  1. The Canadian's dropped a bunt for a base hit, the 3B was left holding his jock, and then, after fielding the ball, the 3B looked at the pitcher, pointed at his ribs, then pointed at Tosoni. Tosoni was thrown at three times, finally got hit and he still was just yapping at the pitcher as the catcher kind of started walking him down to 1B. Then the catcher shoved him and it was on!
  2. Looks like I've been dismissed...oh well.
  3. maybe the part where you praised how much they spent on the ballpark?
  4. No it isn't...it's what you did in this argument...exactly what you did. You praised the Pohlads as great owners, failed to mention them offering the team up for contraction...failed to mention their constant threats for the team to be sold and moved. Why is that, exactly? You praised their spending on this last draft, more than 10% more than the next team, but fail to mention they had the most to spend, allotment -wise, to begin with...about 10% more than the team with the 2nd most to spend. Talk about lack of full disclosure. You want me to include the Pohlad's full body of work, you first...and understand that offering up the team for contraction and almost ensuring the moving of our team is HUGE.
  5. Cause he can't win that argument. Just like he says I have no facts but hasn't even addressed any points that I wrote that he thinks aren't true.
  6. I was gonna say all he needs to do is pitch better :-)
  7. He wrote this: There aren't too many good things you can say about a man who made his fortune buying up risky mortgages during the Great Depression so he could immediately foreclose on the unfortunate families as soon as they were a minute late on a payment. ' What isn't true there?
  8. I have...which thing did I write in this discussion that wasn't a fact? -I said that the team was offered up for contraction by ownership. True. -I said the team was almost moved due to Carl's actions. True. -I said they didn't spend a huge amount for the new stadium (obviously as compared to other recently). True. -I mentioned their draft allotment was higher than anyone's. About 10% higher than the 2nd highest draft allotment. True. Nice try with the whole 'spitting out a fact on occasion' comment...great debate tactic. Even better when it's true.
  9. not only that, earlier he threatened to move them...well, not move the team in as much as sell it to a guy who he knew would move the team to, I believe, N Carolina? 'Back in 1997, the Twins didn’t just threaten to leave, Carl Pohlad actually signed a letter of intent forcing them to be sold to a North Carolina businessman who planned to move the team. According to the legal agreement, the state’s only escape clause was to pass a stadium bill during the November 1997 legislative special session, and even then Carl Pohlad would have been required to reimburse the purchaser up to $100,000. ' Here's a good read: http://www.apple-pie.org/ttp/memos/debunking_the_misinformation_about_threats.htm Just the kind of owners to emulate...if you're an owner maybe...
  10. They had the highest allotment for the draft...1.2M more than the #2 team...about 10%.
  11. I get to hit up ST next year. It'll be the first time my brother and I have gone. Unfortunately, it won't be in Florida. We'll be going down to Arizona where his Angels and Dodgers play. Either way, it's baseball and it should be a blast!
  12. Their draft allotment was 12.3M. Do we know what they spent?
  13. It's exactly how it sounded...
  14. By one person...who is apparently a staunch defender of the Pohlads...what with them so spending SO much for a ballpark for their own team (not even the majority of the cost) and them threating to move the team (oh, wait, they NEVER would have done that, would they?) Offering up the team for contraction (oh wait, that must not have happened. Pohalds wouldn't do that) and them spending so much in the draft even though their allotment was the highest due to the amount of high picks they had...shocking they'd spend more than anyone else in that situation...shocking! :-). They are the model owners. Pay homage and don't put any owner above them...sounds like one of the Commandments :-)
  15. yeah, I was just pointing out what he was saying about Trout wasn't true...that's not why he didn't make the team out the gate in 2012. I think it's longer than a month they need to wait as well, but maybe you're right
  16. So, practically every post you've written is about an Australian player...and you've slammed people who aren't seeing your point of view on him, including the one quoted here. Three questions:: 1. Are you Australian? if not 2. Are you related to Hendricks? 3. Do you think people may not take YOU seriously when all you do is comment just on Australian players (minus the one about Cole De Vries...after you brought up Hendricks on the same thread). Think maybe they see some bias there because of it? For the record, I haven't given up on Liam, but people have a right to wonder about him since he hasn't shown much yet in the majors. Of course he's young, and that's fine...but people have their right to question his ability.
  17. I edited my post above to give you quotes :-)
  18. Bert tore him a new one on Twitter as being extremely negative after Reusse said the Vikings announcers are so homerish they'd fit right in on FSN. “@1500ESPN_Reusse Very interesting that a guy like you can consistently criticize others when you played what sport? You are Mr. Negative!” “@1500ESPN_Reusse For years you have been a writer that always looks for the negative. Keep up the good work because you are good at it!” “@1500ESPN_Reusse I believe weather baseball, football or whatever sport, fans want to hear positive. The ones that don’t, listen to YOU!”
  19. Strange thing is, Reusse has always been Mr. Negative. It's funny HE comes out complaining about fans' negativity.
  20. Some #1...not the endless money part because that's the extreme end which I don't think is a fair assessment of anyone. Most everyone I've talked to that have payroll concerns seems to have issues with them not living up to the promises given to the fans concerning payroll...especially when they gave the reasons why they needed the new park. No one I know of think payroll should be unlimited. Part of #2. I believe he can rebuild, I don't like the lies he told this offseason about this season. Then again, the lies weren't unexpected. #3 doesn't apply. I haven't been a Gardy fan since 2007...for all the same reasons I'm not a fan of his now. Nothing to do with the last two seasons. #4 definitely doesn't apply to me. and none of it makes me angry.
  21. I think you are missing the point. 1: The one poster said the decisions were made in October. 2: Old Nurse responded saying: 'Because spring training numbers as a whole are meaningless. A body of work pitching to the second string is meaningless. Too bad more fans do not understand that' 3: I responded saying: 'I think most fans DO understand that...but the FO and manager keep talking about ST battles...if the decisions are made prior to ST, then there are no ST battles. I'm guessing that was the point. ' So this was about roster decisions being made before ST. The original guy saying it was before ST, old nurse not disagreeing and saying ST stats are meaningless and he wishes more people knew that, and me saying I think most do understand that but we keep being told there are ST battles. Maybe your post should have been written to the poster saying decisions were made much earlier than spring training and that ST didn't affect decisions.
  22. I think most fans DO understand that...but the FO and manager keep talking about ST battles...if the decisions are made prior to ST, then there are no ST battles. I'm guessing that was the point.
  23. Super Two are for players who are arbitration eligible before three years of service. It doesn't affetc years of control but rather years of arbitration. Certain players with less than three years of service time can also become eligible for arbitration, if they meet the following criteria: ● If they have less than three years of service time, but more than two. ● If they rank within the top 22% of all 2-year players in terms of service time. So if a player finishes a season and is just shy of three years of service time (say, 2 years and 171 days) then MLB will award them Super Two status and they’ll be eligible for arbitration. Since these players are still under team control for another three seasons, that means Super Two players get four year of salary arbitration instead of the typical three. The Super Two cutoff used to stand at 17%, but got changed to 22% in the new CBA negotiations. This means that if a team wants to keep a player in the minors until after the Super Two cutoff, they will have to keep that player in the minors for even longer than before. Considering that the cutoff used to fall sometime in June — it varied from year to year, as the 17% cutoff isn’t tied to a specific date — it will likely end up being in July going forward. http://www.fangraphs.com/library/index.php/business/super-two/
