  1. He does have experience as a right-wing blogger, which will help him write his opinions. He somehow forgot to disclose that he is the husband of the chief of staff to Trump's White House counsel: The pictures of Trump laughing at Duterte and looking like they are best buds is also a little sickening. Trump does like leaders who rule with an iron fist.
  2. Technically not Trump - but reflects the golden age of politics that he represents. (Unfortunately, Trump is more of a symptom of the state of affairs, and his eventual exit will not magically solve the broken state of our politics). On why it is ok for a Senate candidate Roy Moore to be with a teen: "Take Joseph and Mary. Mary was a teenager and Joseph was an adult carpenter. They became parents of Jesus.”@jimzeigler, Republican State Auditor of Alabama Sadly, Moore has such a sorted history besides, that it should not have taken this to have people question him. Also, putting aside we should have different standards than 2000 years ago, Mary did not exactly become a parent because of Joseph.
  3. I would prefer Hosmer crossing his name off the first base award and giving it to him. Wasn't he the least worthy defensively of the three finalists? Congrats Brian -- although I suspect it was not the defense that won him the award.
  4. Combine this with Pence's philosophy of never being alone with a woman (and calling his wife Mother) you have a group of enlightened leaders who are going to really move things forward. If any other person called someone Pocahontas it would cause an outrage. Trump barely even gets called out on it. The bar is set so low for him he could probably have trick or treated in black face and it would be moved on from two days later (unless he kept reviving it in his twitter feed). He called Warren Pocahontas again today, three days after proclaiming November 2017 National Native American Heritage Month. Also, there is something unsettling about the President of the United States wanting use the DOJ and FBI as if they were his personal task force.
  5. I suppose better now than January or February. Best wishes to him.
  6. I think it began, "my Father and my name are going to get me this degree, so I don't actually need to learn anything or develop any critical thinking" (or empathy or soul...).
  7. Sadly, Trump's tweets today were in direct response to talking points he heard on Fox & Friends - he even tagged them. He has all the intelligence available to him from various sources, but he goes by what he hears on what is basically a propaganda network. Also, his comments attacking Schumer, while reprehensible just for the fact that the day after a Senator had his own constituents killed Trump attacks the Senator rather than offering support and condolences, were surprisingly not that accurate. The bill he was referencing was signed in 1990, while Schumer signed the bill he was a rather junior senator, and the bill was signed by Bush Sr. It is not like it was a signature bill of Schumer's and the Senator is not responsible for the killings as Trump would like to imply.
  8. One of the bigger evils this Presidency has created is giving his sons a bigger platform. They have all the arrogance of their father with maybe even less self-awareness and without whatever strange savvy Trump Sr has. @DonaldJTrumpJr Follow Follow @DonaldJTrumpJr I’m going to take half of Chloe’s candy tonight & give it to some kid who sat at home. It’s never to early to teach her about socialism.
  9. Mauer trying to find ways to move on from the snub. I suspect those girls might have him wrapped around their little fingers.
  10. Trump would be a great poker player. When you look at his twitter feed of the last week, he has been so calm, cool, focused and collected, you would have never known something was about to break. He will do great working with the Asian world leaders next week, including the king of China.
  11. He does seem to talk a lot at first base - maybe he annoys the other players. (kidding - and I have heard he actually has a sense of humor in real life). I suspect the players and coaches don't have a lot of time to watch the other players except when they are playing against them, don't study their stats from the current season, and vote more on the player's general reputation rather than who actually deserves if for the current season. I think that is why it sometimes takes a deserving player a few years to get in the running and why they often are still considered after their defense has slipped.
  12. He will just have to show them by winning the World Series MVP next year.
  13. He has not even had found time to even give it a tweet of support or acknowledgement. He has tweeted about ten times today, and it is all patting himself on the back, still talking about the election, and airing personal grievances. He also had time to spend four hours at his country club. Sometimes I don't think the welfare of the country is his number one priority.
  14. Only Trump would actually say "I am better at calling the families of dead soldiers than other presidents". Very galling due to the fact that it took him 12 days to publicly acknowledge the loss of the soldier in Niger. At least someone actually called him on it and he had to back away from his statement and former Clinton, Obama and Bush people all responded that was not the case. The way he makes people who he is at odds with issue statements how great he is is very unsettling. I would say Mitch sold his soul today, but he made the sale years ago.
  15. Sadly, this has been proven to be true in just about any sort of situation where someone can vote.
  16. Most likely something to do with his misshapen ego and to soothe his malignant soul. Supposedly the executive order he signed to day basically lets people buy the worthless junk insurance policies that will do more harm than good. You look at his twitter feed, and you would think the biggest tragedy occurring right now is how he is a victim to the lying media (who largely just reports what he says). He makes Nero playing the fiddle seem like a great humanitarian doing deeds of kindness and charity. and yes, those PR tweets....
  17. I think people should stand for the flag, but forcing them to stand is a much bigger insult to the flag than taking a knee. There is also something disturbing about the President of the United of States using his power and financial threats to force a business to adopt a policy so he can get his way and brag that he got a "win". Forcing an appearance of patriotism is a scary road to head down as is having a President who seems to not be adverse to abusing his power to get people to bend to his will (and bow down before him) and thinks his view is the only view. I also think the NFL is going to exacerbate their troubles if they do this. They are underestimating or possibly just be dismissive of how many of their players feel strongly about these issues (or worse case scenario are like Mike Ditka and think there has been no oppression for 100 years). Amazing that Trump has not even tweeted about the deaths from the fires or the service men killed last week. There is nothing horrible enough out there that could eclipse his malignant narcissism and thinking beyond himself.
  18. They might have had a better chance of evading the planned part of Pence's being so publicized if Trump did not have such a need to have his ego massaged and had to tweet and brag that it was his idea that Pence should walk out. In case you want to need to do more shopping... Not surprisingly, Trump wants to make Columbus great again, and in his official Columbus Day statement made sure their was no mention of the Native American population. Trump is also already using the Las Vegas shooting in trying to get campaign donations. You could not make him up of he did not exist.
  19. From this excerpt this interview must be all kinds of horrible. Trump is at his most vile when interviewed by someone kissing his behind. Also, it would be nice if Puerto Rico still was still getting decent media coverage besides when Trump says something stupid and/or insulting.
  20. I would like to think in some future, more idealistic time -- they will do it simply because it is the right thing to do. On a lighter, not at all scary note, he tweeted not very veiled threats of military action against NK again today - in a rather glib tone "Sorry, but only one thing will work!"
  21. .@PressSec on birth control mandate: "[POTUS] believes that the freedom to practice one's faith is a fundamental right in this country." It is a fundamental right if it is the right kind of faith and then it also has the freedom to impose its views on others...which might not have been what they were going for in 1789.
  22. She is just a straight up Demon.
  23. Agree with this - but do not want to "like" it. I did see a comment from a Sandy Hook "truther" today -- I can't even....
  24. This is not frightening at all. It is amazing how he just goes on unchecked by the GOP, Ryan will occasionally tsk tsk, but none of them want to risk their agenda even if it means he is leading us to numerous disasters. They place the corporate tax cuts and repealing of health care above the safety of their constituents. Possible nuclear war and possible collusion with a hostile foreign country seems to be a secondary concern to them if they get get their donors what they want.
  25. I actually think it says a lot of Perkins that he had a stormy patch with the organization and did not let his ego get in the way and not only worked things out, but ended up being a big part of the team for a number of years afterwards. I did enjoy his interviews, since he was not quite as guarded and cliched as the typical athlete. It is too bad he could not have lasted a couple of more years and been a more active part of this season (and hopefully an even better next season). I thought it was interesting he said this is the closest team he has been on in 12 years - hopefully that will continue to next season as well.. One of the best memories of the Target Field All Star Game was Perk closing it out.
