  1. Hultzen and Starling.
  2. Do you have any basis for that number, or are you just making it up? It's common for people to celebrate their accomplishments. It doesn't mean they are always intending to ONLY disrespect someone.
  3. Not sure how you could know their intent, without ever having met them.
  4. This might be true, but hitting it for a line drive has the potential to reward the hitter with multiple bases, or even a home run.
  5. I think there is always an off day scheduled after a home opener, because teams charge a premium for home openers, so they can make up a postponement on that off day, and it will still be the home opener.
  6. Well three Twins players (out of 25), didn't think the bunt was fine. That's certainly less than 99.99%.
  7. But then we shifted, telling them that the game was very much not over.
  8. Wasn't it well into the 40's in Pittsburgh? A bit too cool for shorts and sandals, sure, but not too cold to feel with your fingers by any means. And that's downright balmy if the sun is out.
  9. Shorter, 6 game road trips would result in 41 flights per season, versus 34 flights with 12 game road trips. That is 20% more, I think that's substantial. And these guys don't travel like regular people do. I don't really understand what would wear them down. They don't stand in lines at the airport, they don't have to drive to/ from airports and hotels. They are in 5 star hotels, and most of them aren't from their home team city, so they are living in a hotel even when the team is home. So the only difference between home stand and road trip is a 1-3 hour flight, on a chartered jet, every 3 or 4 days.
  10. Aside from Mauer, is anyone on the team actually from Minnesota? Not sure why the weather would give one team an advantage. I'd imagine we have roughly the same number of players from warm weather areas as the Astros do.
  11. Perhaps when they didn't hold LaMarre, they were conceding the game. But then when the Twins decide to shift, they figure, ok, I guess we're still playing?
  12. If the bunt is questionable, is the decision to shift also questionable?
  13. Do you have any data to prove this? What would be wearing them down?
  14. Personally I don't think the schedule can be unfair as long as every team plays 81 each. Does when they play them really matter?
  15. I feel the opposite. Baseball has always been, and likely always will be, my favorite sport. But I'm not impatient enough to sit in 30 degree weather to watch it. Warm summer nights are part of the essence of baseball, to me. I'd much rather swap out these early season games for more home games later in the year.
  16. I think teams charge extra for home openers.
  17. When people point to small sample size, I don't think they mean to suggest that results don't count. Just that there aren't many grand conclusions that can be drawn from them, as every player who has ever played the game has had awful single game performances.
  18. I'm sorry, I don't think I'm making myself clear. My issue isn't with how they handled it, really, it's with their opinion that he did something wrong. Yes, everyone is entitled to their opinion. But all that means is that the government can't oppress them for it. It doesn't mean i have to respect them for it. I think every one of us has lost respect for someone based on learning of an opinion they have, even if they don't act on it.
  19. I meant to say confront, not chastise (which is what i said in the other thread), but why is Dozier even considering saying anything to him if he doesn't have a problem with it? The rest of his quote (where he suggests their veteran leaders will set the kid straight), suggests that he has a problem with it. My problem with it has little to do with how quickly they moved on (though I'm glad they moved on, if they did), or whether they were prompted or not. My problem is that they feel he did anything wrong in the first place.
  20. The Pirates pitchers only issued 3 walks today, so I'm not convinced the umpires strike zone was the problem.
  21. Well I'm glad they are moving on, if that's true. But I disagree that it wasn't a deal for the players. I certainly don't think Dozier would have considered confronting the player at second base if it was never a deal to him.
  22. I don't find their opinions any more tolerable, just because they were asked and not given unprompted. And Dozier's comment that he was considering chastising the player at second base suggests it was closer to the front of his mind than the back.
  23. If you are in the minority, then I'm joining you!
  24. Waiting to be asked about it, rather that saying it unprompted, changes nothing, IMO. The correct answer if asked about it, IMO, is "what are you asking about? We shifted him, and he beat it. Heads up play by the kid over there."
