  1. What if I told you the Minnesota Timberwolves had the chance to draft Steph Curry, but instead took a 6'0 guard named Jonny Flynn who wasn't a great shooter, wasn't an elite athlete, wasn't a great passer, and wasn't a great scorer, even though every Timberwolves fan wanted Curry even at the time. At least that debacle has helped to set up the current core though.
  2. I had the same reaction as Seth when I saw what Lawrie's return was. I have moved on to being in favor of staying where they are with the current plan and seeing how Sano looks in the outfield. Now on the Lawrie trade, what is the upside for the A's trading him right now? Because if it's to open up playing time for Jed Lowrie, then I really question the move.
  3. The Rangers have a surplus of relievers and may be looking for starters. Jake Diekman would be an interesting target.
  4. According to mlbtr, the Marlins are wanting all three of Urias, Seager, and Pederson from the Dodgers. I guess you have to ask for more than you could get, but even two of those guys seems unrealistic.
  5. Totally agree. That seems like a huge overpay, but at least they're going for it. We saw how well that going all in strategy worked out for the Padres last year...
  6. Yes, to the Yankees to play 2B.
  7. I don't think I would make that trade. You might be right about Berrios being a bit overvalued due to us fans starving for someone to become a true ace, which is something that I'm guilty of. There's definitely the possibility that it could happen though.
  8. Possibly, but I think I think the positional value and speed of Correa makes their potential future value about even.
  9. What is with so many people being so low (relatively speaking) on Buxton? A bunch of fluke injuries and a struggle in his first taste of the MLB shouldn't change your opinions this much. There's a reason he was a consensus preseason top-3 prospect- and should be consensus #1 this year still.
  10. I agree, I think the only player that Houston would trade Carlos Correa for is Mike Trout.
  11. Yeah that's true. I just usually think of the smaller market teams relying on bullpens made up mostly of guys making the minimum and then trading them once they get too expensive.
  12. I'm a Big Ten fan and will probably root for MSU, but Connor Cook seems like a total "you-know-what" and that Archie Griffin trophy snub was pretty bad. Also, how in the world did he even get the mvp. He was terrible. LJ Scott or Shalique Calhoun probably should've gotten it.
  13. Ryan Madson to the A's for 3 years and $22M. I would think the A's could use $7M a year better than on a 35 year old setup man.
  14. I always thought he was more in the 92-96 range.
  15. Wisconsin has lost three games: to Alabama, Iowa, and Northwestern. Northwestern is 10-2, ranked #14, and allowed 6 points to a Stanford team that everyone loves. Oklahoma beat what ended up being a garbage Big 12 by the end of the season this year.
  16. Northwestern and Wisconsin on the road, Pitt. Never slipped up against a garbage team unlike your beloved Oklahoma. I meant crushing as in slowly and methodically taking the life out of you on that final drive. Iowa had many breaks not go there way, and they were still in a great position to win the game. Great season by those guys.
  17. Has your opinion changed about Iowa now? They're a very good team. That's just a crushing way to lose.
  18. Jeff Samardzija to the Giants for $90M over five years. So that's what a 30 year old pitcher with a career 4.09 ERA, mostly in the NL, and coming off a 4.96 ERA is worth? I actually do understand the move though. He's got some upside still, and he should greatly benefit by playing in AT&T, and the Giants really need someone to go with Mad Bum.
  19. Iowa hasn't trailed in a game since the second quarter against Illinois 7 games ago. They have had a good schedule, but they've handled their opponents for the most part.
  20. Zack Greinke to the Diamondbacks. Wow, I did not see that coming. What are the Dodgers going to do now?
  21. The west has two teams in the top 15, and a team at the bottom of the standings beat Michigan State. That's not too bad.
  22. He wasn't in the midseason top 50 or honorable mention. I'd be really surprised if he makes the top 100 this year.
  23. He sure took his sweet time moving him up though.
  24. Just looking back at the pre-season list, he had Berrios at 97 and said "He has the ceiling of a third or fourth MLB starter if he keeps missing bats and can tighten up both off-speed pitches." At least he's come around on that a little.
  25. Pre-season he had Stewart at 53, saying he could run his fastball up to 97 with his slider being his best swing and miss pitch, four potential plus pitches, but that he needed to work on getting more command instead of control. I wonder what he would say now.
