  1. Miranda getting the call. Even though they're short an arm in the bullpen, this makes sense. Offense is so anemic right now and with Martin and Margot not getting any kind of run, might as well give Miranda a shot at 3B / 1B.
  2. Sucks about Duarte. Hopefully whatever the injury is, it isn't serious.
  3. Something to be said for continuity but also as much to be said about hanging onto players for too long. Kepler hit his ceiling a long time ago. He should be a platoon player at this point. Good teammate and certainly some sentimentality but the Twins should have moved on from him this off-season even if it was a low return.
  4. It's not about trying or effort, It's about approach. It's a feast or famine approach. They will eventually start to hit some homeruns, but the strikeouts aren't going anywhere. We've already seen that this type of offense doesn't lend itself to the post-season. The Twins should still win the division, though. The Tigers might be a year or two away and Cleveland, meh - everyone would look good after having played Oakland to open the season.
  5. He's off to a great start, but I still consider Correa to be the team's best player and hitter (when healthy) at least until Lewis gets back.
  6. Oh, and why is the team's best hitter and player batting fifth?
  7. Stayed away from the thread today because I was too much of a negative nelly on Wednesday. But, woof. I cannot stand this team's approach at the plate. All the Twins had to do today was make contact and they probably win the game. Silver lining - bullpen looks good and Rocco's not afraid to use guys for more than an inning at a time.
  8. Fair enough. At the end of the day, we're all on the same side. I will make an effort to be more even-keeled during the game day threads. And absolutely agreed on Correa. Twins are lucky to have him!
  9. Paddack / Varland - Only concern with the former is health and with Varland, keeping the ball in the park.
  10. I trend to be negative during game days. My thoughts on Popkins and Rocco are well known. I think there's enough of a track record for the negativity to be justified. Overall though, I like this roster and think they're capable of having a good season but-for the two aforementioned...
  11. 3-2. Perhaps my gloom and doom was a bit unwarranted, but game days do not know rational thoughts!
  12. Until the Tigers play a team with a pulse, I'll remain skeptical...
  13. 18 pitches for Jax - does he go back out for the 9th? Twins can make it moot with a couple of runs in their half...
  14. Would think Okert gets the 8th to face Yelich but I don't know much...
  15. AK is finally healthy...and comfortable. This is why Rocco just needs to sink or swim with Julien. When a player isn't afraid of getting yanked, the game becomes easier.
  16. Stud...no other way to describe him. When healthy, no one I'd rather have at shortstop.
  17. I dislike Rocco (obviously) but I'm not going to freak out over Stewart coming in for the 7th.
  18. Not enamored with what they got back for Polanco. I think the 2024 team is better with Polanco than it is with Kepler and that would've been my motivation. But, admittedly, there were different motivations (financial) at play...
  19. Regardless of how bad the team may be, Correa's a stud. One of the best.
