  1. If you look at Pelfrey's starts, he has done much better the first time through, before his lack of a quality secondary pitch catches up with him. Also, he might be able to throw harder if he doesn't have to conserve energy.
  2. I don't think they'll be especially patient with either guy. I look for Pelfrey to swap roles with Deduno. And if KC gives them a couple more clunkers, they'll DFA him. They carried Blackburn's contract for two years as he toiled in AAA. KC is in the same position. Meyer is very close. The new change up grip is a game changer.
  3. Oh, I didn't realize that the poster had such a virulent agenda when asking the question. I took it on face value.
  4. I wouldn't say extremely. They lead the league in walks and OBP, two indicators of offensive sustainability. They're about a standard deviation above the typical for unearned runs. That's not sustainable, but it's not extreme.
  5. I agree. Obviously, there are only nine spots in the lineup. But when those first three guys regress, there will be more options, and that will make the lineup more sustainable. That was my point.
  6. Kubel, Pinto and Colabello were not around last year at this time. Plouffe was battling wrist injuries. I think this team is a better hitting team than last year, and it hasn't received anything from Arcia or Willingham yet. Count me as encouraged.
  7. Kevin Slowey was a second round draft choice. You don't take control artists in the top 15.
  8. Presumably Wilson doesn't have options left.
  9. Why is Burton pitching with the tying run in scoring position?
  10. Why is Burton pitching with the tying run on base?
  11. The ball was not hard hit and right to the middle of his zone.
  12. When guys are in there for their defense, and they don't make easy plays, it's maddening.
  13. Dick is reporting that the Twins have claimed Kenny Wilson from teh Blue Jays. I'd rather have Wilson than Mastro at this stage.
  14. Fuld double, Hicks homer. See? They complement one another.
  15. Hicksie tomahawked that one!
  16. Nolasco. Why? Show some life, please.
  17. There's a joke in there somewhere. Loadin' them up with vernix caseosa.
  18. Five walks in the first inning. The Twins continue to hurtle towards a franchise record.
  19. They need two center fielders. They make good platoon partners. Hicks needs days to just work on his swing in extra BP and otherwise watch and learn from the bench. Most young guys do. He hasn't had that all year. Yesterday was his first opportunity to work with Bruno 1X1. And it's kind of deja vu all over again from last year, when they exacerbated his struggles by forcing him to play everyday without any extra work for the first month+. Last year, they didn't have a choice because Mastro broke his leg in the last game of spring training. This year, they could have easily avoided it if they'd hung onto Presley instead of Bartlett... At least they righted that wrong by getting Fuld. His presence will help Hicks.
  20. Mike Berardino ‏@MikeBerardino 6m Alex Meyer had always reluctantly thrown a circle change. Deolis Guerra showed him 3-finger version and results were immediate. #mntwins
  21. Glad I missed all the personal jabs. I'll let the moderators take care of that. I just don't understand why reasonable arguments in favor of giving guys the benefit of the doubt are greeted with flames, but arguments to the contrary are liked a dozen times (reasonable or not). How often must we cite the rule of small sample sizes to people who favor statistical analysis over any other form of evidence?
