  1. I will give the new FO a pass on this one. You can't make a good chicken salad if you are starting with chicken sh##. The young guys weren't quite ready and until we show improvement What vet wants to sign with us. This bullpen will be totally turned over by the mid season mark. I am hopeful that the new FO is looking at this with the approach of evaluate as we go and then make the harder decisions. Our young guys aren't quite ready but they will be solid.
  2. I agree with you that we really don't know what we have yet. If the stars align and everyone pitches well we do have a logjam. Your points are spot on. Anyone who is in favor of starting Berrios in AAA is in agreement with you too. Berrios has nothing left to prove in AAA no matter how bad He was last year after he arrived in the majors. Its time to sink or swim as he took his lumps last year amid the big club coaches noticing a flaw in his delivery even though our minor league coaches allowed him to pitch this way. May should also be in the starting rotation to start the season as we need to see if his body responds better to every 6th day than up and down and all around in the pen. These 2 have the most potential for anchoring the staff in the years to come as 2 and 3 or 3 and 4 in the rotation. We have to put them out there and let us see if they are capable. Santana is the best we have period. Gibson, we still don't know what we have just like a box of chocolates. Hughes is not part of the future but has to pitch to regain trade value. Hopefully he stays healthy. Santiago is the one I hope to move quickly via the trade route as he is blocking the youngsters path no matter how you look at it. Finally as you mentioned how about the other young arms? I'm all in favor of putting them in the fire sometime this season so we can get a better handle on what we have but trades must be made to remove the clutter at the top. I think the only way we finally have a bonifide number 1 is through the free agent market or maybe a package made up of whatever the other team would want in the following basket of players : Dozier, Santana, Santiago, Hughes, Gibson and a young prospect or two.
  3. My hope is that the young guys play everyday and don't get jacked around up and down like a yo-yo from AAA. Let them play and see what we have and that includes especially in the second half of the season our young pitchers. My one hope is that May is given the opportunity to start and Berrios is penciled in every 5th day. I am just happy we aren't trying to move a 265lbs infielder to a new position just because.
  4. I agree with you and am also dissappointed but I am also much more optimistic about the future with Falvey and Co in charge. In regards to Dozier and Santana you don't make trades just for sake of making the trade. I continue to say Santana is a solid number 3 pitcher and Dozier is what he is streaky, packs a punch and average defensively. IMO, These two players haven't been traded because the new leadership hasn't received an offer that they feel is fair value. These are bright young minds and I for one believe that changes will be made but only when they receive offers that they feel make sense.
  5. I have been a Twins Fan for 50 years. I was raised on a farm in NE Montana and my Dad and I would listen to the games on the radio in the evening after he was finished with his work for the day. Halsey Hall and Herb Carneal could call a good game and Killebrew, Oliva and Carew would become my favorites. Then like everyone else Puckett was the man. I played baseball and basketball in college at LC State in Lewiston ID. and played 1 year in Ranger Organization. Currently live in Vancouver WA. and retired from financial services. Visit the site a couple times a day and enjoy the chance to chime in whenever the urge arises.
  6. Someone else calling you baby - luke bryan Almost a memory now -Blackhawk I'm moving on - Rascal Flatts
  7. The Ting Tings- Shut up and let me go!
  8. Sorry for the confusion. Point I was trying to make was quite simply we don't win when he is playing subpar and win even less when he is tearing it up. Our needs are pitching and more pitching. Young pitchers are hit and miss so the more you accumulate the better the odds of 1 of them being a stud. Dozier is our underpaid asset to acquire this young pitching talent. He will not be cheap next time the contract is signed and we still don't know how he performs in the heat of a pennant race. With the good comes the bad. He cannot carry this team and is streaky with a high strikeout ratio. On a good team he fits great on a bad team he doesn't move the needle. We need pitching.
  9. No disrespect intended.Simply his performance did not translate to more wins or to even a better pre and post all star split was the point. Great performance but not in the heat of a pennant race thus less pressure.
  10. Let's not forget The Twins had 32 wins at the All Star break with Dozier hitting under .250 and 14 bombs. After the break he hit close to .300 with 28 bombs but the Twins won less games. His production occurred when the Twins weren't playing for anything but roster spots and individual stats. Dozier's 2nd half explosion did not translate to wins. At times he stunk along with the rest of the lineup pre all star break. For us to say he was the best of a bad bunch is a more accurate description. I have faith in the new braintrust that they will receive 2 or 3 prospects that will be contributors in the next few years as we reload. Dodgers, Cards, Nats a team out of nowhere I don't care. Young pitchers are a crapshoot so you need to accumulate as much as you can to build a future staff.
  11. Don't you want me - the human league Breaking up is hard to do- Neal sedaka Bye bye bye-Nsync Goodbye to you- Michelle Branch

If we are to move forward and put together a competitive team he must go now. 13. We finally have people running this team that are in the NOW! Why don't we all sit back and relax and let them make the changes that hopefully help us to contend in the years to come. Dozier needed to go and what we get back I'm sure is what the new brains feel is good for us going forward. I AM SO FLIPPING HAPPY WE HAVE A NEW DIRECTION!
  14. I think we have already tried signing mid tier starting pitiching over the past and it just doesn't work. Inning eaters are one thing but when they give up 5 runs each outing it puts too much pressure on your offense. Pelfry, Hughes, Nolasco, Correia,Hernandez and on and on are recent examples. Santana is the one signing that has worked but he isn't a #1 starter. We need at least one or two more studs and maybe one will come internally but we also have to look out in free agency or the trade route to get the other. As previously mentioned the free agent class is bleak for starting pitching so if we are serious about improving this area a trade is the only route. Our biggest asset is Dozier and is replacable with Polanco so why not see what he can bring back in a return along with one of the young assets.
  15. Sorry Vanimal Seth posted before you. I do agree with your 3 players. Youth and so much potential. Tough to trade but give me a Mike Trout and everyone is in the discussion. Maybe all 3 in that trade.
  16. The other question Seth is anyone of your core players untouchable in a trade?
  17. I am hopeful that the Twins Organization and that includes OWNERSHIP has finally turned the corner and decided to join the majority of MLB Teams in the understanding of successful minor league player development and also be willing to swing for the fences when it comes to trade scenarios. No one on this team is untouchable and a new direction will require heavy turnover. The roster has young talent that may or may not be building blocks of our future. I cannot at this point name 3 players who are my building blocks. Kepler, Buxton, Sano, Polanco, Rosario, Dozier, May? We need a young baseball mind that will come in and burn this house down and start building from scratch and that will require patience from all Diehard Fans. We do have talent but sometimes you have to give up that talent in order to take risks on other options. I am hopeful and am ready to make moves that we might question but at least the organization is being aggressive. Signing mid tier pitching, hanging out at the waiver wire and not be willing to trade your best assets is not a successful strategy. With that said I have followed many other posts on this site from some very knowledgeable fans and am curious for your thoughts and who are your building blocks?
  18. I couldn't agree more. I too have'nt posted anything in over 2 months simply because I'm disgusted with the ineptitude of the organization. Tell me how in the hell is Berrios a stud in AAA and nobody sees a flaw for the entire season and then he is brought up all of the sudden we have issues. Polanco wasted away the first half of the season in AAA when there was plenty of opportunities to bring him up and play instead of brought up to sit. At least we see now he should be in plans going forward. As previously mentioned May WASTING away in MR. Sano in RF to start the season. Doomed to failure from the start. I am hoping for a complete overhaul of the entire organization and starting over. Last and not least please find a solution at C. I don't care what you trade just get us a answer. My vent is done!
  19. I'll give you the Nathan trade being better the rest not so sure. Knoblauch had 4 productive years with the Yanks and Milton if you like 4.00 ERA pitchers like TR does then maybe you get this one too.Stewart maybe but if Nunez continues to produce or nets a descent prospect in a trade then not so sure. Jepson forget that one. Point is TR stinks at his job and one big issue with the FO is they don't make great trades. How about moving Perkins when he had value or Suzuki or Hughes. Not going to mention Dozier and Plouffe because that is still to be determined. Poor judgement with trades and free agent signings of mid tier pitching plus his merry go round of top prospects back and forth with AAA without allowing extended periods of play to see if they belong or not. Finally because the Twins are so awful TR is backed into a corner and has to give a longer leash to Buxton, Kepler and now maybe Rosario and Berrios. Didn't even mention Meyer and Polanco. It just goes on and on.
  20. Don't get me wrong Nunez deserves this selection period. There are no second place finalists this year. He is the only player that has surpassed expectations.
  21. Point on TR trade record is that he has none. If this was his best trade then it's a pretty sad resume. However please name another couple trades he has made that have been better. The man can't do his job period. I think I also mentioned 300 AB is about where Nunez needs to be thus a utility player.
  22. I have to respect everything that Nunez has done. A utility player who made the most of an opportunity with a team that has struggled so much that he was asked to do something out of the norm, play everyday. He not only has done so but has played at an all star level. If there is any positive to this season he is by far the easy choice for Twins fans and all utility players in MLB. It isn't often that a utility player makes an All Star team I can think only of Ben Zobrist and Josh Harrison but I'm sure there are more. I can only hope that Nunez continues to play at this level so that his trade value continues to increase or if no other Twins players step up then he will play everyday and play well. No disrespect but Nunez is the best trade that TR has made. Too bad he didn't have a clue what he was getting. Maybe Nunez is a keeper and will get his 300AB every year as a utility player and be able to step in when called upon in the years to come. Note to all utility players, "Hang in there, you never know when your team will be so awful that you may be the sole bright spot in a dreadful season".
  23. Direction comes from the top down. We have a clueless owner with no baseball smarts who relies on Ryan to make baseball decisions. In typical Ryan fashion he answers the question "what he's going to do with Sano when he's ready" with a condensending get him in the lineup. How about firmly saying he isn't a rightfielder I was wrong, that he will play 3rd maybe a little first and DH. How about saying we want to look at Kepler in right and Buxton in center because we need to know that they are our future. What a dumb*** thing to say.
  24. YES we should but don't hold your breath for the incoming offers.
  25. Sano,Buxton,Berrios,Kepler for Mike Trout. The Angels would want more and why wouldn't we listen. We need a Star not hopeful someday maybe stars. Trout has a no trade clause so won't happen but my point is we don't have anyone that is untouchable. I would do this trade in a heartbeat.
