  1. I didn't say he should be considered the PG of the future. I said he should be the PG of the present, until we find the PG of the future. I mean, I explicitly started my post stating that of course he's not a long term solution.
  2. Wisconsin doesn't have any fundamental advantage over us. There is zero reason our goal shouldn't be to develop into the type of program they have. And I'm fine if it takes 10 years to get where Wisconsin is now. I'm not impatient. My frustration is that that's not even the goal, as admitted by the booster above.
  3. The problem is Terry would have brought them back to play.
  4. At least they had the courage to just come right out and say what I've long believed- that they strive for "respectability" and not excellence.
  5. Sure that is fine. I'm just saying I want those minutes to be with Towns and Wiggins, not with the second team.
  6. Figuring out if the Yankees hitters benefit would be the harder part.
  7. Yes I'm saying that. He didn't even try a change. Why throw in the towel when you have a chance at a Big10 title game? It's not my job to find his replacement. But considering Claeys was an assistant for like 20 years without a head coaching offer, and seems baffled by basic clock management, I'd think it wouldn't be hard to find an upgrade. His team is also undisciplined. And like it or not, in college football, you need a personality to sell your program.
  8. Not only that but the embargo clearly hasn't worked. I mean isn't an embargo meant to be a negotiating tactic? When it doesn't work it just becomes punitive.
  9. I'm curious if there is evidence that the Yankees get a more beneficial strike zone, or is that just your opinion?
  10. Well I didn't say we should release Rubio, so it's not like you are stuck if you go with Jones and he cools off. He has good chemistry with Wiggins and Towns, so I don't see why you'd want to keep him with the second team.
  11. And those were all games they could have won with an average QB, that is my point. That will not be the case in any year with Michigan or Ohio State on the schedule. The only hard game was Wisconsin. Penn State was a mess when we played them, and Nebraska is not good at all. That is fine that you are OK with Claeys, I never will be. He put one players feelings (Leidner), over the rest of the team. He didn't even try a change at QB even though Leidner was a 200 pound anchor dragging down the rest of the team all season.
  12. I'd be surprised if Suzuki ended up getting more than a ST invite from anyone. I said that at the deadline when people were wondering why he wasn't traded. He simply doesn't belong behind the plate anymore, and obviously can't hit enough for anywhere else.
  13. Why? Whenever Jones has played this year he's looked like the better fit- to be perfectly clear, I'm not saying he's a better player than Rubio. He just seems to be a much better fit for whatever reason. It's not working with Rubio, sorry. It's nothing personal against Rubio, I've never heard a bad word about the guy.
  14. When your QB is one of the worst in the country, there shouldn't be any pressure to be loyal to him. Luckily we only have to watch him one more time. I feel worst for the rest of the Seniors who know they'd be undefeated, have possession of the axe finally, going to the Big 10 championship game, and possibly playoffs if they had an average or better QB. They will be better next year, losing the burden of Leidner guarantees that. But, they could be better and still not win more games. The schedule made this the year to take and they blew it. Kill blew it by leaving us with Leidner, and Claeys blew it not even trying another option. Gophers football doesn't deserve the axe.
  15. Not necessarily. The easiest and most likely way that Russia would do it would be pretty easy to check. The manual ballot count won't match the count on the machine. That is pretty black and white.
  16. If you can't measure the value of any individual player, then how do teams know which players to keep, and how much to pay them? I'm fine thinking WAR can be improved, but I don't understand not even trying.
  17. I get your point, but Tebow was extremely productive in college. Some in the NFL got teased by that combination of production and size, and gambled they could tweak a couple of things. There has been no such tease by Leidner, unless it's as an H back type.
  18. Correct. Jones may not be the long term option, but provided he can stay out of foul trouble on a nightly basis, he should be the main point guard going forward. Maybe mix in Rubio more often against dynamic offensive point guards that Jones can't defend.
  19. Catcher ERA is a pretty worthless stat on its own. You'd have to adjust for which pitchers they caught, and for opposing lineups. Suppose the manager was more likely to use Castro with a poor pitcher against a tough lineup because he figured the pitcher was more likely to need the help in that match-up? And perhaps he uses favorable match ups as a good day to give Castro off. Without context, this of course is going to give Gattis an advantage in catcher ERA. I'm not saying that happened, just pointing out one of probably many reasons why catcher ERA is worthless without context. Pitch framing is something that the catcher has some control over. Catcher ERA is dependent on so many other factors.
  20. Butera has not out hit Castro. My response to you 2 pages ago: I'm not sure where you are getting your numbers from, but Butera last 3 years: .604 OPS Castro last 3 years: .660 OPS Herrmann is an awful defensive catcher. He is a corner outfielder who can play catcher in a pinch.
  21. I wish I could remember where I read it, but I read a great article from a computer forensic expert, laying out the most likely way the hypothetical tampering could have taken place. If it did happen as he theorized, a manual recount would work just fine, as the paper ballots themselves would be legit, it would have been the chip installed in the ballot readers that were giving phony counts.
  22. Why are you bringing up last year's results for the football team? This is an award for 2016. 8 wins with a cupcake schedule, that is great if you are happy with mediocrity. The schedule will never be easier than it was this year, so if you are happy with this being the best we'll ever be, then that is fair. Some of us would like to see them take the next step and compete for the West every few years. Jerry Kill? The same Kill that left us with no other option at QB than the awful Mitch Leidner? The Gophers are undefeated going into Wisconsin with even average QB play. That is on Kill. And fwiw, I'm with you on Reusse. My last straw with him was hearing him on his radio show taking about how disgusted he was seeing a woman breastfeeding at a baseball game, topping it off saying, "she wasn't even good looking!" You are right, he's not much of a human being.
  23. Yeah of course you still need to show Hillary won. I'm not saying she automatically wins just because there was fraud. It wouldn't be too tough. You throw out any fraud ballot and recount the results.
  24. What do you mean by now what? Getting those calls is better than not getting those, so it has value. And I doubt you can name a single player in baseball with at least 1000 PA's who has better numbers behind than ahead.
  25. I'm pretty confident that almost every hitter in baseball hits better ahead than behind.
