  1. That's not even close to an argument I'm making. I don't understand the point in complaining about how the Twins have crappy players in the bigs when it doesn't matter who's in the bigs because most of the Twins players are crappy. It's not like TR need "practice" in constructing the ideal 25-man roster. He's most likely filling holes and needs, trying to field a legitimate major league team, while still planning for the future and protecting the future stars that need protecting. But some people like to complain for the sake of complaining, I guess. Any chance to rag on TR or Gardy is like currency to some.
  2. Nobody should be up at AAAA unless they are part of the future? So then Pelfrey, Correia, Doumit, Thomas, Carroll, Butera, Escobar, etc... shouldn't be up? Who is going to fill all those positions?
  3. Yeah yeah, he got the double, but he didn't drive in any RUNS! Typical Mauer. And congrats!
  4. Yes, the Twins are bad this season. Are you suggesting that if they only had one backup middle infielder, only two catchers, and only 12 pitchers, the Twins would be contenders? Obviously the Twins don't have the talent they need right now to compete. I am 100% positive that there is no combination of players, or composition of the roster, currently or realistically under Twins control, that could compete for playoff spot.
  5. Does Roy (or TK, for that matter) not understand the role of the color guy?
  6. I think it's because baseball contracts are all guaranteed money. Plus with no salary cap, there's no reason to have voidable, non-guaranteed contracts. This is why small-market teams can't compete with big market teams over the long haul. If Evan Longoria or Joe Mauer get busted, there's no coming back for TB or the Twins. If Robinson Cano gets busted, the Yankees can go buy a different second baseman.
  7. If the teams want some protection on long term contracts, they should put protection in those long term contracts when they make them.
  8. Wait, when did they say they weren't actively pushing for a Morneau trade?
  9. He's got the "swing hard" part of the game down, though.
  10. Who is the Samwell Deduno fellow?
  11. Just like Mauer to take a walk when he should be wildly swinging away! RBI or bust.
  12. Everyone knows you don't send the runner when Bernier is coming up! Let his bat do the talking.
  13. May have been a little aggressive to send him there. May have been a little aggressive not to at least try to slide.
  14. "Wheels" Mauer beats the throw to 2nd.
  15. But there's no reason to make a deal purely for the sake of making a deal, which is what MWM seems to be advocating for, although I could be reading that incorrectly.
  16. I'm not sure if that's the general sentiment, but I'm sure there are plenty who feel that way. You tend to lose a lot of people who formerly had your back when it turns out you were lying all along. Plenty of fans (and others) supported him last year, when his test was leaked before the appeals process, meaning no one would have known the test was positive had the process worked correctly. It's tough to continue supporting him when you know he was lying all along.
  17. Tangential-relation alert: I never really liked Schilling when he was a player, or as an analyst, or when he took millions of $$$ from Rhode Island and bankrupted a company, so this may be biased, but... He come off as such a jerk today on ESPN radio. He was being interveiwed about Bedard's decision to come out in the midst of a no-hitter, and said that Bedard was basically an awful person. Whatever, fine, I don't mind that. He continued, saying that you could tell Bedard had no heart/guts/whatever because he's pitched so few innings in his career. Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't Bedard's shoulder been falling off for year? Anyway, Schilling seems unpleasant to me. And as a Brewers fan, Braun is dead to me.
  18. Diamond is so lucky. This game could, and should, be a lot worse than it is.
  19. I miss the smoke-and-mirrors Diamond from last year.
  20. Wow, you have an inordinate amount of inside "information"/know what's inside a lot of people's heads.
  21. I'm not saying never compare them, but one is a brand new rookie, and the others aren't. It's not like we're choosing between a 10-year, 7-year, and 5-year vet.
  22. I love the idea of the Futures Game, but isn't it "unfair" to have AAA players going against high-A and AA players? Anyone who is/has watched in the past, is there a noticeable difference in skill?
  23. More embarrassing for a pitcher: Giving up a HR to Ichiro or (if it ever happens) to Revere?
  24. Of course it is. But at the end of the day, anything that happens in sports is meaningless because it's sports...unless you won or lost a bet or something.
