  1. Accounts were that the Twins tried for a second year when they signed him, but he preferred to test free agency after a year. I don't think he's open to an extension, but the Twins could still try to re-sign him in free agency.
  2. I'm in no rush either... just as long as, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" isn't the reason for keeping him there. That is what Blockbuster Video told themselves. The youngsters here will have to Google that.
  3. I'm not claiming to be confident on it. Simply asking if there is any evidence one way or the other. Perhaps Buxton is thriving because he's batting 9th. But, it could also be for reasons completely unrelated to where in the order he bats.
  4. I only visit on mobile, and haven't once had to re login. I just keep my browser tab open, and when I open it up I'm always still logged in.
  5. Do we have any evidence, and not anecdotal, that there is more pressure in certain spots in the lineup? If I had to rank all the reasons that Buxton struggled in the past, I think I'd rank batting order spot dead last.
  6. No financial decisions are made based on individual wins anymore. If Berrios is upset, it's because he puts his individual stats over the team, which would be very disappointing to me. I think that if he is upset though, it's at himself for pitching poorly, not at Baldelli for removing him.
  7. The team shouldn't make decisions for no other reason than padding a player's personal stats. It matters if the team wins. Which pitcher gets that W on his baseball card is meaningless.
  8. He didn't reach free agency though. The Twins claimed him off waivers. Had he gone unclaimed instead, he'd then have become a free agent, and would no longer be arbitration eligible.
  9. I think he's one of those guys that has a wide margin, depending on if teams think he can stick at SS. If a team is convinced he can stick, I could see that bat going top 10. I'd love if the Twins got him at 13... if they think he can stay at SS.
  10. Sorry, missed that the first time.
  11. Sure, but why not against lefties?
  12. It seems a bit contradictory to me to say that he's the best player to help a contending team right now, while also saying he'd clear waivers if DFA'd. By definition, wouldn't he be claimed by a contender if he's good enough to help a contender win games?
  13. Maybe, but then again, some posters (not me) predicted this when we signed him, due to the high amount of use he'd had prior to that.
  14. Only in Minnesota would, "Why did you send Berrios back out for the 6th?", be considered confrontational.
  15. Money is still money, no matter how much you already have. When I work on a mansion on the lake for a millionaire, they ask if they can pull scraps from the dumpster at the same rate as the working class guy with the 1300 square foot rambler. Why would they give away something that someone will give them cash for?
  16. I don't want players to play if they are so hurt that their performance is negatively impacting the team, as you are suggesting it was. If we are to dismiss any poor performance because, "they might have been hurt", then you are effectively saying that we can never say that a player wasn't good. That's fine if that is how you personally want to view things. But please don't grandstand against me for choosing to use the numbers that a player posted while on the field. If a player chooses to play hurt, that's on them, they still have to own their contributions. I'll just rephrase my initial comment to, Reed was terrible last season, for whatever the reason.
  17. True, but, being the 8th ranked prospect in all of baseball at one time is also part of that history. For me, there was no way the FO signed him to just continue putting up the numbers he had been. The ONLY way it made sense to me is if the FO clearly thought they saw some things they could tweak, which was my argument when they signed him. Of course, there was no guarantee those tweaks were going to work, but I was happy to at least see them attempt it.
  18. In every thread on here about Perez, there is inevitably a post or two similar to the one above mine that you quoted: "Enjoy this run while it lasts because it's unlikely to continue."
  19. I'm not the one who requires evidence as I'm not tossing out chunks of time to support my argument. Let me rephrase my argument. During the time before he went on the DL last year, his collective numbers were not good. I have no idea what the health level was for the players you mention. Playing hurt to the detriment of the team seems incredibly stupid and selfish to me, so that is not a reassuring excuse to me, even if valid.
  20. I'd hope nobody, on either side of the debate, is using a one game sample in their argument. I'm also not sure how many people suggested that Kirilloff needs to replace Cron now. Simply that there is an underperforming place for him when he's ready.
  21. I seem to recall reports that the Twins tried to get a second year on Schoop and he wasn't interested. Barring a major injury or collapse, I'm guessing he's going to test free agency.
