  1. This, exactly, and also axe Cardinal Bar and hit Northbound Brewing instead (it's only a block away). I wish I could make this, but I'll be up North for a cousin's wedding. Have fun, guys and dolls!
  2. So glad you asked! Cletus the slack-jawed yokel! - YouTube
  3. The way the rotation moves Brett should be pitching on Friday. There's a 60% chance I'm heading down to that game, so if I do, and if he's pitching, I'll provide my impression here (for whatever it's worth). Thanks for all great info you're providing on Brett. I really wanted to see Berrios pitch, so was disappointed in how the rotation was unfolding. But reading your thread on Brett makes it much more compelling for me to check this guy out. While Buxton is of course the top attraction in Cedar Rapids, I'm always more interested in watching pitchers, so this is great info for me...
  4. There's a baked potato stand right on the main concourse for you.
  5. Nice! There's a Michael Jackson joke with a similar set up to that...
  6. I watched the replay of his HR swing tonight. Man, is that a beautiful sight. Perfect form. Looked completely effortless for him to park that ball. Wow!
  7. Ouch. I can't back this up, but it sure feels like we've gone from giving up very few homers to giving up waaaayyy too many over the course of 7-8 games. Damn.
  8. Pretty sure mikeee means "chink" as in "chink in the fence," etc... Chink - Definition and More from the Free Merriam-Webster Dictionary Heck, even Shakespeare is famous for using it... SCENE I. Athens. The palace of THESEUS.
  9. Anyone know a good non-mlb.com streaming station for the game? Almost impossible to tune in a radio at my work...
  10. I've got a buddy who lives in St. Paul, not more than 2 mi. from the Mississippi River on St. Clair, and he can't tune 96.3 in from inside his house. Car can pick it up in the garage and driving in the neighborhood, but ixnay in the ousehay. I live on the opposite side of the river from him, probably not quite 3 miles as a crow flies, and I have no problem tuning it in in my house. Weird.
  11. New York Times article makes it appear quite likely that he's finished. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/03/29/sports/baseball/mets-johan-santana-probably-out-for-the-season.html
  12. Not picking up Baker, with hindsight, was a good decision. And I agree, at the price Chicago signed him for, it was not worth the risk, so *perhaps* also a good decision in foresight, too. I won't even begin to argue on Correia's behalf, but please, please, please let me eat those words!
  13. Sorry if this is posted elsewhere. Not great news: Twins pitcher Anthony Swarzak to miss a month after fracturing ribs | twinsbaseball.com: News "When he was up here for TwinsFest, he was messing around with a couple guys and cracked a couple ribs, so he'll be out a month," Ryan said. "He was wrestling around. It was some horseplay. He was out with a couple friends and the team and cracked a couple ribs fooling around. It wasn't a fight or anything. It was just bad judgment wrestling around." bruised a rib or two last Spring, and it was a problem for a good 3-4 months. Hope he can recover quickly!
  14. I used to love reading Howard's articles and analysis. Not so much anymore. It's one thing to be unhappy about the state of the team. It's quite another to be bitter about it and draw a salary for putting that bitterness into print. One need not expect unicorns and rainbows in order to write thorough and personalized-yet-objective analysis about the strengths and opportunities of the ballclub, which is what the TwinsDaily chief writers demonstrate day in and day out. (And it's why this site is my go-to for information about the team - I've given up almost completely on the Strib).
  15. Mid-high level crapping has commenced! Not that excited about Worley in particular, but incredibly excited that we were able to get that kind of value in exchange for Revere. Well played, TR. Well played.
  16. mlbtr reporting it's Worley! http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/12/phillies-acquire-ben-revere.html
  17. Hope this hasn't been said yet but I'm rushing. Sorry. Patience fits both sides of the coin in this story. Rizzo was likely reluctant to take Span mid way through the year when he was still a bit more of an unknown vis a vis his concussion recovery status. Denard made it through, as we know, with flying colors, so that question mark for Rizzo goes away. If that's the case, that's good work by both GMs.
  18. Well done, Seth. For us fans, this is the bittersweet part of the business. Here's to both Span and Meyer excelling with their new teams.
  19. Also available as of today, Jesse Litsch (Blue Jays), who profiles as a Twin from a cost/past-performance perspective: http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/l/litscje01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&utm_source=direct&utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.
  20. Absolutely terrible call, but that's no excuse for the fans' reaction.
  21. Oh, that's just awful, awful news.
