  1. I must be watching games without seeing. Elite! Near #1 ace! First, Twins enjoy the services of no elite pitcher. Second, of course this improbable transaction needs to satisfy both teams. My observation is that Ryan starts like a house-a-fire, fastballs only. Works against some teams only. Velocity slowly decreases, walks and home runs often follow. He's a decent pitcher, only. And what happened to “trade at high value”? I believe him to be more a strength than liability, but starting in mid-July you will begin to see his pitching history repeat itself. Even if I felt differently a fair trade for need(s) makes sense. And no, I do not feel similarly regarding Lopez and Ober. And flip Paddak indeed; they’ll be lining up for sure.
  2. I wish I could grasp all the numbers; still not sure how I passed stat. About first and second bases: sorry, numbers aside, neither Miranda nor Julien plays with confidence, and failing that we see both defense and offense shortcomings. I’m understating. Average arms, under average bats, forced errors. Stop it! But there are in the wings players skilled sufficiently for either position. They’re infielders, on the verge of the show. And if they’re skilled AND can hit a lick, they would be better placed in needed positions. Am I making sense? A capable infielder, with all that engenders, will adapt to any infield role, with some modest experience. The arm, instincts, and intelligence will show, and in one season. I’m for the kids getting chances as will be the forced situation for pitchers. Seems the cupboard is bare of dollars, but not players.
  3. Never tried this before so…. l absolutely applaud responses regarding improving the Twins’ face, package, image. Lots to be done. Improvement and expansion, rather than tearing apart. All franchises have their warts. So in this process, where everyone’s input matters, please don’t forget the women’s perspective. They too love baseball. The best will offer quality ideas, many of them different from the rest of us. Start with Marnie Gellner, both for her ideas and for names of those who have sought, or offered advice for improving the Twins baseball experience. You’ll likely need to openly solicit responses, but they will be (mostly) good ones. Further, and I’m aware some females are in the Twins employ, hire some more. I have some years of experience with this where occasionally I got more than I bargained for, but the women’s view is often more creative and inclusive. In the end, very worthwhile.
