  1. Wait till we see what Rosario can do before we decide what to do with Dozier. I think Rosario is next to a sure thing when it comes to stud potential.
  2. Some of the "success" of these signings are relative, in that, on a better roster perhaps they don't make as big of an impact. Serviceable players on the cheap is one area where Twins FO excels though.
  3. Not sure what Miami's needs are but maybe a Plouffe or Harrison, Rosario deal would do...? Or Hicks and 1 of those 3 with a couple more throw ins? I'd hate to see Rosario go but w Dozier playing well and Polanco coming up we could probably afford to lose him especially for a guy like Stanton.
  4. True. It's still frustrating when management is constantly shedding payroll but then saying "we're not about respectability, we're about winning." Well, they havent been getting much of either the last few years and hoping for wins a few more years down the road isn't a fool proof strategy even given the bright outlook of the future, I'd be disappointed if I was Mauer.
  5. Why is the 40 man spot a big deal? If there's one thing this roster has it's players that are expendable. Anyway, I realize he's not going to get called up, I'd just really like it if he did so there was a reason to watch baseball this fall.
  6. He may not be ready but the arguments that a Sept call up would hurt his development are hard to understand. If he doesn't get called up his season is done, if he is called up he gets to play baseball every day surrounded by big league coaching and players. I would imagine that is good for development.
  7. So it's impossible to improve via free agency?
  8. Fair enough but the payroll is down $45 million from the inaugural season at Target Field and will probably be even lower next year. You could pick up some serious talent with that kind of cash...or save it and lose 90 games a year consistently
  9. I like Florimon & Dozier but get more excited about Santana & Rosario. Both have exceeded expectations but I consider them replaceable although Dozier is making that a hard point to argue lately and looking like he wants to play in the all-star game at Target field next year or something.
  10. I know the Twins won't trade Mauer nor would I want to see that but why pay him all that money if you're not going to put better talent around him?
  11. Give him a Sept call up and start him at AAA next year until he's ready. I don't care if he learns humility so long as he hits bombs. Despite Arcia's struggles he's still arguably been the 2nd best hitter on the team so I have no problem with his early call up this year.
  12. Why did you have to bring up Matt Capps? Now my whole day is ruined.
  13. He is. Just saying it's an alternative to moving him back to SS. Prospects like Rosario and/or Polanco could make us quickly forget about Dozier and Santana appears to be a more natural SS. There are options and that's good.
  14. I also thought the Twins could be competitive by 2014 but watching this team and seeing highly touted prospects like Hicks and Gibson struggle (Arcia has been decent for a 22 yr old rookie) is a reality check and it seems more likely that Joe Mauer is going to be washed up before the Twins make the playoffs again. Good to see Jake Mauer getting props for his managing skills though, another good option to replace Gardy with along with Molitor.
  15. If Dozier continues to be decent they can trade him when Rosario is ready. Not like he's irreplaceable, he's pretty average while Rosario has stud potential
  16. They don't need over priced players per say, but ones that are good at baseball would certainly help
  17. Even w/ the low expectations the Twins have managed to disappoint. They need to sign some big free agents this off season. Hoping everything works out in 2016 is not a good strategy and sucks for Twins fans that want to follow baseball past June
  18. Seriously, a four game suspension for watching an obvious home run leave the ballpark... that's stupid
  19. Plouffe's defense isn't great either (its kind of bad) and they shouldn't give him away but if they could get something of value he's certainly replaceable
  20. First off, I don't think Sano's trot merits a benching, most great athletes carry a bit of swag and it didn't even look that bad to me. Second, I think the twins could get a good prospect, maybe 2, from the Yankees for Plouffe and Romero is playing well enough to be a stop gap until Sano is ready.
  21. Why not try Albers at this point?
  22. Why is everyone so disappointed with Parmelee? The whole lineup stinks, at least Parmelee is young and still has time and room for development
  23. Parmelee is pretty much on the same development path as Plouffe. Until recently, Plouffe really only had one good month of MLB. Parmelee will be a decent player eventually, probably better than Plouffe.
  24. I agree that sending these guys down in a lost year is silly. Calabello deserves a call up but not sure I'd send more than 1 of those 3 down unless transactions are in the works. What's up with all the IFs and only 2 OFs?
  25. "I have to mention the Twins have been extremely poor at trading players at the peak of their value. Instead, they tend to sell low or give away." Good observations here. Fien and anyone else that has value and doesn't factor in to the 2016 plan should go. I'd keep Mauer, Arcia, Hicks, and Gibson and take any reasonable offers for anyone else. I once thought there was a lot of upside in this lineup but it's bad...especially with runners on base.
