  1. The reason is that for many guys they will never be good enough to force an established player aside for a spot in the lineup. The premium 'specs like Buxton, Sano, etc. they will learn pretty much 1 position and stay there until they get up, because they are good enough that you make room for them at that position when they are ready. For everyone else, you may need to move off your 'natural' position in order to ever have a shot at making it. Most teams would prefer that you learn those other positions in the minors, rather than the majors.
  2. They may not win ballgames, but they do a hell of a Brother Louie cover. [video=youtube;exl0oSfTSoY]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exl0oSfTSoY
  3. No, according to LEN III, the latest plan is to see how he fells after Monday's off day. LOL, you could hardly make it up.
  4. Correia is not consistent (except maybe consistently bad), why is he in the rotation?
  5. Pinto can't DH, we no longer have a 3rd catcher.
  6. Do you mean the same 24 year old centerfielder that they just DFA'd?
  7. If there is one thing you can never have enough of when you have a 2 man bench it is 35 year old washed up relief pitchers.
  8. There is a good argument that most of his early season success was extremely luck based.
  9. I don't think anyone here is paid millions of dollars to figure out which players are going to help, Terry Ryan is.
  10. Sano was 20 years old, and like you say it was fair to question if he was ready. Meyer is 24 years old, and while there are valid arguments for bringing him up or keeping him down, I think he would be ready whenever he gets the call.
  11. We should think about moving Mauer to a less physically demanding position so he can play everyday.
  12. Sano got hurt before the season started. Had he been called up late last year (and stayed up all year), he would still have 3 options left right now. You are right though, we should just never call anyone up, because you never know what could go wrong. I think we should leave Meyer in AAA for about 4 or 5 more years so that we can ensure team control through his age 35 season.
  13. Mauer has only been good for 12 or more HR's twice in his 10 year career.
  14. I've been told he needs more AB's in minor league games to heal his wrist.
  15. Again, Meyer is an elite prospect. I think too many people are lumping him in with the run of the mill prospects that we've had come up lately. Meyer should not be a guy who you worry about his options. If you end up needing all 3 options for Meyer, something went horribly wrong.
  16. Which is why the contact play is perhaps the dumbest play in all of sports.
  17. I'm beginning to think that you have lived an extremely safe life.
  18. I'm guessing Alex must have been adopted?
  19. I can listen to both sides of the argument and find valid points, and can probably be swayed either way. However, can we please stop this "rushing him up here" nonsense? He is 24 years old. Whenever he does get up here, he will not have been rushed. He is a top prospect, he's not Trevor Plouffe or Brian Dozier or Josmil Pinto, or even Oswaldo Arcia. He is a legit, front line prospect, who would be the #1 prospect in many farm systems in baseball. Those kind of prospects are usually up at a pretty young age.
  20. Why are you judging him based solely on one metric (ERA), and one metric alone?
  21. In other words, expect him back in the lineup about mid next week or so.
  22. Yes, 5 games played in 9 days is grueling, I'm surprised Escobar can even walk, let alone play baseball.
  23. I don't think anyone expects him to be above average at this point. I think people would settle for showing some improvement. I think after last year was so bad, people just assumed that there was nowhere to go but up. Yet, here we are 5 weeks into 2014 and his numbers look mostly the same as his 2013 numbers. When you set the bar so historically low in your rookie year, it raises some red flags when you are not even able to clear that very low bar the next year. I also think it is fair to question just how dedicated he is to baseball. Here is a guy whose bosses asked him to play winter ball after one of the worst offensive debuts in baseball history, and he said, "no thanks, I'm good."
  24. No, I don't blame you, I blame your state run media.
