  1. Post of the game. Which reminds of something I never mentioned during the KC series. Does Alex Gordon look in the mirror and say - yep, this is the beard look I am going for?
  2. On July 9, I asked: Wouldn’t we settle for 6 or 7 under 500, and about 7 back heading into the All Star Break?
  3. Mauer and Dozier both hitting .370 over their past 7 games, team has gone 6-1.
  4. Exactly. Rosario, Berrios, Romero, Buxton, Sano, Kepler, Polanco is a great core group of young players. And yes, I include Sano and Buxton in that group. I think this is a less heralded move by the Falvey Levine FO. It’s kind of unheard of to demote these young guys, especially to High A for Sano. But it seems like they are taking a measured, long-term approach with these two, and I think it is going to pay off. I think they are going to be back up soon, and will be contributing to the team this year and for a long time to come. Love the approach.
  5. I take it back. I wouldn’t trade Kiriloff and Brusdar for Realmuto.
  6. By the way, Buxton catches that Ramos double in his sleep.
  7. I think the premise of the article is correct; the Twins would benefit from a great catcher who can hit and play good D. Not to go down the Mauer rabbit hole again (but I can’t resist—I’d be all for resigning him), but the Twins were very strong as a team when Mauer was at his peak. It was a huge advantage to have your best hitter behind the plate. The difference between Mauer and the rest of the catchers in terms of production was massive. Massive enough that they could get away with carrying mediocre DHs...but I digress. As for solving the problem, Realmuto is clearly a very attractive option. But it would really hurt to get him. Probably Lewis, which I would be opposed to. Kiriloff and Romero would be a strong offer, I think, but painful. I would think hard about that. Kiriloff and Graterol I would do, even though it would hurt. The other option is to trade for Wilson Ramos, and hope Castro is back next year. Kind of seems like this weekend might be an audition.
  8. Just imagine if Gibson had started the Wild Card game in NY last year.
  9. Kyle was dealing. What a performance. He was cool as a cucumber, putting the ball right where he wanted it. And he got squeezed on several pitches by the home plate umpire. He could have easily gotten the complete game if he gets all of the strike calls he should have.
  10. I think it is unlikely that the Twins will catch and pass the Indians. But I also don’t think this is a bad team. The pitching is way better, with way more upside than the Twins have had in years. The offense has sputtered, yet there are many reasons to believe they will get better going forward. The Twins have 10 games left against the Indians, which is fine...but more importantly, 13 against KC, and many more against Chicago and Detroit. They’ve lost a lot of one-run games, more than their share. They are very young, and have a lot of upside. They seem to be getting hot—yes, off of bottom feeders, but wins are wins. And Cleveland doesn’t seem invincible. I said let it ride, and if they catch Cleveland, or if they don’t, it will be worth the ride. I’m more optimistic about the direction of this team than I have been in years.
  11. I disagree with this entire post, in particular the last sentence.
  12. I love that it’s happening and all, but can I question your counting skills?
  13. Wouldn’t we settle for 6 or 7 under 500, and about 7 back heading into the All Star Break?
  14. If he comes up with two outs, he guarantees the Twins have the top of the order up in the fifth?
  15. Bremer says that the play by Escobar was a game changer, but couldn’t we make the argument that the shoulder high strike three call with no one out and runners on second and third was the biggest play of the game thus far?
  16. As I watched that ground ball to Escobar, did I see it actually past him?
  17. I realize that the Twins are down 1-0, and Duffy has struck out 7 through three, but am I crazy to like Berrios and the Twins for this game?
