  1. The answer you are looking for is the Twins! BUT the White Sox need help at third also--- so we'll have to wait.
  2. FYI Liriano pitched a four-strikeout inning in the fourth inning of the Twins' game against the Kansas City Royals on June 5, 2012.
  3. I suppose I should have read the second line!1 My bad. The Marlins tend to clean house every three or four years-- and then rebuild.
  4. did the Twins get Johnson and Buerhle?
  5. 9-7 will be tough. Prior to the start of the season I assumed they would not beat the Pack or the Bears this year. If they don't -- 8-8 is the best they can do. Last summer 8-8 would have been viewed as a big improvement-or a successful season!
  6. It's no surprise that you would "read" Baker not signing with the Twins as part of the narrative you continue to promote: that Twins are awful. No one's surprised or impressed with your "reading." Baker probably went after the money. If he was concerned about winning, he'd have signed somewhere other than with the Cubs. Obviously. You never know---Maybe the Cubs will rise from the dust! I think Cuddyer wanted to win and left the Twins to do that. Look how well that worked out for him! It's almost always about the money.
  7. [h=1]Governor Dayton Threatens to Nix Vikings Stadium[/h]http://wac.450f.edgecastcdn.net/80450F/wjon.com/files/2011/08/jay_caldwell_200x200.jpg?w=40&h=40&zc=1&s=0&a=t&q=89By Jay Caldwell 5 hours ago The Vikings stadium could be in some trouble. According to Mike Florio of Profootballtalk.com Governor Mark Dayton isn’t happy with the Vikings to 2 reasons. One is the Vikings willingness to play home games in London while the Stadium is being constructed and two because the Vikings are planning to raise their portion of the team’s contribution toward the stadium by raising season-ticket costs with seat lisencing fees. Dayton said “The project’s strong support came from many regular Minnesotans, not just rich Minnesotans, because they believed the Vikings are also their team. If a new stadium were to betray that trust, it would be better that it not be built.” The Vikings were off the radar of Los Angeles as far as team’s that could move there but would be right back on the radar if something can’t be figured out.
  8. Are you sure you're not living in the past??
  9. I know he is 35-- but does anyone else think the Twins should inquire about Brandon Inge? He could be offer a veteran presence, spell Plouffe now and then and could be a third catcher that has some pop. I bet $2MM with incentives would get him. We saved all the money we were going to give to Lexi:) We may have enough veteran presence.
  10. " but if everyone was chasing a ring, the only team everyone would sign with is the Yankees." The perception is there a maybe a half dozen teams with no or little chance of competing for a playoff spot. Right now the Twins are one of those. So if a player wants a perceived chance for a ring--- they would not consider the Twins, regardless of the team atmosphrere, the stadium, the manager etc. So--- to get players to consider coming here, the Twins need to try to improve their odds --and what's left to do is to offer more money.
  11. I think he looks a lot better than Jeff Gray
  12. I know Houston is moving to the AL-- I wasn't aware that Baltimore was moving to the NL
  13. Orioles MI is now our 2010 infield with Hardy/Casilla.
  14. Doesn't Deduno have some health issues? Eyesight issues or dizziness or something? Maybe TR and company didn't like what they saw.
  15. The following was posted on MLBTraderumors---- I hope it is okay to post here. Matt Capps is considered an option??? " So who closes for the Cubs now? James Russell? free agent i say they will go after Matt capps"
  16. dang-- the Twins missed out.
  17. The Ron Davis of this century! QUOTE=The Greatest Poster Alive;59705]I hope Matt Capps is a Twin for life. The hate he inspires from Twins fans is too damn entertaining to lose...
  18. Because he is a Yankee. He may be one of the least annoying of the Yankees-- but he is still a Yankee. Any other team-- it would be a different story. On another note-- I am just loving watching A-Rod struggle:)
  19. True-- but the Orioles dine at gormet dumpsters!
  20. quoting StormJH1 "You're not realistically getting anything BETTER than you got out of Mauer/Morneau/Willingham in 2013. It's very possible you'll get something worse." I agree with you on this and it makes me nervous. All three have had a history of injuries and in 2012 all three were relatively healthy. I think we may be playing on borrowed time. Even though Justin Morneau is one of my all time favorite Twins, and I loved what Josh Willingham brought to the team--- I think you trade them now while their value is high. They are both on the wrong side of 30 and both have spent a lot of time on the DL during their careers. Both could fill the coffers with prospects and MLB ready players. The Twins may have to eat some of Justin's salary. I would do it now before they get hurt in April or May and then we're stuck. I doubt Joe Mauer could ever get traded unless his contract is re-negotiated ---and why would he do that!
  21. Brad Berreman over at Rant Sports suggests the Twins could get Jair Jurrjens from Atlanta for Benson. If that's the case I would jump on it. Jurrjens is worth a gamble and the Twins have many outfielders in the minor leagues that have passed Joe Benson on the prospect chart. Although Jurrjens may be a non tender candidate then a trade wouldn't be necessary.
  22. I understand your thinking-- not really in favor of it. Dumpster diving has never proven that successful. I agree with others that say you can add Pavano, Baker and Liriano to this list. We could always try Livan Hernandez, Ramon Ortiz and/or Sidney Ponson again. Not sure we will like the results regardless.
  23. do you suppose he had this in place prior to asking the Twins to release him?
  24. thrylos98-- the chances of your prediction occurring is far greater than Pohlad thanking the trio and saying it's time to move in another direction and giving them pink slips! Even to one.
