  1. Morrow looks like Pelfrey last year.
  2. Bremer thought that one was off the wall. Shocking.
  3. I think the reason may be that they didn't feel there was a good option at this time other than a pitcher. They did already call up Mastro and Herrmann. I'd have to think Parmelee might be next, but I'm not sure what he's done in AAA. - Edit - I guess I should have read the next post. SweetOne69 basically just said the same.
  4. Over-under for games at .500 OR above.
  5. The Twins have me on a roller coaster right now. After the first game against Cleveland they were at 1-3 and could easily have been 0-4. Then they won the next to to make it back to .500 for the second time (if you count 0-0). Then they stunk up the joint against Oakland to go 3-6 and follow that up with a sweep of KC to make it back to .500 once again. At this point, I would be quite happy if they could continue flirting with .500. I'm not saying I think that will happen, but if the pitchers can throw like they have the last three we might have a chance. So my question is, how many games do the Twins go into this year with a .500 record or better to start the day. At the start of the year I was starting to worry it might be 1. They are currently at 3 if you count opening day. I set the over-under at 12. What say you?
  6. By the way, Kubel is mashing. If only he could get more than a single on a ball that misses being a homer by about a foot.
  7. I haven't been able to watch much of the game, but as usual it seems the strike zone is very inconsistent. I've never been a proponent of electronic strike zone, but I may be changing my mind. I watched the inning where Pelfrey struggled on the edge of the zone, walked a few and got out with the score only 1-1. It seemed they were squeezing him. The next inning, the first two pitches to Kubel weren't as good as what Pelfrey threw and both were called strikes. I don't get it. I'd just like to see some consistency.
  8. I think we can all agree that baserunning isn't Plouffe's strong suit.
  9. Not at all. I do think he isn't getting the close calls he used to. That last at bat he was rung up on a pitch below the zone. Strike for Escobar, not Mauer. Any merit to the idea that catchers might get the benefit of a few strike calls just from being around the umps more? Plus he doesn't strike me as the type that would irritate the ump (like his predecessor).
  10. I have a hard time picking but Colabello is pushing to the front of the line. I hope I feel that way in July. Great story.
  11. And it might be another reason (other than his general lack of proficiency) why Escobar pinch hit for him.
  12. Interesting, I am doing them while I watch. The changes at the state level encouraged me to procrastinate.
  13. Agreed, I think he has shown that playing CF might not be in his tool kit.
  14. I'm going to be a contrarian, but I don't think Bartlett was that brutal. He made bad judgments, is clearly inexperienced, but at least he is going after balls. He just dove as many times as Hammer will all year. Hammer would not have gotten to either ball. With a little more experience, Bartlett catches the first one and the run doesn't score. With Willingham in LF, both those balls land for singles at least but Kipnis probably doesn't score. Don't get me wrong, I would still rather have him learning OF in AAA. Ok I said it, now bash away.
  15. Good call. Put Arcia on the DL. We know he isn't playing for at least a few days and if Willingham is day-to-day we can't afford to not have another OF.
  16. Pretty hard to not root for Colabello. With our OF's going down like flies, he probably DH's for the near future.
  17. Not that we didn't know this, but Willingham is really slow.
  18. That's what I was thinking. Gibson has thrown enough strikes but I would say he has been effectively wild. Too many pitches seem to get away from him. He hasn't had great command so I think he isn't getting the borderline calls.
  19. Easy to tell we aren't watching FSN North. Karros just said that as a 1B we always assumed that pitchers weren't very athletic. Bert would not agree.
  20. That play was all kinds of yuck.
  21. Not me, I was thinking off the wall.
  22. Agreed, error all the way. I'm sure Kubel will take the hit.
  23. If you were them, wouldn't you?
