  1. doesn't necessarily need to be a 1:1 trade or a 2 team trade. If LA needs a 2B and has the ability to fill a need for say Washington or Mets, we could be in business. Erick Fedde and Reynaldo Lopez would be a satisfying return for Dozier to me.
  2. ouch! I look forward to the handbook, regardless of the FA SS report
  3. yeah, there also free agency or trade for a really good fielding, mediocre hitting shortstop. They're out there. Might already be in house.
  4. This team needs to improve pitching and fielding. Keeping both Polonco and Dozier does neither. Gotta trade one of them and get the biggest impact possible for a high end young starting pitcher. I think Dozier has more value and would bring a better return. I would imagine Escobar would be as good or better than Polanco at SS, need to find a better solution, but Esco isn't a bad utility option.
  5. im so sorry Jerr. You are not alone. You've got a lot of career left and in front of you and I'm sure you will land again soon.
  6. In case you were curious http://ftw.usatoday.com/2016/09/twins-tigers-wild-pitch-justin-upton-pat-light-mlb
  7. Because I don't remember the 102 loss season and can't help but want to experience that as a Twins fan.... Because I'm a masochist
  8. I'm encouraged by this direction, but like Mike above I would like to reserve judgment until results
  9. Yup, if 90+ losses 5 of 6 years doesn't give one the true value of Dozier to this team relative to starting pitching, I don't know what will.
  10. Polanco and Escobar could eventually be a better 2b/SS fielding tandem than Dozier and Escobar or Dozier and Polanco. Dozier's not going to improve much as a fielder. Polanco still has youth on his side to improve his fielding.
  11. Doogie's interview w/ RA touched on May potentially going back to the rotation. http://kstp.com/sports/twins-interim-general-manager-rob-antony-interview-darren-doogie-wolfson-may-sano-polanco/4230249/
  12. Seth made the argument that we shouldn't really compare Mauer to catchers in the hall, but then rattled off the list of catchers in the hall. It's only natural because catchers are unique to all position players. Just look at all the safety equipment. Even pitchers don't get that and they have the ball hit at them on purpose at 60'6" If Joe can pull off a late career surge and earn a year or two extension, I think he can get in.
  13. is there a Mike Trout in that list? Mauer is by far the best on that list, but stopped being remotely close the day he was diagnosed w/ concussion. Now he's a real good player but not elite. Is he a "problem"? No, but this is a crappy team filled with average at best veterans. Plouffe, Dozier, are never going to move the needle when this team has so many pitching holes
  14. I get wanting your 26th man to be up and down, but I don't get using a guy for 26 you have to add to the 40 man that you don't intend to keep in the 40 man but don't want to risk losing.
  15. How have you come to this conclusion? Or is this a should statement disguised as a prediction?
  16. i don't think Plouffe would clear waivers. He would be a guy someone would claim in the hopes of making a low cost trade, assuming he would be non-tendered in the offseason anyways. A low voltage trade could get you 6-8 weeks of Plouffe and arbitration rights vs a crazy free agency price.
  17. probably, what team doesn't matter. The point is putting Suzuki on waivers has a very low probability for successful trade because of all of the things that the Twins can't control such as waiver priorities.
  18. you are correct, a trade could be had with the team that claims him, but Atlanta could claim just to stop the trade from going forward assuming they will not come to a trade agreement and the Twins will revoke waivers. Suzuki would never be waived being he's at the end of his guaranteed contract. He's more valuable to play the game than for his roster spot to be taken up by who? Murphy?
  19. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/08/twins-to-acquire-hector-santiago-ricky-nolasco-alex-meyer-to-angels.html Holy f&$@
  20. Suzuki isn't passing through waivers unclaimed which makes him most likely to bring a good return of players who are likely to be traded in the next 12 minutes

  22. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/07/jonathan-luroy-no-trade-indians-brewers.html Lucroy exercised his no trade. Suzuki could be a much cheaper fall back option
  23. do you really think starting the search two weeks before the trade deadline helps? If you are serious about interviewing outside the org, how many teams are going to allow AGMs to interview during the season?
