  1. I think you are correct in in the short term, and if either fails in their next start, i think things could change with in the week.
  2. I am one of those who wants to do what is best for the future, but also if the winning trend continues for another month, I want to try to win NOW.......................so with that said, I would personally bring up Milone, temporily keep starting May, and send Pelphrey to the bullpen(our bullpen pretty much sucks right now) and you know someone will come up lame in the next few weeks, then you let Pelphrey start again.......................or if May has another 2 or 3 game stretch of poor performance, you can then demote him and Pelphrey back to starting and bring up a DIFFERENT bullpen arm. There is my 2 cents
  3. Well I only seen him once in person, 2013 Cedar Rapids, and he played first.......to me he looks like John Olerud, so maybe our 1B man of the future after Joe Mauer contract is up..............Even tho he hasnt hit over the last couple yrs, or at least not consistently, we only seem to hear good things about his future. and he is having a great start to this yr.
  4. Will the Cedar Rapids games be 9 innings, or the conclusion of first one 9 and the second one 7??
  5. Nice article, like many others i am sure, I wonder why Ortiz is not in any prospect circles, he is only 25 also, same as Hicks.
  6. Somehow 11 & 12 got deleted as I was typing, but Gonsalves 11 and Harrison 12......Thanks for seeing that.
  7. Also think it is a very close call, Buxton and Harrison are my favorite 2 minor leaguers, but I have to go with the Low draft pic who is , I assume, exceeding all expectations........Seems the Kernals are finding someplace to play him every nite.
  8. Nice to see the player(s) appreciate the work behind the scenes, nice article Mat.
  9. 1. Buxton 2. Sano 3. Berrios 4. Polanco 5. Meyer 6. Gordon 7. Rosario 8. Kepler 9. Burdi 10 Hu 13 Stewart 14 Minier 15 Z Jones 16 Reed 17 Thorpe 18 Walker 19 Duffy 20 Jorge 21 Turner I didnt include JR Graham who is technically still a prospect for a week or 2.......I would probably slot him in the 18 to 20 range.
  10. Would be nice to get a hit with a runner in scoring position, 2 wasted innings, but at least we are hitting the ball, it will come
  11. There should not be any tension in the Aiken/Nix fiasco, the Astros were proven right in my mind.................Man, they took alot of flak , even after still offering $5M.....................Aiken is probably forever damaged goods compared to other TJ patients..............Stay away from Aiken, under no circumstances should he be taken in the 1st round, or at least the first 15 to 20 picks, IMO
  12. Bregman and Tucker are my preferences , in that order........if not either of them, then a pitcher.
  13. I will give my 2 cents.........................Just reading stats and how the player played last yr in Elizabethton and getting a promotion to Cedar Rapids, I would guess Max Murphy. Batting .390 last 10 games avg to .259, that is my guess .................oh yea, i forgot Trey Vavra, 1st Base hitting .327, I would have guess Tyler Kuresa was better, but stats are not showing it.
  14. I agree that both Trout and Cabrera are better, but Boras seems to get top dollar for his clients, and Harper , if he becomes a FA will have all the top dollar teams after him, like Trout he makes you a ton of money on marketing, love him or hate him, everyone who barely follows baseball knows him.........I dont know if anyone has a better known name in baseball right now and he is 22........Kershaw maybe, Trout of course, soon to be Harvey, maybe i am missing someone, give me a name or two other than that, if there is anymore ........Sorry if moderators read this, this has gotten off topic and be my last on this part of the subject
  15. Well generally the more yrs you guarantee, you can get by with less avg annual salary, not always, but usually .......I mean , Stanton got a great deal, cuz if he gets hurt he is guaranteed $325M and if he is great he gets to opt out after 2020 to make even more money. Crazy!!!!! isnt it......... If I am Washington Nationals, i am signing Harper to a 16 yr contract for $400M, but he would turn it down, he has Boras as an agent, and i bet he will command $40M a yr on FA market in 4 yrs........he will be a FA entering his age 26 season.
  16. I will say , i am excited about the possibilties of LF Rosario, CF Buxton, RF Hicks, or if not Hicks, Arcia. 2016 Lineup. 1 Buxton 2 Dozier 3 Mauer 4 Plouffe 5 Vargas or Arcia 6 Rosario 7 Suzuki 8 Hicks 9 Santana Bench: Escobar, backup catcher, Robinson
  17. Little out of context as i was responding to someone saying he isnt part of the future, when all i was saying is he or someone like him is needed on a team to fill the 24th or 25th man role. But I also understand that he doesnt need to be evaluated.........I will go on record and say, that I thought bringing up Hicks at the time, was slightly premature(i was wrong, way premature) but I thought he would develop while being given time at the MLB level, he didnt...........But now that it didnt work, i am more than happy for him to regain confidence before returning to the majors, if it is next week or middle of June, i am fine with it......I just want it to be for good next time he is up......I think we all want the same thing, just we differ on how we start or get there
  18. But Trout is going to make $33+M in yrs 2018-2020, and i dont think any agent is going to let Buxton sign past his age 30 season without it going to at least age 36........and i agree i dont want to be paying a player past his age 35 season big bucks, but to get him for ages 31-33 you will have to pay out to at least age 36 if not more. And if Pujols and Cabrera are any indication, Buxton, as well as i am sure Trout will want a 10 yr contract at the age of 30, for what will be at least $300M. If Pujols can get $240M , Trout and if Buxton is what we think he might be, they will get $300M.
  19. But I see him being owed about 44 Million the next seven yrs with inflation , if he is as good as we hope he will be.........3 plus yrs at $.550, Arb 1 at $7.5M, Arb 2 at $11M, and Arb 3 at $22M, but hope that will be moot point as I hope we have a 6 yr extension at that time of about $150M, in the Trout price zone, hope that seems more accurate to you Tobi
  20. You are right, I was just trying to go by memory, but i looked it up.......I thought that the Angels had signed Trout pre arb, but they didnt, so I would hope we go about it the same with Buxton, sign to contract for a yr or two in FA yrs and then hope to extend with 2 or more yrs to go when you know what he is.
  21. And why cant Robinson be part of the future, not all players need to be 28 and under........but i do understand we have a plethora of outfielders in the Minors, but most of those if they make it , we want them playing everyday, if we have a 5th outfielder I have no problem with a guy like Robinson.....I like having a roster spot for someone who has to play hard every second of every minute to keep his roster spot, ala Little Nicky Punto!!!!
  22. I personally dont see a correlation between Hicks off on Sunday and the Twins having Monday off..........my opinion Hicks wont be up till June 15, or till when he finishes season his service time is less than 2 yrs, as of start of season his service time was 1 yr 67 days. I am happy with Robinson, and temporarily satisfied with Schafer, I do hope HIcks comes up and never looks back, but I am in lets wait till at least June to make the move.......My guess it will come just after draft time, when some moves internally from all the teams in the Twins system are made. JMO
  23. Sleger is tentative , because of a possible injury?????
