Do you always latch on to other people's hyperbole so tightly? Obviously Cano jumps out as a better 2nd baseman without having to think about it. Jimbo is excited about how much better Dozier has been this year/is getting this year, why can't we just leave it at that?
When exactly is Mauer going to learn to play RF? 2 years from now, when he's 2 years older and has played 2 more years of catcher? I can't imagine, fathom, or anything else a world where Mauer ever plays anything other than C, 1B, or DH.
I'm outraged at the amount of outrage present in every single forum post on this site. And I think Gardy made the right move. You don't want to end on a terrible note, like loading the bases on walks or letting up a lot of runs. Get the guy out of there and leave him with good things to build on.
They said yesterday that the game won't be on any channel anywhere. Saturday daytime games are usually blacked out except on Fox, but Dick said no television whatsoever...
Nobody answers your questions for two reasons: 1. We have NO idea, and some of us choose not to complain/speculate about unknowable things. 2. It's really, really hard to prove a negative. The point is he's still spending time with his wife, who just had two premature babies, and the two children. Most of us look at that as a really good thing, as family should come way before baseball. You look at it as a way to pick at Mauer for getting favoritism with NO evidence whatsoever to back up your claim.
I tend to take the most pride in doing something that was awful/difficult/whatever and doing it well. Can't he be proud for overcoming something that he thought was particularly challenging without us impugning the guy's character or priorities?
Right. Didn't mean to imply that something was "wrong." Just meant that it's not "standard" if everything is normal/average/whatever. Obviously twins, and premature twins, aren't normal/average/whatever.
It's not pretty standard for women to be in the hospital that long at all, excepting C-sections, of course. Unless something goes wrong with mother or child, they should both be outta there in about 48 hours.
Not sure if you're serious...but if you are, this thread has officially gone from strange to completely off-the-wall crazy. Talk about jumping the shark.
Thrylos: Why in the world are you comparing NFL celebrations to baseball celebrations? There is nothing similar between the NFL and AA, or even professional, baseball. The tradition, the attitudes, etc... are different. You might as well be comparing all the NBA showboating that's done after huge dunks during meaningless regular season games to MLB, for all the good it'll do ya.
Why is it that a professional athlete, or even a college athlete, is considered "a kid," but a 20-year old in some normal walk of life, say, guy who works in an office and gets in a bar fight, isn't considered a kid? Just a pet peeve of mine...
Just so we're clear: Flyball halfway to the left field wall caught by sprinting shortstop = infield fly Pop-up to the pitcher who takes three steps and waits for it to come down = ground ball. Got it.
When are we gonna stop with the "Twins blew it with Dickey" meme? He was terrible for multiple teams, had a good 1 1/2 years with the Mets, and is not performing particularly well this year.
