  1. Hernandez though no one will be hearing from him for awhile.
  2. He even has a machine gun named after him.
  3. One of these things is not like the other ones, one of these things just doesn't belong.
  4. Why is Smarjzilla 5th in their rotation?
  5. Stop that Chi, we need those hits.
  6. Oh boy biscuit tacos from taco bell..................... Ill take 2 with a large doritos flavored mountain dew please.................
  7. I like Milone throwing in to the righties more, makes that changeup away nasty.
  8. It would be nice to have a lefty specialist, Duensing doesn't make life much harder for lefties. But its not that big a deal, the bullpen is in a holding pattern until some kids start to claim their spots. Hopefully there will be a lot of movement in that department this year, making the group of extremely replaceable arms that are currently being brought north serve their purpose of being easily replaced.
  9. Problem is May and Pelfry haven't really shown a propensity to avoid jams or get out of them. I would have rather they gone with May but Milone can be a more than serviceable 5th starter, and maybe can even build up a little trade value for when May/ Meyer force their way to the MLB.
  10. 2. I am high on Gibson, he has the stuff to be really good. RHers get eaten alive by the sinker when he has it going, its damn near unfair. He needs to get LHers out and end 2 strike counts quicker, if he does that with a little more swing and miss stuff with the uptick in velocity or better command of his off speed stuff watch out. 5. I'm not ready to panic about Meyer, but if he can't crack the rotation this year he is probably in the bullpen. The stuff is there but he has to be consistent with it, I think the Deduno comp as a good thing is kinda funny considering he is in the bullpen in Houston now where the wild guys end up.
  11. Dominate bullpens in the modern game are a major advantage. You can more supplement a less dominate starting staff with a dominate bullpen. Closers are overpaid and overated somewhat but bullpen aces are not. You want your best reliever to pitch as many high importance innings as possible, if there are good hitters in the 9th that is often the moment, but if its facing the 3-4-5 hitters in the 8th or getting the crucial out in the 7th that is the optimal time weather a save is available or not. If there are 2 or 3 shut down guys 1/3 of the game is near gone no matter what order you put them in.
  12. I could definitely see that or Pelfry. I don't want him anywhere near the rotation but I am mildly intrigued by what Big Pelf might be able to do coming out of the pen and just throwing that sinker as hard as he can.
  13. So if they are done Hughes Santana Gibson Nolasco May/ Meyer Graham Oliveros/ Tonkin Thielbar Duensing May/ Meyer Fien Perkins
  14. The depth of the pitching market leads me to believe that TR is going to find a mid range, Nolasco-ish contract that he is agreeable to. My money is on Mccarthy or Masterson, with Santana probably being the splurge and Hammel the generic brand. I think they will sign someone and that is going to make a weird logjam once they finally decide the prospects are ready. Meyer/ May could be started off in the pen but its seems like the successful cases of that are usually young guys with absurd stuff they just can't quite harness yet, at 25+ that is not really the deal anymore. So Hughes, Gibson\ Free agent, Nolasco, ________. May probably gets his shot but how tied to Nolasco (or the free agent) are they with contracts in mind over the next couple years and the prospects coming up?
  15. Has anyone checked hell? Is it frozen over?
  16. I am alright with this, its a nostalgia signing but at least it should actually work (unlike Kubel, Bartlett, didn't they resign Jones for a moment as well). Nice that it is one year, if it goes good they can do it again and if it goes bad, or prospects force the issue, its done. His bat is still good and he can slide into somewhere between 3-6 in the order. As a bonus point he might be able to get Hicks going and Buxton isn't that far away TR's sacred center field lineage is back.
  17. I don't think they should commit long term to Plouffe, he isn't an ideal fit for this organization going forward if he is one of the mid to bigger salary eaters on the roster. He has certainly improved a lot and looked like an actual big league 3rd baseman last year, but it would be foolish to block getting the utmost value out of Sano which is at 3rd. Then Plouffe has to become Micheal Cuddyer, can he adjust to the outfield like Cuddy did? Can he continue to progress with the bat? That is the gamble you have to take if he doesn't adjust your stuck paying 10+ to Cuddyer lite. I would ride out his arbitration years seeking a trade partner, if that happened sooner than later that would be fine because Escobar is much cheaper, more versatile, and a better defender.
  18. Gyorko got 5 and 35, Seager got 7 and 100, both are comparable players and I would expect Dozier to be somewhere in the middle of that. 6 for 50-60 is in the neighborhood for Dozier. I wouldn't mind if he got traded but I think he gets resigned because he is becoming a major club house presence and seems like the kind of player that is right up Molitor's avenue.
  19. I think they submitted what they thought was a middle of the pack posting offer and the market ended up being lower so they won. My memories of the Nishi era are somewhat trauma repressed, but I think that was kinda the situation with him as well. Now they have a somewhat unexpected avenue to pursue a new arm. This video from the Beisbol article shows him throw a 8 inning 0 run 5 hit game, he looks like he has decent stuff in it. He appears to be tough of lefties with a little bit of 3/4 funk to his delivery. Threw somewhat erratically, missing bad on some pitches and throwing darts with others. Fastball was good when he could locate, slider was decent but not great, a few curves looked nasty, and the change up really threw hitters but he left it way up a couple times. There is a major need for lefties at the top of the organization so I think this is a decent move that fell into their lap. Milone/ Darnell was about it with starting potential before this so good to add Yang to the mix.
  20. That swing is awful noisy, his hands travel all around in his load. Last year Santana really surprised me having so much success so early because he had some of these same knocks against him, doesn't take a walk, overly aggressive, questionable if hes ready on defense. He made the jump seamlessly because of his super polished swing and Rosario doesn't have that going for him. Make him earn it in AAA, I like that they are being more aggressive with prospects (position guys anyway) but some need the AAA time.
  21. I won't mind if they try another reclamation project, but Ubaldo is going to cost a lot of money for a pretty big gamble. I guess I would do it if the O's ate a huge chunk of that contract but that would probably take giving up a decent prospect and that's probably a waste of a prospect.
