  1. I know you're just joking, but Sandoval and Fielder pack their 275 lbs onto 5'11" frames.
  2. Why? Their 8th inning guy, who was lights out last year, has given up runs in a couple of close games. I don't think Molitor is to be blamed for that. If you're talking about not using May two innings at a time so he can pitch back to back games, then I understand that, but it would have been Jepsen in the 8th even if May was available last night anyway. I think it may be best to eventually give Trevor May the 8th inning, but right now I think bullpen usage has been fine.
  3. Jermaine Palacios bats 9th in the Kernels order? Not really a big deal or anything, just not what I expected.
  4. I don't think having May pitch the 6th/7th innings a couple times in close games makes him the long man. If the Twins have a lead (and if he didn't throw 2 innings the night before...) I'm pretty sure he's the 7th inning guy.
  5. Both are second tier setup guys, and right now, I'd be ok with either pitching in crunch time. By the way, I think you can cut down your condescending posts a little.
  6. Clippard might be better than Jepsen, but the difference isn't all that great in my opinion. Bastardo is pretty inconsistent year to year. He could be really good this year, or maybe Fernando Abad out-pitches him. Who knows?
  7. Um...not really. Clippard has a career 3.72 FIP compared to Jepsen's 3.24. Clippard has a better career ERA, but I wouldn't expect Clippard to be a "huge" upgrade over Jepsen.
  8. When your team has scored 2, 2, 2, and 3 runs in their first four games against mediocre pitcing, with 500 strikeouts, whining about the bullpen should be low on the list.
  9. I would have been happy with an upgrade, but having the best set of relief prospects of any team is a big factor in making this a defensible move. May, Jepsen, and Perkins isn't a horrible back end. It's mediocre, but not a glaring need.
  10. Jepsen has been bad...in 2 games, but the offense has cost this team games. 2 and 3 runs isn't going to get it done, especially when factoring in the mediocre pitching that the Twins have faced so far. And who are those 2 relief pitchers that you would want? O'Day would be an upgrade, but for $35M? Tyler Clippard isn't much of an upgrade over Jepsen. Chapman? Or mediocre guys like Bastardo or Sipp on multi year deals?
  11. I don't really mind TR taking his chances with Jepsen and Co. and wait for the bullpen cavalry to come than to spend $35M on Darren O'Day or trade for Chapman and his baggage. I wouldn't have complained if they made a move like that, but I think the strategy of doing nothing in this area is defensible.
  12. The Dexter Fowler re-signing looks really good for them now. They still have three above average outfielders, plus Javier Baez could play in the OF when he comes back too. They'll definitely still score a ton. With the Cubs' depth, does this really affect their WS odds that much?
  13. Kyle Schwarber has a torn ACL from his outfield collision yesterday. That's one of the worries when you have guys who aren't natural outfielders playing out there.
  14. I'd be in favor of Escobar hitting first or second. I think Buxton, Escobar, Mauer would look pretty good.
  15. The Twins only have one player who isn't currently cold...so sure why not?
  16. Did anyone know who Reymond Fuentes was before this season?
  17. That was pretty fun even though I didn't do too well. I got 145. Vance Worley and Ricky Nolasco (I forgot about Nolasco) started opening day 2013 and 2014... I guess that's how 90+ loss seasons are made.
  18. I actually agree with this after thinking about it a bit more. Hitting 5 or 6 in the order seems better, especially if he can't get on base more often out of the leadoff spot.
  19. I didn't think this team was going to have any problem scoring runs. Hopefully the obp and strikeouts don't become too big of a problem as the season really gets going.
  20. If this awful hitting continues, Buxton should bat leadoff, with Dozier 3rd. Maybe it's just Dozier's rough start, but I don't really like him leading off.
  21. Hopefully the adjustment works, but I'm beginning to wonder if Perk is ever going to get a chance to protect a lead this season...
  22. The Padres have opened the season with three games scoring ZERO runs, with a .120 batting average. Yikes.
  23. One run against Yovani Gallardo, who was throwing up high 80's garbage for 5 innings, so not very good. Byron Buxton and Trevor Plouffe were the highlights tonight.
  24. Yeah Gibson was terrible with his command. Sano's dive was a really bad play, but I though he was decent besides that. He had a couple nice running catches.
  25. I thought for sure Nunez or Santana was going to hit in the 9th. I don't understand the thinking there. Not sure it would have mattered, as Britton basically threw one hittable pitch the entire inning.
