    Twins are going to have a top ten BP. Perkins is going to establish himself as an elite closer. It's just unfortunate how the rotation has been neglected. Miraculously, the Twins still could save their chances of competing by acquiring Chris Young and Chris Capuano. PLEASE

    I think all the teams in the central will be competitive except the Twins. I like Cleveland, KC, and Chicago's chances equally. If I had to pick just 1 who I think is most likely to challenge Detroit for the division I'd probably choose Chicago.

    "Given those facts, I don't understand how the overall offseason can be characterized as "bull****". To be sure, it was a mixed bag. But it was not without some quality. The fact that he signed Correia instead of, say, McCarthy doesn't make an otherwise decent offseason into total bull****. "--Yeah I think it does because now we are all forced to watch him fail. We all know it's going to happen and even while it's happening they will still sit there and say they believe in him and he's about to turn a corner ect.. essentially sabotaging 20% of their games before the all-star break.

    I will NEVER get over the embarrassment the Twins and all their fans endured at the hands of the Yankee's during Gardenhires tenure. He has to go.

    I think it's more complicated than that. Morneau might be begging to be traded if this team is as bad as I fear it may be. Beyond that the performance of Toronto's 1B will play a factor. There's the Yankee 1B drama. Then you also have to wonder couple other thing, this is all assuming Morneau is really back to pre-concussion form for the first half of 2013, 1) What does Justin's representation think his value is going forward vs Terry Ryan's idea of his value 2) Does he really want to stay with an org. that won't spend money to get championship quality pitching? Every player wants a ring.

    I expect good things out of the Twins middle infield this season. I don't expect those things to happen until Florimon and Dozier are replaced by Escobar and Carroll. Am I the only one who thinks Florimon and Dozier aren't ready to be big league starters? I'll take consistency over potential up the middle.

    Watching Pelfrey yesterday he reminded me of Jon Rauch. Now obviously 1 is a starter and 1 a reliever but that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about they're similar in height and the kind of "stuff" they bring to the mound. Maybe Pelfrey is Pavano 2.0 and the Twins can get 1.5 good seasons out of him. Here's hoping!

    "That is the great, fair opposite question that is also fair to ask. Most Twins fans say that Drew Butera doesn't provide enough offense to make up for his lack of offense. But we rarely hear the opposite."--Not since Delmon left anyway. Something tells me that any sort of extended slump at the plate for Willingham would bring back those same grumblings.

    Who got banned and what things exactly were said that led to all this hoop-la? Woman hating? Alaska Nebraska?

    I know that most don't project Sano to hit for a high average but to me he looked like an extremely young Albert Puhols.

    Twins can't catch a break. I'm not sure they deserve one either. You reap what you sow.

    As a true American I believe the all communication should be allowed short of threats of violence. Why do people everywhere think they have the right to not be offended? In the words of a very close friend of mine "If you can be offended...you should be!"

    Trying to blame all this on the draft pick compensation is crazy. Obviously Boras wants more than 13 million a year for Lohse's services which is so outlandish I don't know what to say. Lohse is average! He had 1 good year and it was largely luck that his record was so gaudy.

    A qualifying offer is like 13 million! How in the world can you think Lohse is worth more than that? Boras is nuts. He should be blackballed by all the owners.

    I think there's something to what Boras is saying. Still he's more of a problem to the integrity of baseball then that rule change could ever be. Lohse is a fool to turn down a qualifying offer! Especially from a respectable team which is competitive every year like the Cardinals! STUPID and full of himself if he really thinks he's as good as his numbers last season. What bothers me more than him not getting the money he wants is that if he were a younger marginal pitcher he would get a huge contract he was undeserving of. They really need to reign in these contracts in baseball. Boras and the Yankee/RedSox spending wars have led to all this. Baseball needs a hard salary cap so there can be some parity.

    I'm very interested to see if Pedro Hernandez can stay healthy as a starter this season. He could be another "diamond in the rough".

    Why is he afraid to throw the curve to right handed hitters? His slider is complete garbage and should be canned until further notice. I do think Liam can be decent if he changes speed but he still has no true out pitch.

    Escobar is better and I expect he will end up the starting SS before June. I don't dislike Florimon and I hope I'm wrong because he has incredible defensive skills. He reminds me of Casilla in that way. Hopefully it works out better for Pedro than it did for Alexi.

    Gives away Mauers prime? the idea sucks? Mauer sucks. Oh whoopty doo he hits a lot of singles! Go ask Seattle how much all Ichiro singles helped them over the last decade. Go ask Boston how many titles Wade Boggs thousands of singles brought to bean town. Go ask Padres fans about all the titles Tony Gwynn's seemingly countless singles brought to southern california. That's right it didn't happen because you can't have the best offensive player on your team be a singles hitter and hope to win. Mauer is not good enough or man enough to lead a team to a championship! Just a big boring sissy automaton, that's all Mauer is. The Tim Duncan of baseball without the winning. Is he going to lead the Twins to a championship hitting singles up the middle? NO. Just face it he's not even close to Kirby Puckett and the Twins bet on the wrong horse when they gave him that big contract.
