, run(s) been so agonizing with the sac flies
  16. Molly will have some managin' to do here with possible pinch hitters and infielders
  17. lurking.. I counted 39 or 40 pitches for Sale that inning.
  18. When a pitcher paints the inside corner, is he painting the inside front corner, or the inside back corner? Or is he really just painting the inside edge? Can an edge be painted? Does home plate need a new coat of white paint, or should we paint the black?
  19. Mauer listed as day-to-day, groin impingement, after being body slammed by Sano
  20. I was wasting my time typing this futile post when that happened!!!!
