  1. Not unlikely at all. The Twins could get swept easily. Cleveland has done it twice already this season. Then they got hot. Meanwhile it would only take one of those three teams, doesn't matter which one to have a modest win streak. The Angels are due. KC and Texas are streaking. A win today would help but a 4 game sweep on the road is tough. So I see the Twins likely to lose 4 in a row. Personally I hope they clobber the Indians and clinch in Cleveland. But I bet there will be meaningful games at Target next weekend against Detroit.
  2. If the Twins get swept in Cleveland... a real possibility. . and either KC LA or Texas wins 4 in a row ... the Twins' lead would be less than 2 with 3 to play. It's not over yet
  3. Rooker has 29 strikeouts in 98 at bats with the Miracle. He is almost 23. Maybe he will be the answer but let's wait a bit before we change this pick from an under slot reach to a can't miss Twins 1B
  4. They are both brand new at their jobs. I think it is only fair to wait and see how new people work out before we trust them. I have nothing to base any trust on yet. I sure am hoping though.
  5. Why do you trust them? Based on what?
  6. This was not meant to be a comment on Busenitz. I hope he does well. I was merely finishing the quote rearranging the deck chairs. Guys here are using it and some maybe did not realize the Titanic part of it. the expression The idea obviously is that it is not much use to rearrange the deck chairs if the ship is going down. I hope the twins can find a couple of guys in the system who can to help out the bullpen.
  7. Pick the best player means don't do maneuvers like signing for under slot. I think that The Twins picked under slot at picks 35 and 37. Or even at 1 for that matter. Picks 8, 9 and 10 were also under slot picks since they were seniors with no leverage. This matters because Picks 1 - 10 are where the most emphasis is. The goal is to get all of those guys signed, and then sign as many of the rest as you can. So why take under slot guys? Since this is such a crap shoot don't mess around. Take the top guy on your board when your pick comes up.
  8. I agree. But my point was based on the fact that the Twins offered him first, and then went to Lewis. If they liked him better take him. It should be quality over quantity in the baseball draft. Enlow is the one pick that was ranked much higher than than when the Twins took him. Every other picked so far has been a guy that could be signed under slot. They were all ranked lower than when they were taken. The Twins can't be smarter than everybody.
  9. No what I am upset about is they are taking guys early in the rounds that are lower rated so that they can look clever by making a late round master stroke. If they thought McKay was better than Lewis, they should have taken Lewis. Taking Rooker and Leach at 35 and 37, NOBODY had them there, so they could make clever moves later is not the way to go. Probability is the higher drafted guys have a better shot at making the majors. Get the best guys available in the early rounds. Don't try to score in the late rounds. Spend your money on the best guys available.
  10. This is such a terrible draft. The one thing people can agree on is don't draft for need, take the best player available. But the Twins are too busy playing games, trying to look smart by getting a round 4 guy in the tenth round, or whatever else they are trying to do. Just pick the best guy available and quit messing around.
  11. The Twins drafted Rooker in the 38th rd when he was a junior. That puts him below most of the twins draftees.
  12. And as far as the new additions ranking in Twins prospect lists, Lewis should be ranked lower than Javier and Palacios. Rooker will struggle to be a top 50 Twin. And Leach should not be ranked.
  13. This is quite depressing. Lewis can't hit and doesnt have a position. The next guy is a DH who will be 23 in class A ball, playing behind lewin diaz who is two years younger. And then we got the Canadian Kohl Stewart. At least we won't have to suffer through hearing the cliche" we couldn't believe he was still available " line. What a huge disappointment.
  14. Pick Greene Now is the time to roll the dice. If he really is the second coming of Ruth, we will have 20 years of fabulous baseball. All the rest Wright etc. are only marginally better than what they can get at picks 35 and 37. I say go for it and pick Hunter Greene. Remember, Sid said back in the day to pick Laettner over Shaq given the choice. Don't be Sid
  15. The sky is not falling. The Twins are in first place. Might even still be there in June. I agree with the point of the article. The young players are arriving finally and the coming years are going to be fun.
  16. Recognizing differences in cultures is not racism. Saying one is better than the other is. Robert Pirsig in his book Lila has some interesting things to say about this. In short, he says the more extroverted are European in origin and the stoicism of Americans has roots in the Native American culture.
  17. This group looks like it finally has some guys who could make it to the majors. 11,12,13 and 14 all seem to have a future with the Twins. I have liked Vielma and have not understood how he got regulated to the no-hit ever pile. Arraez has just plain been the best hitter in the Twins system. Gratelol would be a high draft pick if he was eligible this year and Burdi still has the chance to be a big time closer.
  18. Jay is fine but the other guys are elite. At best Jay will be a reliever in the 6th inning some day. The Red Sox are going to bat Benintendi #2 in their order this year. Fulmer is pitching this year for the Sox. The Twins just flat out missed these guys. And they have had 4 years of high picks .. almost all misses. Their top rated prospect should not be at #50
  19. The Tyler Jay draft might really prove to be a all time bad one. After The Twins took Jay, and the Red Sox took Benintendi, the White Sox took Carson Fulmer who is on their 25 man roster and the Cubs took Ian Happ, now their #1 prospect. Bleak bleak bleak
  20. Yes I know he was a 4th round pick that is what I meant to say. And the point was that out of the mere three guys in the top 100 one was a 4th round pick. Gordon was a first rounder but Kiriloff was from last year when the pick was lower due to the team's one year of success. Where are the rest of the picks? Before Gonsalves that year they picked Kohl Stewart 4th, Ryan Eades at 43 overall and Stuart Turner at 78. Washouts. After Gordon they picked Nick Burdi at 46. Will he ever pitch again? Tyler Jay was 6th overall. Guess who was #7? Andrew Benintendi, just named the number ONE overall prospect in baseball. What are the Twins doing wrong!!
  21. This is a problem for the Twins. High picks in years 2012, 2013, 2014,and 2015 and only 1 player in the top 50? At 50 no less. Buxton and Berrios are out of the list but where are the rest? We have a 103 loss team and nobody in the pipeline. Jay ? Stewart? Gonsalves was a #4 pick..... Our new front office looked at this and then promoted all the people who have done the drafting and development. That better be quite a culture they are developingi n the office.
  22. Cuddyer's comments about winning culture seem to be based on some alternate reality. The Twins have had a group that won in Rookie Ball, Low A. High A, AA and competed at AAA. He is apparently clueless about the present day Twins. It is at the Major League level where the Twins have had the attitude he is talking about.
  23. Kudos to nick nelson 6 for 6 predicting who would be added to the roster. twinsdaily keeps showing they know this team ...
