  1. You are a year late on Norwood, that stuff was 2015 and he was runner up last year. My guesses: Blair Walsh Terry Ryan Chuck Fletcher Here are the previous winners: 15- Death 14- Timberwolves 13- Terry Ryan 12- Tubby Smith 11- Zygi Wilfred 10- Brett Favre 09- Tim Brewster 08- Marion Gaborone 07- Charlie Weis 06- Pam Boston 05- Bob Neagle 04- Red McCombs 03- Glen Mason 02- McHale/Saunders 01- Randy Moss/Cris Carter 00- Jesse Ventura 99- Clem Haskins 98- Carl Pohlad 97- Denny Green 96- Kerri Strug 95- Warren Moon 94- Jack McCloskey 93- Norman Green 92- Gophers Football 91- Chris Doleman 90- Kent Hrbek 89- Mike Lynn 88- Lou Nanne 87- Carl Pohlad 86- Kenneth Keller 85- Lou Holtz 84- Les Steckel 83- Paul Giel 82- Billy Martin 81- George Steinbrenner 80- Bobby Knight 79- Pete Rozelle/Bowie Kuhn 78- Woody Hayes
  2. No, if Clinton actually won, and it can be proven with data that she did, then she should be president. I'd argue that you are the one advocating for tearing up the Constitution if you are willing to uphold prove able fraudulent results. We shouldn't be giving the White House to a person who didn't actually win the election just to appease his potentially rabid supporters. It's one thing to have a healthy fear of a country like Russia. It's another to let them walk all over you because you are afraid. Do you really think that Russia wants a war with America? I can assure you they do not. Putin is not Kim Jong Un, he's not a delusional psychopath. He'll push it only as far as he can get away with. He is the last person that wants a war with America.
  3. Sure that might work. It also might not.
  4. Poor pitch framing doesn't only cost you walks. Batters hit much better ahead in the count than they do when behind in the count. The difference between 2-1 and 1-2 is huge, as is 1-1 and 0-2.
  5. I'm not sure where you are getting your numbers from, but Butera last 3 years: .604 OPS Castro last 3 years: .660 OPS
  6. His walk RATE has been a concern at times. He doesn't give up many hits, so that has kept his bb/9 pretty low. I'm not saying his command has been terrible, but there have been concerns about his walk rates and pitch counts relative to his prospect rankings. EDIT: upon further inspection his bb rates don't look too bad either. Maybe I just dreamed it all.
  7. Command has been one of the concerns with Berrios. His walk rates have always been a concern.
  8. So you want to hypothetically allow Russia to rig our Presidential election just do you don't have to confront them? You do realize all that does is make them think they can get away with anything. I'm sorry, but that is a terrible way to deal with a problem.
  9. I don't need points from my PG but I at least need someone who is at least a threat to make a basket so that the other team has to commit someone to defending him. You admit that defense is the problem, then get annoyed when I suggest trading Wiggins. How to suppose we get better defensively?
  10. Don't need a near elite PG, just someone the other team has to at least cover with one defender would do wonders.
  11. Well we can move on from Wiggins since it seems to be distracting from the point. Just find a PG, I don't care how. It's not my job to figure out how. Other teams have good point guards and they weren't all top 3 picks. The Wolves should have another high lottery pick in the next draft, hopefully they can find one there and we can keep Wiggins and Levine and all be happy.
  12. Mudiay can at least score by driving to the basket. He's also a rookie and can improve his shooting. Rubio isn't going to get any better.
  13. Yes, I apologize Kwak. I knew I should have gone back and checked first. I got your post above confused with another in a different thread that said Castro will have bids from contending teams which excludes the Twins. Sorry again.
  14. Westbrook Lowry Irving Lillard Thomas Walker Mudiay
  15. Well you are clearly valuing Wiggins off his absolute ceiling rather than what he is now if you believe that. It's fine, like I said I have nothing against Wiggins, I'm just not convinced he'll ever add another dimension or two to his game. Good scorers are nice, but if they never develop any other parts of their game than they aren't really impact players. I don't really care how they do it, aside from moving KAT obviously, but one way or another they need to add a legit PG or none of this exciting young talent is going to matter.
  16. Sorry if I'm getting you mixed up with someone else Kwak, but weren't you making declarative statements that Castro would not sign here?
  17. Yeah I don't buy this. "Calling a game" is the kind of non fact based thinking that Falvey specifically mentioned fixing, thankfully. Suzuki was lauded for his mythical talent at calling a game, we all saw how useful that was.
  18. Ramos might not be able to catch again. You complain about our surplus of DH/1B types and then want us to get a catcher who might be limited to DH/1B?
  19. It's not really fair to compare guys who have hit the open market vs. guys still under team control, regarding salary. If you can develop talent, your reward is getting underpriced production. When you fail to develop and have to go to FA, you pay a premium.
  20. Amazon is also in negotiations to add NBA, MLB, and NFL packages to their prime memberships. That would be pretty sweet for those of us already paying for prime anyway.
  21. I actually think Wiggins is the perfect trade piece. The scoring ability could blind another GM into ignoring that he's awful defensively and, frankly every area that's not scoring, and overpay for him. He's still very young, so it's tempting to dream about what he could be with a well rounded game, I get that. And I'd rather find a PG in free agency if we can, I'm not a Wiggins hater. But if there is nothing in FA and a team dangles a top 8 PG for Wiggins, I'd do it.
  22. I like the signing, but yes I think we are absolutely at least 3 years away from competing. Sure, any team can luck into a 2015 and play. 500 ball and stick around the 2nd wild card. But, 3 years minimum for division titles. I don't think most people fully realize just how big of a mess Ryan left behind, organizationally. The behind the scenes structure was stuck in the stone age, and that can't be fixed overnight. This team lost over 100 games last year. Loyal ownership groups don't fire a GM that has been part of the organization for 25 years because we are a tweak or two away. In order to think we can be serious competitors in 2 years or less, you have to believe that Ryan's plan was working, and was just a year or two slow. I for one don't believe that. We have a few nice young pieces, but none have turned into stars yet, and the farm is just average. If Berrios or Buxton are a bust, and Sano is just good but not elite, then we could be in for a long, long rebuild.
  23. One of the reasons why batters hit the cover off our pitchers is because they are always getting into good hitters counts. The difference between 2-1 and 1-2 is huge in an at bat, and a great pitch framer can help with that.
  24. Garver projects most likely as a decent backup catcher. Castro isn't blocking him from anything.
  25. The problem, and I'm just as open to flipping as you, is that in such a weak FA class, the guys that would typically get 1 or 2 year contacts, or even ST invites, are going to get 3+ year deals. That makes finding good flip candidates tougher.
