    Missing the playoffs =/= contending If we had made the playoffs, we would've been slaughtered by any team. Does anyone really think our rotation last year had any chance against any of the playoff teams? I feel like years of failure have made a lot of people set their bars for "success" insanely low. Making the playoffs and getting completely embarrassed in the first round isn't even competitive in my book. Competitive is being in a position where you have a chance of progressing through the playoffs, not squeaking your way into the playoffs only to be slaughtered in round one because your team is not anywhere on the same level as the other teams.

    The Twins aren't going to trade Mauer. No matter how many times we wish it would happen, it's never going to happen. And if by some miracle they did trade him, why the hell would we want to sign him again in a few years if we're competitive? Seriously though, Mauer isn't going to get traded.

    Until Ryan admits that he built this miserable excuse for an MLB team and that is on him, I don't see much happening. They can hem and haw all they want about players need to be playing better, but at the end of the day our roster is terrible, or handling of prospects is terrible, the managing is terrible, and not surprisingly, the result is terrible. Quite frankly, who gives a damn what Ryan has to say? His actions seldomly match up with his words. The game passed him by over a decade ago, and he's done nothing to catch back up.

    My theory on Escobar is that he isn't an MLB caliber player. Unfortunately, I have that same theory with most of our 40man roster.

    I won't lie, I just tune out most of the time Roy gets going on one of his tangents so I was assuming I missed some key piece of the discussion, but I wouldn't put it past him to be putting 100% of the blame the players either.

    Also, I wasn't paying attention but were they really saying the Twins record is the fault of the players and the GM and manager aren't responsible at all? I feel like I had to have missed part of that conversation, or else they must never have looked at our roster.

    Between Jack and Roy, our fill in broadcasters sure are miserable to listen to.

    I don't understand using the all star game as any sort of indication of skill. Kurt Suzuki made the all star team. If each team didn't have to have representatives, the Twins wouldn't be sending anyone this year, or plenty of other years in the past.
