  1. What's a real nice pkg though?? IMO they would need a C/ Bucholz or Lester and two of 2B/SS/3B and one of their top SP prospects at least..then I consider it...maybe!
  2. It's true it may force Gardy to bat mauer 2nd but without a decent leadoff hitter it won't much matter. I can live with Mastro at the beginning of the season if Hicks/Benson can step in around June. Wouldn't suprise if Twins sign a cheap CF in the latter parts of FA to bridge the gap.
  3. Still need another option at 3B(Hannahan likely) and SS....my guess is Dozier will get every opp at 2B cuz I think we all believe he will hit. Throw in 2 more starters and another BP arm and let's play.
  4. Less then ZERO!!!
  5. Don't see us paying for Marcum but 2 of Liriano/Lannan/Myers/Saunders is a possibility...for sure 1 of em???
  6. Can't see how you could be the least upset for this trade. This is a GREAT get for Revere...I'm shocked we got a starter and a top SP prospect for Ben...WOW!
  7. I don't se ANY way Revere fetches a potential #2 or 3 starter...NONE! so why not hang onto him for another yr. He hit .300 last yr and is a stud defensively, so give him a full season and see if he can continue to improve. You need coverage in that OF with Hammer and possibly Parm.
  8. Great post. Funny how Terry Ryan was derided for calling the free agent market thin when according to the posters here there aren't any pitchers good enough to play for us. Don't get me wrong, I think the asking prices on some of these players are pretty obscene, but is there any real difference between bitching about the price before the guy is signed and whining about how the team missed out after the guy signs somewhere else? That said, Dempster would be a good idea for a year or two. I really like Dempster. Three years though? Not so much. Not bad but doubt he does it..
  9. Agree totally! with 70 charger
  10. Yeah guys you can't bitch about no pitching but then bitch about the money it costs to get FA starters....just doesn't work boys can't have it both ways. Now I agree...NO on Dempster but if he's commanding and will probably get 12-13 mil per season for 2-3 yrs from someone then what do we expect to pay for anyone decent??
  11. I just think people tended to overvalue Span, especially the last couple yrs with his injuries. After 2009 I think you would have gotten much more for him obviously but with his injuries in 2011/12 he's been really an avg player. He has very little power thus doesn't drive in alot of runs and has hit .300 once. I think this is about what you could expect to get. I'm OK with this trade.

    Mauer Trade:

    Doubt they trade Middlebrooks either
  13. Obviously not a suprise...the trade of Span or his destination. Hard thrower with upside which are both needs for this org.. Don't follow the minors enough to know anything about this guy except what i read.
  14. Late May...early June...should be the goal. That could take him thru the season.
  15. How does Torii get these contracts????
  16. Would you trade Willingham and Span for Lincecum? NO and NO!!! Timmy is not a top starter anymore, he may not be a 3-4 anymore. He thrived in the pen this postseason and more then likely will finish out his career there plus isn't he owed a boatload of cash still??
  17. Do you think the Twins are really interested to get Buerhle and his big contract? I dont think they really are. Twins will not touch that contract....MB's best days are behind him...no thanks!
  18. Nothing groundbreaking...I think most of us feel the same way.
  19. Agree! If you want that kind of money coming off TJ surgery then you have to give the team an option if things go well, plus I have to think the Twins offer was significantly less. Odd for a rebuilding Cubs team to pay that kind of money for maybe a half season...
  20. I'd definitely do Span/Benson but doubt that would be enough.
  21. Isn't Hicks considered to be pretty close to the big leagues??? doubt they trade him now unless he's part of a pkg for a true frontline starter. Are any of these names considered #1's?? If not then I look elswhere.
  22. HAHAHA! ...Twins do that deal in a second, problem is this is'nt a video game. Vernon Wells???? really! short of the worst long term contract maybe ever by a baseball team it's a good deal. Maybe football is your sport buddy!
  23. I also am suprised to hear this...the Twins should consider him but not for top talent. Span and a mid level prospect might be all I'm willing to do.
  24. If this is about trading for Andrus, I would hope the Twins tell the Rangers to pack sand. No way Span and Arcia = Andrus. Oh God NO!!!!
