  1. Twins training staff has to be the worst. So many odd and misdiagnosed injuries over the past few years...
  2. They're inching closer to being sellers at the deadline for sure but hopefully that prompts some interesting shake ups. Wouldn't mind seeing Cabello, Thomas, and Gibson up and Butera let go. Hopefully Willingham ups his trade value soon, Morneau too though I'd love to see him re-signed. Benson can't have much appeal anymore with Hicks, Arcia, Parmelee, Buxton, and perhaps others showing much more promise in the OF.
  3. Never seen him pitch but he can't be any less ready than Hicks, Hernandez, Parmelee, Hendricks, etc. He deserves a shot at some point this year, I hope it's soon.
  4. Wilingham's team worth and trade value is falling. I like him but thought they should have moved him at the deadline last year when his stock was at it's peak and without realizing they'd be decent this year. Thought the same about Morneau but would love to see him re-signed to a team friendly deal especially w/ Parmelee's struggles in the Bigs. Morneau will start hitting dingers soon enough I think.
  5. It's about locating your pitches. No walks and nothing over the heart of the plate. Soft hits...not so bad. Hard drives and crumby hitters getting free passes...not good.
  6. I thought it to be a good sign they came out of April near .500 w only a few guys playing up to their potential. Except for SP there are a lot of pretty high ceiling guys at every other position and plenty of decent options at SP. They're not a terrible team, now everyone climb on Oswaldo Arcia's back and take a ride from the cellar all the way to the penthouse baby!
  7. Unless or until they sputter Dozier and Carroll are serviceable leadoff guys. In my mind Hicks has a long way to go before he merits a move up in the order.
  8. They have to send Hicks down over Arcia don't they? Hicks is the future but isn't playing like a quality big leaguer to this point, Arcia is.
  9. Call Gibson up already for Chrissake! He wouldn't be the 1st project they've thrown out there this year, let's see what he's got.
  10. Unless Mauer moves to 1B or goes down it doesn't matter much who the backup C is for the next 5 years or so. Doumit is a pretty nice fit for now though and with these kids coming up I think it's safe to take Butera off the 40 man soon.
  11. Thomas deserves some time up. He can do everything Ramirez can do, or if Hicks got sent down a couple weeks or a month it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. I understand his upside but a .120 average is what it is so if a guy's killing it in AAA he ought to get a shot. Even if that guy is Clete Thomas.
  12. Wouldn't mind seeing more Carroll and Escobar at 3B myself. Also put me in the Sano 2014 lobby.
  13. Gardy's an average manager in my opinion. Not great but not terrible. Guys love playing for him though and that should count for something. The Yankees' domination of theTwins can't all fall on Gardy, at some point your studs need to come through in the clutch. I'm rooting for Gardy but if they bring someone else in that is better suited to lead the Twins back to the promise land, so be it.
  14. In my opinion Carroll & Escobar are a better combo than Dozier & Florimon (love what Dozier is doing at 2B and lead off, I'm just sayin...) unfortunately the latter don't have the value off the bench as the former either. Escobar is pretty young so I don't see why he couldn't develop into a solid everyday big leaguer, not saying he's going to, but it's possible.
  15. Yep he's gotta go down, for awhile at least. Let's see what Gibsons got if Devries or Deduno aren't healthy anyway. Didn't mind Gardy sending him out for the 6th so much as leaving him out there to face Fielder with 2 men on. Pretty risky and obviously, in hind sight, not smart. Hopefully he completes his comeback someday but right now he's a liability.
  16. I agree on Plouffe, he may not be an every day guy. Glad Hicks is coming around, I was all for sending him down a week ago. He's doing OK but taken some suspect routes to balls and doesn't always look like he's striding at 100% to chase them down. All for Dozier holding down #1 spot in the lineup for the foreseeable future. Love Escobar's game.
  17. I think this team has pretty high ceiling options at nearly every position. The fact that their record is decent with only 3 or 4 guys really playing well should be a good sign. Time will tell.
  18. It seems clear that Buxton and Sano are pretty special. Why not move them up quick? Not like there's a bunch of studs standing in their way, if the twins start tanking these guys should be pushed through the system pretty aggressively I think.
  19. I agree. Don't think he'll be effective until late in the year, by then it might be too late. Hope we're wrong, I thought he was a good pick up when we first signed him
  20. That's good observation/research. Has there ever been a case where a player stopped switch hitting as a pro and found greater success or vice versa? Think I remember reading the twins weren't always sold on Hicks as a switch hitter as he was coming up.
  21. Love watching the twins right now and reading about these up and comers. Can't wait to see these kids play on a daily basis and see who sticks from the present club (probs just mauer). Hopefully the good times keep rolling.
  22. I think Morneau and Willingham have at least a few good years left in them. Any chance a deal involving Benson and Parmelee could fetch a decent arm? If so maybe they're a free agent away from being a pretty tough squad in 2014 and beyond.
