  1. Having a rotation of #3 starters when other teams in the division have #1 and #2 starters along with #3 starters will make it hard to see the postseason. But with injuries, who knows.
  2. Subscribe to Patreon, and listen to yesterday's Gleeman and the Geek podcast. Best $1 you'll spend all week.
  3. He may not have been, but there were other pieces that could have been added to try to land an ace. And the prospects the Twins landed are just prospects. Most of my Marlins fan friends think the Twins got fleeced and I absolutely agree with them.
  4. They're giving up too much in my opinion. They Basically traded a batting champion for a level of pitching quality they already have. So now the Twins have 10 starting pitchers that are all #3 to #5 starters. That's my point. They gave up their leadoff hitter and batting champion for another Sonny Gray. And I might add, another pitcher with a history of injuries. I can't understand how casual fans think this is a good trade. Most of my Marlins fan friends on Facebook think the Twins got fleeced.
  5. Pitchers are way better and throw a lot harder in today's game than in Carew's day so the comparison isn't apples to apples. They are both contact slap hitters with little power who are almost the same build who started as 2nd baseman then moved to first. Arraez is the closest thing to Carew the majors has. There was literally an article on this website with the comparison from last summer:
  6. They overvalued Lopez. He is the typical middle of the rotation starter, not an Ace. He isn't Johan Santana or Sandy Alcantara. He isn't a Cy Young level guy. That's the part that annoys me the most. He is another Sonny Gray.
  7. The bright side is, maybe if this season is a flop, they'll chase the FO out of town with pitch forks while wearing Arraez jerseys.
  8. Except I was waiting for the prices on the new stuff to go down before I did. I planned to buy one after last season but once I heard about the rebrand I decided to hold off. Now I am glad I did.
  9. Do you remember Rod Carew by any chance? That worked our pretty well for the Twins.
  10. Rogers was garbage for the Twins, I think had the Twins kept him, they would have had similar bullpen meltdowns as they experienced with Duffey and Pagan. My issue with this trade is Lopez is not an Ace. He is another #3 starter. If your team is full of #3 starters, you're probably not gonna see the postseason. He is better than Bundy and Archer yes, but I don't think he was worth dealing the reigning batting champ for.
  11. I feel the exact way. This front office hasn't been very good at making trades for pitchers so I have this sinking feeling it will be another fleece job.
  12. From everything I've seen Lopez is another #3 level starter. He isn't Alcantara or an ace. Prospects are prospects and equal no guarantee of any success. I disagree that the Twins come away better from this trade, but only time will tell.
  13. Yep this is a loss. An average pitcher for the batting champion and fan favorite. At least I didn't get an Arraez jersey yet. Oh well.
  14. I hope he starts the season in Wichita so I can go see him play in May.
  15. Absolutely agree. It was nauseating last season seeing guys thrown out at home by a mile because they were sent by Tommy Watkins.
  16. With this current front office and management, I can't see any top free agent pitchers ever coming as free agents. Their only hope are trades and development.
  17. Shayla and 1000 other people bought the jerseys and shirts because they were cheap. It has nothing to do with intelligence. I picked up an Eddie Rosario jersey and t shirt for like $20 each after the 2020 season. It's pure coincidence Correa resigned after agreeing to 2 other contracts.
  18. The Twins medical staff was aware of it last year and were able to convince ownership that it wasn't as big of an issue as it was made out to be since he has never had an issue with it, and ultimately I think for teams like the Mets and Giants the risk didn't outweigh the reward or they were given advice to lowball thinking no one else would come close and the Twins beat their lowball offer.
  19. Upside is he could boost the rotation but he could also kill team chemistry. Not worth the risk.
  20. What to make of it? Nothing. It is an 8 year old injury that everyone knew about and other than one incident sliding into 2nd it's never caused him any issue in the majors.
  21. Possible, but unlikely and I see 90-100 losses coming.
  22. I would love to see a philosophy change: less reliance on the home run and more emphasis on small ball, making contact, using speed and bunts and stolen bases. I can't imagine that happening with current management though.
  23. Yep he seemed to do it at the worst possible times though last season.
  24. Preferably not commit so many horrible base running blunders and stop admiring his hits and hustle out of the box would be great start.
