  1. Not knocking you Manglitch but I just don't get the love on TD of the idea of moving Sano to first when he has been playing well at 3rd. We have so many first base/DH types that we do not need to make Sano another one when he is fully capable of playing 3rd. I would rather give Vargas first base and let Grossman be the DH when Mauer is done. And, oh, by the way, we still have Mauer this year and next AND he is still one of the top producers on the team even if he is not the MVP/Gold Glove/Batting Title guy anymore.
  2. And Kinzler is not on any of the lists. Does WAR in general rate relievers poorly or is this just the result of our RP corp?
  3. Dang it, I forgot about Grossman... I guess he goes between Berrios and Buxton. I believe Buxtons defense and the great need for Duffey and Kinzler are so important I move them up my list. I'm probably under rating Polanco still but I also had a hard time not putting Castro on the top 10 because of what he brings that does not include his bat...
  4. Ok, I will reply then read what everyone else said so that I am giving an opinion unbiased by TD. I will also not look at the roster or stats. Hmm... Sano (That one was easy...) Santana Dozier Kepler Mauer Berrios Buxton Duffey Kinzler Polanco Now to read what you all said and reassess my off the cuff list
  5. We have to recognize that what was a thin pitching staff has been decimated by injuries to the MLB club and the MiLB reinforcements. Also, what everyone had expected to be a rebuilding .500 club has been better than expected despite the lack of starters and over extended relievers. Keeping the long view of 162 game baseball seasons, I'm just enjoying that were in first and that we have a legit lineup with good defense to build around.
  6. And this is exactly my opinion with Kinzler ranked 5th ATM. I do not know if we have a 6th pitcher that belongs on a winning team but we might... Some of them may pan out in time and if they were protected by better pitchers around them.
  7. Wade was named to the Southern League All Star team http://twinsdaily.com/topic/26229-2017-twins-minor-league-all-stars/
  8. In 206 at bats, Palacios is hittting 3230/367/519 with an 886 OPS. He has slugged 10 doubles, 5 triples and 7 home runs. It looks like he needs to work on his base running as he has 8 stolen bases out of 15 attempts. He is also more of a swing the bat type guy as he only has 10 walks to 38 strike outs. That really stands out to me after just updating Lamonte Wades page. Defensively, Palacios has a 957 FPCT which is his best % since coming over to the states. He has played all 440 inningns at SS and commited 9 errors on the season. He has also helped turn 24 Double Plays.
  9. Wade has cooled off some since my last update but he still has some robust stats with the stick. He is hitting 288/419/412 for an 830 OPS. He has 39 walks to 30 strike outs in 215 plate appearances. He is up to 9 doubles but hit only one more HR (4 total). He now has 5 stolen bases but his unblemished record now has 2 Caught stealing blemishes...Oh well. Defensively, he has more than doubled his time in CF since English was sent down but he is still primarily a Left Fielder logging 295 innings in Left, 62.2 in CF and 49 in RF. He has a 988 FPCT in Left and 1.000 in CF and RF for a total FPCT of 991. He has also thrown on 11 outfield assists. They need to stop trying to run on him... I give him til the end of the month before he is moved up to Rochester. That will be shortly after his NEXT hot streak.
  10. Harrison is now hitting 203/301/287 in 143 At Bats. He has struck out 45 times. While horrendous, these numbers are actually coming up (Slowly). The kid needs to catch fire before the draftees start getting signed or he may find himself a mid season roster casualty or a throw in on a Dyson Trade...
  11. Have there been any Chargois sightings in FM EXST lately?
  12. Vielma has made 60 plate appearances for Rochester so far and his hitting 237/250/271 for a 521 OPS. He only has 2 extra base hits, both doubles and one walk so far. (SSS, he has only played 15 games in Rochester) He has also struck out 16 times and grounded into 3 double plays. We will give him some more time to adjust with the bat... In the field, he has already committed 3 errors but his 961 FPCT is better at SS in Rochester than it was in Chattanooga. That may be because all 140.2 innings in Rochesters defensive line up has been at SS instead of splitting it back and forth from 2B. Vielma has also helped turn 12 double plays already in Rochester.
  13. Over his last 3 starts Mejia has pitched 18 innings allowing 6 runs for a nice clean 3.00 ERA. He has dropped his WHIP from 2.04 to 1.5 and his OppBA from 297 to 265. Over those 18 innings, he has struck out 14 hitters while walking 6. His full season stats are not pretty (yet) but I think they will get there. 2017 Season: WAR 0.2 W-L 1-1 ERA 3.95 Innings 27.1 Allowed 27 hits, 5 HR 4.6 BB/9 7.9 K/9 Opponents Slash 265/356/510 for an OPS of 866 against (297 BAbip against) Average 4 Seam Fastball 93.19 MPH (Thats 1 MPH faster than average) Average Spin Rate 2471 (League Avg is 2227) Considering how poorly his year began, this is a nice recovery. With some time and coaching, I believe Mejia will have a nice career here behind Berrios and for the time being Sanatana. He is making a nice third pitcher but he will have more bumps in the road so be Patient TD faithful...
  14. Love to see how serious the Twins are getting about the data. I Would love to hear from Jack Goin about how his department is changing...
  15. Agreed and that wasn't the point, the point was OPS omits the value of a stolen base and when the guy stole 50+ bases last year, a skill translatable but probably not to that height, there is a value there beyond just the hit tool. That is disruptive + his defense... I do not advocate replacing Rosario, I like Rosario and think he will come around a bit, but Granite has a niche on the MLB club in the long term.
  16. Ok, so I went and did the math and if you add his 7 Rochester stolen bases to total bases and figured that into his slugging he would have a 440 slugging and a 750 OPS instead of 686
  17. Right but it would be like saying he has 16 doubles this year instead of 6... maybe like a true OPS in the 700s instead of 650s.
  18. With Granites ability to steal so many bases and those extra bases not counting in OPS, his OPS is deceptivly low. A large percentage of his singles are like getting a double... I'm not saying this well but I think you get my point....
  19. My main point is the second sentence... The call up needed to be someone ready to go because (first sentence) you need to be able to use that call up in game one. I should have reversed the sentences for that emphasis but typed that on a short break at work...
  20. Great update, Thank you!!
  21. I think Busenitz should get a shot soon as well but you cannot argue against Wimmers and Rosario getting shots. Wimmers has worked his way up and had his first shot at the show last year. I would like to see him get an extended shot this time around and see if he can settle in. We just need a couple of these relievers to really come through at the next level.
  22. Did Orioles fans have the same reaction after the Twins Sweep? We had a bullpen that everyone knew was getting a little overused going into a 15 inning game. What the bullpen needed was a pick me up. Santana did ok getting through the seventh and you then HAVE to go with one of the call ups because of the night before. You have to call up someone ready to finish that game one. Having failed that, the rest of the weeks bullpen performance isn't all that surprising to me. It's halfway expected. You can't take a mediocre bullpen and over expose them and not expect them to turn into pumpkins (two years in a row) We need an elite go to in a pinch reliever to emerge or be acquired before these bullpen questions will be resolved.
  23. Wade has a habit of spending half a year at a level before promotion. I definitely can see him in AAA with a very outside shot at a Sept Cup of Coffee. I think that would take an injury, trades, or a whole team melt down but I think there is a possibility to see Wade in the Majors this year.
  24. I don't know if it is fair to say 4-5 starters. I don't see any 1's but I see potential 2-3's in the list. I think Mejia is most likely a 2-3 if he can gain the confidence to attack and not nibble. He has some nasty stuff that has left some of these MLB hitters shaking their heads. If the kid can put it together, he is not going to be an Ace but he is not a 4-5 either. If he does not put it together, he's not a 4-5. That's just how prospects work. We just gotta get used to young guys taking lumps early and learning (Now I'm talking about Berrios too...)
