  1. any thoughts that Berrios might be suffering from too much coaching? Sometimes a player like Berrios can be trying too hard to correct minor flaws and then he loses the natural rhythm that is needed. I see Berrios as a person who may try too hard.
  2. I love the guys that can't be quantified - they just win.
  3. Not ready to buy into the team yet. Berrios has lost his status and our number one, Jake Cave is still living off one grand slam and not much else - but they will not bring up the prospects - why?
  4. I am fascinated that TD had an article about whether Dobnak is feasting off bad teams. The article should have been about Berrios and his inability to stop teams good or bad. He is by far the most disappointing player in 2020. The second is Cave - he had a GRAND SLAM early and thus his is an excellent fourth OF. Give Kiriloff or Larnach a chance. This is ridiculous.
  5. I love the seven innings. No way would I go to a double header with nine innings each in this time of bloated games. I am not in favor of spending 9 hours at the ball park eating and drinking over priced items. When we took our annual trip to Milwaukee to see the Braves in the 1950s a game took 2 1/2 hours. We could enjoy the game, the zoo, and dinner and it was a great day.
  6. How has Berrios performed against the same teams? Dobnak is not an Ace, he is just dependable and that is really nice. I wish the others had his consistency.
  7. Hope Stashak on IL is just a convenient assignment. Still want to see some St Paul players on the roster. So long Guerin.
  8. I am more interested in having them dip into the St Paul thirty than to trade. At this point trades will be more about economics since free agency is going to be a crap shoot this year.
  9. how about using romo and rogers on alternating days? The same with May and Duffey. Using your best four on the same days makes no sense to me. With Clippard in the mix and Stashak too we can afford to alternate and rest our relievers without going out to trade for someone else.
  10. I want them all, but Kiriloff should be first, Rooker second. We have plenty of pitchers and if we send out a couple relievers and bring in a couple of starters we can actually have a bench.
  11. This was a game that we can love in all phases. We broke the string of early scores and then nothing. Now let's break the next issue and break lose multiple games in a row.
  12. Something changed on zoom. Now they want me to pay. Hate to miss these sessions
  13. I have no support for the bullpen games - it impacts all the subsequent games. Get some starters from St Paul
  14. I welcome comments about other teams. Sometimes I tire of the need to explore the same Twins issues each day and would welcome a daily article on another team - not even a team in our division, although - Detroit is only 1/2 game behind us! Love it.
  15. This makes me frustrated again with the way the Twins are using the 60 man. We have starters there, but we continue to overuse our relievers with these foolish reliever games - I hate them. Now Rogers has proven he can't go consecutive days (again) and we have our prime relievers unavailable for today' game. WHY? Duran, Chalmers...Why not Balazovic, but he isn't even on the 60 man. We could start using Blankenhorn as the next utility man, or Gordon, or one of the others. I wonder how the St Paul group feels.
  16. Bad umps don't excuse bad hitting and pitching. Adjustment is part of the professionals repertoire. We are only good for one early bat eruption, we do not have enough starters even though we have 60 men to choose from. No excuses - the Twins have to do better and so does Rocco.
  17. Why do we have 30 players at St Paul when all they do is play each other and we go out and find waiver wire guys to bring in. Let's see some of their pitchers and hitters. We are playing horrible baseball right now. Get Kiriloff and Rooker on the team. Bring in Chalmers and Duran. Send out Cave, Thorpe, Smeltzer. Put some spark back in with a some young guys. I would also rather have Blankenhorn than the new pick up from AZ. We have this highly rated list of prospects and I want to see them.
  18. I am so frustrated - we score early and coast. We do bullpen games instead of using the 60 man roster and start Duran or Chalmbers. And where is Balazovic?
  19. YES YES YES - please - do something that is inspiring. Go across town and find a pitcher (and by the way a hitter who might be the fourth outfielder).
  20. I would have Thorpe in St Paul to figure things out. Give Alcala the ball and let him go until he runs out of gas. He has the potential to be a starter and Thorpe and Smeltzer do not excite me. Clippard 2 - Alcala 4 - then mix and match. At least we have the A lineup for the game. Lets score some runs, get some baserunners on, and not just wait for one inning and one hit.
  21. This is one of the most underwhelming moves I have seen. Blankenhorn gets no love from the team. Astudillo is put at CHS. And this player does not exactly look like a stud. AZ did not want him... Still no Balazovic at St Paul. In fact, we might as well not have the extra 30 man. The only ones we pull off are the waiver wire signings.
  22. I would say Donaldson, but having three pitchers on the list - one of them has to count the most.
  23. Pitching is too complex to just look at velocity or lack of it. Command is essential no matter what the velocity is. But we are seeing curve balls and sliders starting to rise at least to the level of velocity. Then there are the pitchers like Dobnak that win without the massive Ks. Then there are the knuckleballers like Hoyt Wilhelm who lasted until he was 15 days short of 50 years old, and Jamie Moyer who was never a fastball specialist but lasted until 49 and 1/2. It is about location - command and the ability to put your best pitch in the best place. Of course there is Nolan Ryan who made it to 46 2/3 and always had the fast ball.
  24. This is not an over reaction when the bad stretch is against the worst teams. If this was Chicago or Cleveland there might be some excuse - but Pittsburgh and KC!!!
