  1. At least we know who to blame if Pelfrey's goes south. This actually takes a lot of pressure off of the rest of the posters. People can relax knowing if there is a Tiger offensive carnage -- that it was not due to anything they posted -- but was already set in motion by Danchat. I don't think Pelfrey will be happy if this is the reason he ends up in the bullpen when Nolasco comes back.
  2. It is a little too early to tell how it will work out -- but there are some signs young Joe Mauer has potential to be better this year. I think we know who we can thank for that.
  3. I have seen evidence (not here) of people on the internet who think he should be able to do this because of the contract.
  4. Yes - I was just going to say that he as having a bit of a defensive rebound prior to the concussion. Too bad he did not win that last golden glove. I believe he was the runner up (or in the top three). That said the concussion happened. Even after the concussion, Joe was reluctant to give up catching. He was shown a bunch of medical evidence from different sources, why he should not return to catching. I think once he made the decision, it was (rightfully) final and irrevocable in his mind.
  5. Wait -- the Bob Newhart/Prince/Siamese cat thing actually happened?! I woke the other morning thinking I must have imagined it in some sort of lurid fever dream.
  6. Maybe throw Delmon in there, but perhaps they would be concerned he might charge someone not in the visitor's clubhouse.
  7. I don't think of you as old exactly, but more of a pioneer -- someone who is probably studied by kids in their History of Sports Reporting classes. Someone who perhaps saved his first sports article on a floppy disk. A valued relic who has a wealth of history and memories of distant times. The Sid of his medium.
  8. If I remember my catechism correctly, this is an image that is found in the book of Revelations. I think they ended up with the Whore of Babylon and it led to bad things - like Nishi level bad.
  9. He is saving that for a play-off game thread -- so you will have to wait until October.
  10. With Bob Newhart's dry sense of humor and Prince's ego and you have something (not sure what - but something).
  11. I think they are close to the same height - they are almost like Twins. I think I had a watch similar to Bob's in that pic as a kid, but with Star Wars on it.http://www.studiohowell.com/blogimages/starwars/vader_watch_02.jpg
  12. I am thinking I might need some assistance with a fermented beverage before I fully dive into this game thread. Plus, I need a good night sleep tonight - and need to stay away from disturbing images and thoughts.
  13. I should probably go back and read the thread and see what led up to a mini-Prince on Santa's lap, but I am not sure I want to know... (although I am sure the lead-up to a creepy Santa and mini-Prince was very straight-forward and logical and used a lot of sound baseball discussion).
  14. I just logged on and this is the first thing I see. This might be the oddest thing I have seen (and probably least related to the actual game), and that is saying something. The bar for strange and random was already pretty high for the game threads.
  15. Great - this post pretty much guarantees a blown save.
  16. I think the short story is CB is a legendary figure, similar to Santa Clause or the Easter Bunny that might have been based on a real person (or rabbit). Now kids all around the world talk about Circus Boy updates during baseball season. I know it is always hard on parents when their kids get to old to believe in Circus Boy but can only hope that if his spirit lives in their heart so will baseball.
  17. That is a common mistake - Frankensense was not the herb that came back from the dead -- but rather the herb that brought the dead herb to life, not the monster herb itself.
  18. One of these jobs would pay really well and give you celebrity and fame and unlimited wealth and professional success, and the other one would require being a talk show host.
  19. One positive thing about the opening series with the Tigers and White Sox, it has made everything else seem like play-off quality baseball.
  20. I wonder if when he was filming his movies he was thinking -- I brought down Egypt, I was involved with splitting a sea, I was married to Lily Munster, and I had a kick-ass beard, and now I am making films that will never win me an Oscar and have a real bad barber.
  21. I think that was Moe's real name. Tchaikovsky is on this birth certificate - but they called him Moe for short. His true love was ballet - but his movies with his brothers were what really paid the bills. I think that was always a bitter pill for him to swallow.
  22. The biggest difference is there are not as many cheese curd vendors at the Chicago Fountain.
  23. I have heard it is more of a non-monetary compensation -- pride and sense of inner well being for being allowed to be part of the TD Machine. Plus, I think you get a promise of a special one percent discount on stock purchases when TD finally decides to become a public company (rumor has it being the spring of 2017).
  24. Does the score count if it has not been tagged by Circus Boy or one of his certified updaters who update in his name (which would be a dream job)?
  25. I suspect when you were younger, you neglected your sideburns and would drink chocolate milk before noon. That kind of reckless behavior will haunt you. You kind of forget how young Mauer was when he first made it to the bigs.
