  1. He posted an ERA of 6 this year going into the series, so I'd say it's fair to say he hasn't exactly been a control-artist this year. With that said, I do agree and think it was intentional now, especially in light of the play he blew just before. I hope somebody catches one in the ribs before this is all done.
  2. I'm starting to think it was intentional. Maybe this is irrelevant but the Texas announcers mentioned Mauer is something like a career 9 for 11 off of Oswalt
  3. Yeah I'd be surprised if not tonight but over the weekend Hamilton doesn't end up taking one in the ribs
  4. Even if this was the NL wouldn't they still be going after Hamilton? I mean why put an auto out on first base? I don't watch enough NL baseball to know so please let me know if my assumptions are way off. I personally didn't think Mauer getting hit was intentional, but the Twins had to do something. Pitchers really don't get thrown at as part of the "unspoken rules" I believe nowadays. In the NL if the exact same thing happened I don't think we'd still be throwing at Hamilton after 1 miss because Mauer's getting hit wasn't too egregious.
  5. iPhone app works well for audio, not bad for video (if signal strength is decent). Ah, if only I had an iPhone... appreciate it though
  6. Oswalt lost command on a 3-0 pitch and it hit Mauer in the upper back. It wasnt a direct plunk, more of a glancing blow really. Neither dugout was warned I believe, but then Diamond gets tossed. Ridiculous
  7. Was either dugout warned even prior??? That is such bs, let em play
  8. Florimon to the rescue, great catch
  9. Gave Andrus waaayy too much to hit in an 0-2 count
  10. Yeah I always watch the free game of the day on mlb.com and the quality is fantastic, if I weren't a broke college kid I would pony up the cash
  11. Does anyone here have any good sites for streaming games? I don't have mlb.tv and am habitually frustrated by not being able to watch the Twins
  12. Our best chance by far comes in game 1
  13. Great news, couldn't be happier for the guy
  14. Yeah, you're right. Far be it from me to suggest that an All-Star and current league leader in RBIs is having a worse year than last, during which he only played in 44 games. Maybe the Twins would be better off running out star players once every 4 games. I guess Buster Posey had a better year last year too. Extrapolate his stats- how was he better last year? I'll take a guy who bats around .280 and produces prolific runs all year over a guy who plays 1/4 of the year. He came back from injury and has contributed greatly to his team's success. QED Carlos Beltran played in 142 games last season and posted an OPS+ of 154, a career high. Ah, my apologies- I misread his BR page and interpreted his time with the Giants as his entire year- forgive my stupidity while I go run some laps outside. For some reason I had it in my head he missed significant time last year with injury

  16. ...no. I'll just leave this here http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/b/beltrca01.shtml
  17. MVP: McCutchen Cy Young: Cueto Rookie of the Year: Frazier Manager of the Year: Davey Johnson Comeback: Beltran
  18. Lighten up a bit- it's supposed to be against the Royals and would be an interesting change of pace. This is safer than 10-cent beer night and embodies the original spirit with which barnstorming teams played the game. '
  19. Not sure Big Ben belongs in Group B- I'd put him a notch below. Say what you want about the Steelers' O-Line, every time I turn around I swear Ben is getting sacked. His lack of mobility and his knack for racking up minor injuries. I'll any of the other guys over him. And what about Vick? His health is a big IF, but all things being equal, I think he is as good as most of the QBs listed above.
  20. I can't fathom anyone giving up anything for Blackburn. I personally would be more in favor of taking him off the field and letting him come out between innings to throw souvenir shirts to fans rather than his customary room service fastballs.
  21. What you try to do with your AB is your approach; good hitters still adjust their approach with 2 strikes. This is merely semantics, though. I do agree with you on Mauer in this situation, but by all means please continue pontificating for your phantom dissenters.
  22. MVP: Cabrera Cy Young: Price Rookie of the Year: Trout Manager of the Year: Showalter Comeback Player: Big Donkey
  23. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/Tommy-John-surgery-Dr-Frank-Jobe-changed-baseball-gave-new-life-to-pitchers-022012 This article lists the percent of active big leaguers with TJ at 11 percent. I'd expect the number to dip slightly from 11% over the past 10 years, but I'd wager it's over 5%. God bless surgeons
