  1. Bases loaded. Jays have the Twins right where they want them. Incoming GIDP.
  2. Brooks Lee: Who is this Culpepper character people keep talking about?
  3. I don't hate the lineup. I had stated yesterday that Wallner needed a day off and that his bat was becoming worse than Larnach in the field. I like that Morris was called up. Possibly a glimpse into the future. Many of our best pitchers started here as a call up for a reliever.
  4. I was going to suggest Altavilla, but I also see that he is not on the 40-man roster. I don't see Raya coming up just yet. He just pitched tonight in Toledo, and I would surmise that if he was to be brought up that they wouldn't have pitched him.
  5. Shelton update: Lewis and Laweryson both going on the IL. Getting a fresh face in the bullpen will be helpful, but I'm sad for Laweryson since he was looking to be one of the better options out of the pen. Lewis just seemed to be doomed after he tweaked his knee yesterday.
  6. I noticed right before the game started. While I still want the Pohlads to sell, It does seem that Tom is not oblivious to the world and understands that he needs to pull out all the stops to try to get rears in the seats.
  7. Someone forgot to tell them that these aren't Twins hitters that this bullpen is facing. The Jays will swing at fastballs, especially middle-middle. Only the Twins hitters let middle-middle fastballs go by.
  8. I wouldn't expect that anyone would fear Wallner enough to bring in a pitcher just for him.
  9. Like I said earlier in this thread. It is looking like Wallner needs a day off. His offensive woes are affecting his fielding.
  10. I'm pretty sure the Blue Jays didn't sign Corbin because they wanted him. They were likely desperate since their team, especially their starters, are largely on the IL. I'm not sure if there is another starter out there currently that the Jays could have signed that would be better. If he can limit the Twins to just the three runs, he did his job keeping the Jays in the game with the hope that the offense can bail him out.
  11. A quality start is where a starter goes 6 or more innings and gives up 3 or less runs. That is an ERA of 4.50. Corbin is still riding that line.
  12. I posted in the Jeffers story earlier today that his improvement in pitch framing will help him. I think Vlad Jr saw Jeffers move his glove back in the zone and thought he was stealing a strike, causing him to challenge the pitch, almost baiting him to challenge and lose.
  13. Wallner desperately needs a day off to clear his head. I would even consider putting Larnach out in the field to give Wallner a day off.
  14. I'm glad the challenge worked out for Caratini. I'm not sure I would have done it in that situation.
  15. It has always been a dream to get one of those rooms that face the baseball field so I could watch the game from the comfort of my own hotel room.
  16. I do think that Jeffers' ability to utilize the ABS challenges and his improved pitch framing will be valuable in his next contract. For the people who think that full ABS is coming soon, I would counter the current play challenge system had to be tweaked every year to include or redefine what could or could not be challenged. The same happened with the pitch clock when that was implemented as there were loopholes that needed to be closed. The ABS challenge system will be around for a while before going full ABS, possibly until the next CBA negotiation with the umpires, which is not until 2029. Good pitch framing may become more important in an ABS challenge system. Let's take Wallner's inability to know where the strike zone is and consistently make bad challenges. Think if you have a catcher with good pitch framing skills baiting a batter into wasting an ABS challenge. I would also contend that Jeffers' winning percentage in ABS challenges will help get him borderline calls from umpires due to the umpires not wanting their calls to be challenged.
  17. Using the odds pulled from ESPN's website for beating Skubal and Valdez:
  18. Hear me out. Player of the game is Wallner by not needlessly burning an ABS challenge and saving them all for Caratini!
  19. Loved that challenge. Caratini won it and forced the batter to now protect that part of the plate.
  20. I was going to say draw a walk, but the hit came through!
  21. Shoot. Here is where an extra bench move would be helpful. Pinch running for Wallner or Caratini.
  22. Little surprised that we burned Martin. I figured he would be a better fielder than Clemens in LF.
