  1. I think, in the outfield, he only has one gear—fifth gear. Although during the cold weather April games (facemask games) I do notice he pulls up on those balls. Maybe in a cold weather October game he pulls up too. Hope not. We shall see.
  2. Or tasting some blood on his mouth! Edit: Fox just showed him spitting, and the spit was white
  3. Probably better doing it your way (I saw your similar post in another thread)
  4. R.I.P. duck snort baseball, 2011-2018
  5. Absolutely a legit hit, but above average D at first and this inning probably ends with no runs scored. ... Also, before anyone disagrees with me, let me just post this first
  6. That’s exactly the question I’d have for Law
  7. Because then Law’s preseason ranking would have had Lewis closer to 34 than to 9, for all the same reasons—doesn’t like his swing, didn’t hit well in high A to finish 2018. Three months of stat lines is nothing to sneeze at, but it’s not necessarily predictive of where he will finish the year, either.
  8. I don't know how much validity to put into a system that accounts so heavily for a half-season of minor league stats (Lewis dropping from 9 to 34).
  9. Now throw in Rooker, who is a lesser prospect but closest to the majors, and throw in Kepler with his recent extension, and that corner outfield is not a hard position to fill anyway, and I expect the odds are pretty good that one of them is traded.
  10. Also remember that the organization just about gave up on Polanco at short back in 2016. Polanco is not a great fielder there but he’s an All Star! more than adequate defensively Only to say that defense is a skill that can be practiced and improved.
  11. There was video of Kirilloff making a great diving catch, and at the very end, you hear the announcer saying “and that was by far the b—“ ... and then the video cuts off. That’s the only information I can provide about either of them. We hear little about these guys’ defense performance and I definitely appreciate the question being asked!
  12. The schedule makes me nervous, but the end of the season should be favorable. Should be. Detroit doesn’t scare me but for some reason the Twins have had trouble putting away KC. If the bats come back to life, it shouldn’t matter. Correction: looks like the overall record against KC has been good this year, but the games seemed tougher than they should have been.
  13. As big as this series looks on paper, there are still three more series with Cleveland later this summer. Also, hat tip to Twins Daily writers and posters who have been much more willing to wait and see how this plays out.
  14. Well, go ahead and tell Jack Buck’s son that many big names in the Twin Cities media had already proclaimed the Twins division champs, and that Cleveland is now in sell-off mode.
  15. That’s not true. I’ve already wrongly accused another poster of being sympathetic to WWII Nazis in this thread. Don’t stretch logic the same way and accuse other posters of being sympathetic to violence committed by Antifa. And yes, I am downplaying Antifa’s reach. You said earlier they were a new organization, and I corrected you. So I think the burden is on you to show me that they have some great social reach at this point. Likewise, their stated motive is to fight Nazis and other similar groups. Acknowledging that motive does not make one sympathetic to it.
  16. I’m not talking about MAGA hats. MAGA hats are not the reason Antifa assembles.
  17. Not to be confused with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuskegee_syphilis_experiment
  18. This is true for me. I do not justify violence from Antifa. Though I can understand how other posters with other points of view might mis-read my words. Nazis and white supremicists are violent, they court violence, and there are individuals from the opposite end of the spectrum (anarchists, or Antifa) who are violent against this group. Am I understanding this correctly? Question for you, what are we supposed to do about this normalization of violence in daily life?
  19. I’m still waiting for an answer.
  20. Another poster upthread had it right, I think—the smart play is to take off for third, but check part way to see where the throw is going. And on plays like that, I think everyone just assumes Buxton is going to be safe anyway.
  21. I am with the original poster on this. Also, juiced ball is better than one of the other explanations 'You can't help but wonder', from Nightengale, USA Today
