  1. He didn't crush it quite enough though. Fortunately Nunez came through.
  2. Can I agree with you? Beltre has put together five out of his six best seasons since he turned 30. I'm starting to have a tough time seeing Mauer doing the same.
  3. I think there is maybe some confusion about the original post. Many people seem to be reading that the OP is calling out Arcia to step up (as the title of the thread might indicate). If that is what the OP meant, I would agree with the majority in that it is much too early to call him out. I suspect that what he meant to say was that the Twins need Arcia to step up or hope that he does if they are going to continue maintaining a .500 record.
  4. Well, he probably bought himself another start after tonight.
  5. Case in point as to why we need to stop all the ripping of Hicks as well.
  6. I had hope that Correia had figured things out after his May 3 outing. He threw 7 innings, 1 ER, 5 H, 0 BB. He had 3 QS out of 6 and really only had one stinker. Now he is up to a 3/8 stinker quotient. I'll be shocked if they don't at least give him two more starts. If the next two are like the last two he needs to be DFA'd. If he can keep them in games up to the Super 2 deadline, keep him until then. I'm with the majority in wanting to see May up. I would like to see Meyer in AAA to continue working on the changeup.
  7. The pitching has been better. BB Ref has them with a 3.92 ERA over the last two weeks, not counting today. There will be improvement at Correia's spot, either by him or May/Meyer. This team already shows more fight than last year's crew.
  8. I've been what some around TD might consider an apologist for the front office in the past. The past few days have been very difficult to stomach, even for me. Thanks for bringing up something positive to think about. By the way, Grantland has a nice article on him right now: http://grantland.com/the-triangle/brian-dozier-minnesota-twins-second-base-star/
  9. And now they are 3-3. The rest of the month will be tough. I'll predict under, but I think they can keep it close. This team seems to have a little more fight than the past three years. The pitching staff seems to be righting itself somewhat, so I think they avoid any major losing streaks (knocks on wood).
  10. It will be interesting to see if they can hover around .500 for awhile. The combined records of the teams they face for the rest of May is 127-118.
  11. Said they wanted low pressure situation. This would be it.
  12. Did I just see what I think I saw?
  13. By the slimmest of margins, but I think you are right.
  14. Yeah, read somewhere (don't remember where) that he was claimed in the "eleventh hour."
  15. Hard as it might be to believe, Correia has a quality start in 3 of 6 starts. Starts 2 and 5 are killing his numbers right now. Nice outing today, assuming he is done.
  16. Rumor has it that the Twins had to think twice about claiming him. Thankfully they did.
  17. Going back to Joe, he is on pace for his worst SLG ever. His "bilateral leg weakness" season was 20 points higher. His average is moving up and his OBP is fine, but he isn't driving anything. Anything up in the zone that he could drive is a swing and miss right now. I hope it's just the weather and he at least starts driving the gap for some doubles.
  18. In my opinion, Dozier has definitely put the "last year was a fluke" talk to rest. In saying that, I'm talking about worry during the offseason that Dozier's end of last year wasn't for real.
  19. Is it just me or has Plouffe taken a bunch of called 3rd strikes lately?
  20. Perfect RBI situation for Mauer. Dozier on 2B means a hit may score him. Mauer has one EBH in 16 games since his HR.
  21. forgot it was an afternoon game
