  1. Dick always wants every hitter to lay down a bunt. This is his WTF? moment of the day.
  2. Let's go S'uki clap clap clapclapclap.
  3. By "he" I mean Mauer, mister bunt single.
  4. He should be the lead-off hitter. Gardy put the guy who hasn't gotten on base all year at lead-off last night because of his speed.
  5. How many outs has Correia gotten this inning? Six?
  6. How's that pitch to contact workin'?
  7. Corner outfield defense does matter.
  8. Pinto also getting calls on the black.
  9. Good pitch calling by Pinto.
  10. That Presley decision gets better every day.
  11. With Bartlett retiring today, the Twins will have a spot on the 40 Man for Fuld. But he is probably out of options, so they would have to DFA him in order to assign him to Rochester.
  12. I would echo this. Also, the low strike. The ball now needs to be above the knees to be a strike. Finally, third strikes. On Gameday, the strike zone gets smaller with two strikes.
  13. Favorite Twin all time: Tony O' Favorite current Twin: Mauer Favorite Pizza: Antonella's Lasagna pizza; runner up: Leo's seafood pizza; second runner up: Lou Malnatti's sausage and onion deep dish
  14. He turned on one yesterday. I think it's more a matter of hitting the ball where it's pitched. As long as they pitch him away, I hope he keeps going that way (ditto Plouffe). But he has to be ready to turn on the pitch on the inside. On last night's double, Cabrera was playing him 60 feet off the line. He lined it where a normal left fielder would play. So they've been playing him oppo and taking away some hits. As he pulls the ball more, they'll play him straight away more and he'll get more oppo hits. I'm encouraged he's showing signs of being able to make adjustments. Last year he was not able to hit the pitch on the inside. With his new stance, he's showing that he can drive it. We'll see how he adjusts as the scouting reports catch up to him. But I'm encouraged so far.
  15. I was going to post something like this during the game. Pinto is very solid in the mechanics of catching, espcially compared to other catchers like Navarro: Setting the target, blocking pitches, catch and tag, throwing, etc. It seems like he just needs to learn the game calling thing. But he will.
  16. All this patience with men on base is suspect. Why don't they swing at that first strike more often?
  17. Can't get through the fifth inning. What's the over/under on him swapping roles with Deduno? Pelfrey would look pretty intimidating in a relief role.
  18. The old 90 MPH four seamer at the belt and down the middle. And five walks? Really?
  19. At this rate, Gibson will be the major league pitcher of the month.
  20. I think that's what Nick meant by knucklballer. Name one knuckleballer who can control where the pitch is going. I don't get the Deduno hate. Just look at the numbers. As Nick said, he's been successful everywhere he's pitched the last two years. Yeah, he's 30, but he had TJ surgery at 26. Prior to that, we wasn't given much of an opportunity. At 28 and healthy, he started pitching like he's capable of. Why is his age even relevant here? He's not a prospect. He's a successful reclamation project.
  21. If I'm reading the consensus right, it's something like this: 1. It's too early to give up on Florimon. Give him somewhere between May 1 and June 1 to get his wing back, such as it is. 2. At some point around mid-season, we should give the job to Santana to see what he can do, if for no other reason than to get a better sense of what we have going into the off-season. 3. A few people are arguing to give it to Escobar until Santana is ready. But that is a minority opinion. 4. Even fewer are arguing to give it to Nunez until Santana is ready. I think 1. and 2. can line up well. I have seen signs of Florimon breaking out of his slump lately. Not that he'll ever hit well enough to keep the job long term. But he won't suck overall as stop gap until they think Santana is good enough to get the job.
