    There's a lot of talk on how bad the batting against LHPs is. Last nite they showed what they can do against a very good LHP, even w/o Buck. It's so frustrating when they play so bad against poor teams yet pull off a win against a top team. The roller coaster is murder.

    There is a big difference between deadline & offseason trades. Also, from an All-Star to CY winner. Besides there are very few teams that can match up well to LAD's promising young MLB-ready SPs that the Twins'll need to get in return. I agree that the MLB negotiations will affect trades, when there is uncertainty.

    I agree with you. this is the best deadline we've had for a long time. Falvey's "creative" passively waiting for all the good targets to go by, so he could scoop up the scraps trades, drove me crazy. Because we completely exploded the BP the last deadline, we started out the season with 0 high-leverage RPs & a very big hole. The best way to address that problem is the beginning of the offseason, not at the deadline. We'd have won a lot more games & it'd be cheaper.

    IMO, Joe needs some time off to regain his strength & edge back. Keep pitching will not do so. He's not pitching well, the way the light KCs bats were hitting him, proves that. The avid anti-Dobnok fan can't believe that he ever had & still have any value. He is proving them wrong.

    Thank you, IMO, Houston's glove is MLB-ready yet there is no need to rush his bat. When Culpepper is promoted to MLB, Houston will get his chance at AAA. Under the wild scenario I stated before, IMO, I wouldn't push Houston to start in MLB any time soon.

    Prospect A, who has poor defense, poor baserunning, strikes out a lot but has high potential power; that prospect will have a high prospect rating. & is in high demand. Prospect B, who is pretty good in defense, gets on base & takes extra ones but lacks power, that prospect has a much lower prospect rating & is ignored. Twins & most of the league buy into that player evaluation, so they draft, hold on to players they should trade & trade players they should hold on to, One tool prospect A is expensive, 4 tools prospect B normally is not. IMO, Twins are trying to change, but the old system is too much in their DNA, When OBP analytics came around, it totally revolutionized the league. Those who didn't change fast enough were left behind. But HR geeks have taken over completely analytics & warped the outcome. HRs are everything & defense, baserunning, fundamentals, hitters striking out & intangibles like heart are not important. Those who wake up & rightfully balance their player evaluations will, IMO, will have a leg up on those who don't & those who don't will be left behind. Some like to read into what I write, so let me make this clear; I highly rate Culpepper & wouldn't want to trade him. But what Houston brings to the table, I'd rate him over Culpepper. IMO, Houston is untouchable but if a team bowls me over with an offer I can't refuse for Culpepper, I'll bite. I agree Houston is very underrated. Thanks for the article.

    A #3 SP, IMO, was a priority, to slot behind Ryan & Bradley, in a postseason play. Still, This deadline has been the best in a long time (of course time will tell at how good), which isn't saying much. I'm not a fan of a 6-man rotation. But looking at the condition of the rotation & pitching, normally runs out of gas going into the postseason, I'm in favor of it in this case. The BP has been bottom feeders all season. Now they are in the top half of the league, maybe in the top 10. Still, CLE & CWS improved too. It'll be an interesting finish. It'll be a good experience for younger players in a playoff race & hopely in the playoff.

    IMO, this Hoffman trade is the best deadline buy we've had, in a long time. Very comfortable with who we gave up & we got a proven closer, who wants to prove himself again. I'd grade this deadline at least an C+ (normally it's been lot lower) & could even grade it much higher, depending on how Kremer works out.

    SEA is a much better team on paper but in reality they are close, so it's not surprising that we decisively won the 1st game & lost 2 walk offs in SEA. In the long haul we are a better team where we'll make the playoffs & SEA will not.

    I had a lot of hope in this team after they canned Falvey. Although they had the worse team on paper for years, I believed the problem wasn't the players. And under the right administration they could do something. Yet, I had my doubts if Shelton was the right manager for the the job & if he was his own man. So far, he has won me over. I liked Zoll but not neccessarily as a GM. Would he draw from his experience in LA or his mentorship under Falvey? I can't blame Zoll for not taking care our needs in the offseason, because he wasn't in charge, Falvey was. I'd really liked if they had landed a #3 SP to slot behind Bradley & Ryan, more than anything. That would also improve our BP because we could transfer Prielipp & Zebby there. I like the Minter trade & was happy that the HOU nixed the Larnach trade but I hated the Kremer trade. Now, I'm all in favor of dipping into our farm to clear out some over-hyped prospects for legit targets but, Reyes is a fast rising prospect with a lot gas & Kremer wasn't impressive as a SP. Maybe, they saw something in Kremer that they could unlock to be that #3 SP? & all prospects are lotto tickets, Reyes is a long ways off & maybe he doesn't make it to the MLB? I'm willing to give Zoll the benefit of the doubt. I value the ability to trade in a GM. Trading is something very difficult & IMO, most GMs are poor at it. Zoll job is under evaluation. Like I said I like Zoll & hope he draws from the good management of the LAD, they do things right.

    As much as I would love for this to happen, if the Reds are trading Greene, they aren't competing; if they aren't competing, they won't want a rental in Jeffers.

    IMO, a MLB/ MLB trade should have been done earlier when we were desperate for high leverage RPs. Now, IMO, our target needs to be an upper rotation SP, these trades usually require prospects. We have prospects that we can & should trade. Let's make a smart trade (not a Kremer type) happen

    I'd love the Twins to go out & get Greene. Yes, Houston is the SS of the future but we need a SS now. I don't trade Culpepper because we need him now, IMO, he's ready. I'd include Tait instead. We have LH hitting OFers so Emma could be in that trade. Reds need a lot of help in the OF, I'd throw in Gonzalez (was in the top MLB 100). IMO. Tait & Gonzalez have a lot of hype & won't make an impact for the Twins. Emma, Tait, Gonzalez & Gallager would be a fair trade but the Reds aren't the Twins. There'll be competition for him, so IMO, they'll want a better SP prospect than Gallager. I'd throw in Hill or Soto. I'd be OK with that trade, but they'll probably want Quick or Prielipp. I'd hesitate to make that deal.

    A good entertaining game, they could have won that game & felt like they would. Morris didn't deserve the loss; he did everything right. A good veteran 1Bman would have made that play but Lewis isn't there yet, I don't fault him, he'll learn from it. Sure, every play you preplan what you're going to do under each scenario. But that was reactionary play & reactions at 1st are different than 3rd. The reaction of a 3rdman, in a play like that is to run to your base (like Lewis did) you still have 2nd or 1st for a force. A 1Bman has nowhere to go for a force out. That's why they keep practicing plays like that & years of experience, so you gain confident & it becomes natural. Yet many 1Bmen would not make that play. It would have been nice if they won that one, they would be flying now. But they didn't, so you go on & win the next one.

    WOW, maybe the Twins will decide to sell Ryan, Jeffers & Larnach, to take advantage of the market because Buxton is hurt, while saying we're still competing. Nah, Twins have been hanging on there even w/o Buxton. Twins will take that into consideration, IMO. nothing much will change.

    For me, it's not about how much you spend in a trade, it's about how well you trade. IMO, Minter is a step in the right direction, but Kremer is not. He's more about Twins usual making a trade just checking off a box, & say see we traded for a SP, instead of making a good trade that moves the needle. This was a step in the wrong direction.

    I wouldn't mind even trading a higher prospect, who has been really hyped for a much better SP than Kremer. Kremer adds very little this year & nothing next year. Surely not worth the real potential of Reyes (go big or go home). I really hope that the Twins see something real that they can change that makes a big difference & not HOPE that he can become what he was before. Not a fan of this one, but I 'd love being proven wrong. Zoll is in the spotlight, will his time in LAD shine or will his time with Falvey prevail? I'm hoping for the prior.

    Rodon was headliner, any value he can give us he has to do it now & he's not doing it, He'll be very quickly squeezed out by Jenkins & Rodriguez. Rojas can become a very good SP but IMO most of his best potential realized will not be as a Twin.

    Last deadline, the only trade I liked was the Jax/ Bradley trade. It was a fair trade; we gave up a good player & got one back. But the whole idea of selling at the deadline was to make a killing & that never happened. We gave up a lot of talent for a lot of pie in the sky. The trade I hated the most was the Varland trade. The trade might have looked good on their weird analytical paper but they & many have undersold Varland because they overlooked his potential. When he sputtered in the rotation, I advocated to keep Varland up & transfer him to the BP & not waste his bullets in AAA. When they finally brought him up to the BP, they quickly traded him w/o giving him much time to prove himself. TOR saw his potential; it's a pity that the Twins did not & traded away a hometown boy with a lot of heart & a dream to take his hometown team far into the playoff. It broke my heart to see his reaction to the trade. That trade made no sense to me.

    I like it. I'd like more to see a solid SP, especially now with Ryan dragging. Transferring Prielipp & Zebby to the the BP, where they can be elite to very good.

    Clemens has been a solid player. His stock just went up. Way to go Clemens! Stole victory out of the jaws of defeat. How many times can we do that w/o Buxton?

    IMO, since Zoll had free reins, he could have done a MLBer/ MLBer trade for a legit high-leverage RP, early, which would have put us in a much better position to take the division. Now, we need to go big & get someone like Gausman to bolster the rotation & squeeze Prielipp & Zebby into a position to excel in the BP. We have some hyped up prospects that can get the job done w/o touching our future.
