  1. Tell us exactly how you feel about Mike Pelfrey....:s-instagib:
  2. So....that's a big "No" then?
  3. How about someone who has a history with the organization and the "Twins way" at the same time has prespective gained from working in other organizations (including the beloved Tampa Bay Rays). Someone with manager experience. A name that the causal Twins fan will love and get excited about (G__ knows they need it); Gary Gaetti
  4. really?!? why? how?
  5. AJ Pettersen- just wanted to say how cool it is for you to interact with the online community here at Twins Daily. 99% of sports writers don't interact with their readers/commenters and here you are responding to everyone who commented. I for one appreciate it very much. And of course good luck on your recovery!!
  6. What!?! A positive comment of Butera? Can't be...
  7. I liked Oakland everytime I visited- although I was based in around the downtown/Lake Merreit. Been by the Coliseum but never in it. It's been a few years, but it seems like it was in the middle of nowhere. Makes me appreciate Target Field
  8. If he is hitting low 90's as a 16 year old - wow!
  9. Come on. Buxton and Sano are two of the best MINOR league players in the world. They are far, far away from being the best players in the WORLD. Depends on pitching obviously, but I would money on the major league team 2 out of 3 if not 3 out of 3. Anything else is pure silliness. This is like saying the Alabama Crimson Tide would beat the Jacksonville Jaguars. Fun to think about, but no chance.
  10. A question for next year is- does Grady ask for FOUR potential catchers on the 25 man roster? Mauer, Doumit, Hermann and Pinto? With Pinto catching 1/2 the game, Hermann a 1/3 and the other 2 splitting the rest? The other 3 besides Pinto can play other positions winch Grady loves.
  11. One of the silliest episodes of Gleeman and the Geek I've ever listened to (and that's saying something). The part about about the Brewer's rebuild was interesting at the same time the beer talk and choo-choo whistles got a bit much. Realized that was the point of the podcast, just a bit more baseball would have been nice
  12. On Grady's 1500 show yesterday he mentioned that Willingham came up to him post game on Sat. and said that he felt he needed to say something to a certain player or players. Gardy said yeah, you do (the question was about who is the leader in the clubhouse minus M&M). Could've been Plouffe. He seems like the laid-back surfer dude a little too much sometimes. Great athlete though. Hopefully the prospect of losing his job to Sano motivates him a bit more next year.
  13. Not Worley and May for sure. Revere was a fairly established major leaguer with a minor league track record of hitting .300 at every level. Hicks had one good year a AA
  14. On Gardy's 1500 show yesterday he gushed over Pinto. I would be surprised if he is not on the 25 man roster opening day next year.
  15. Please find me anyone, ANYONE who was clamoring for Thomas, Richardson or Ramirez to start in CF over Hicks right after spring training. Yes, people were of the opinion that we shouldn't start Hicks arb time and yes they wanted him to win the job in spring training (and he did). My point is that their decision was easy from their (the FO) point of view. They weren't going to sign a free agent CF and the nobody considered the above players (was Richardson even with the organization then?) a option. Maybe they *should* have, but they were not.
  16. 1)No. RF or DH for Arcia 2)No, I Think a platoon of Calobello and Parmalee with a sprinking of Mauer or even Plouffle is a decent patchwork until someone steps ups and takes the position. I wouldn't be againist signing Morneau. He might be too expansive for TR though. 3)Maybe. If his concussion(s) continue to be a problem 4)Maybe. I think he can and would be a really cool story. His AAA numbers are silly. He deserves a shot. 5)No. I think we have enough options at least for next year (another non-competing year)
  17. Thank you for proving my point futher
  18. With Mastro's injury and Benson's flame out the Twins had little choice. Easy to criticize now, but what choice did they have especially after his spring training performance?. Gardy is stubborn (one of his major faults) and is stuck on putting CF, SS, or 2nd in leadoff especially with Span and Reverre setting up the line up the years before. Gardy hated giving up Morneau, but getting a CF that can leadoff made him happy.
  19. I'm in the opinion that it will be not that easy to move Dozier back to SS. Yes he was a SS in the minors, at the same time he REALLY seems like the type of player that his defense effects his offense and vice versa. You can't over estimate how much of a factor that Dozier being comfortable at 2nd has on his bat.
  20. Dozier's success should give us caution about ever giving up on a mid-1st talent like Hicks. IMO the Twins kept Hicks up not because they really wanted to, but because they really had no other options for CF (and really leadoff). Finally, they gave up and had to start Thomas, then Presley in CF. You give Hicks at least 2 more years, more like 3, 4 to prove himself unless he bombs like Joe Benson. Of course he maybe trade bait for a pitcher- esp. if they more Rosario back to OF
  21. Off topic:here we are talking about 75 pitch count limits, when back in the day (cue the "we-walked-to-school-in-2-feet-of-snow-uphill-both-ways" grumpy old man speech) Cy Young competed 749 of the 815 games he started. 511 wins and 316 LOSES. His stats just boggle the mind compared to what pitchers do today.
  22. Weren't the Rockies experimenting with 6 man rotations last year or something in this vein
  23. Yeah, I think Pelfrey ate his kids or something. Maybe just forgot to send him a birthday card?
