  1. Trout's rookie year was last year. He's free agent eligible in 2018. So last year and the upcoming 5. 6 years of control, just like most players.
  2. KC and Pitt have had the same advantage the Rays had...
  3. Benson only has one option year left...this year.
  4. Feb 22, Matt Garrioch, from MinorLeagueBall.com, listed Stanek #1. He has Appel 8th. http://www.minorleagueball.com/2013/2/22/4013450/2013-mlb-draft-top-100-draft-prospects
  5. Trout is eligible to be a free agent in 2018. So 2012 and 5 more seasons...So, six seasons, like normal.
  6. Dozier went to college...that'd explain the age thing
  7. He can't win with some fans...no matter what. That's just the way it is.
  8. A lot like Gomez was his first year with us...rocket arm, absolutely no idea where it would go.
  9. That says more about them than it does about anything else :-) I remember warning many, many fans to not expect that to be the norm...
  10. Trout can still be a free agent in 2018. Still only six seasons of control 2012-2017
  11. I phrased that wrong...I'm not sure if it affects service time if a guy is sent down to recover and get his timing or whatever after being on the DL.
  12. I don't think DL time is included
  13. Milwaukee sent Hardy down for the exact amount of time needed to gain another year of control. Then he got traded to us at the end of that season.
  14. Twins still dictate what they are willing to spend though, right? Based on a slew of factors, not all of which are on the field, no? He wasn't ON the open market yet. Fangraphs had Mauer's 2010 value at 21.9M for on the field. 22.5 last year.
  15. Nah, he signed his extension Mar 2010
  16. If I had to guess, and that's all it'd be, is he was probably feeling the pressure of constantly being told he needed to hit HRs and be the kind of hitter he really isn't and this was causing him to push. Or it could just be one of those things....you know...just turned out that way.
  17. I doubt the Twins were stupid enough to believe one year like 2009 in his career was gonna turn into his norm.
  18. yeah, he finally had more than 65Ks in a season. This one season is definitely showing a trend :-)
  19. Remember his really bad 2010? When he was a silver slugging, gold glove wearing all star with a 140 OPS as a catcher finishing 8th in MVP voting? :-) All those great seasons before, along with that one, would have dropped his price tag a good 3-4M a year...it being only his 3rd best season at the time and all :-)
  20. Nice article...good research...and it shows how great of a hitter he is..but, you're right of course, you had to know that the whole DP comment was coming right away...gotta pull the negative out first...those 4%-5% of PAs he hits into DPs is a really killer :-) None of the great hitters today hit into DPs...especially those that make a lot of contact :-)
  21. The Three Minorteers?
  22. We'll never know what he truly believes...
  23. Meaningful to the teams we're playing against that are in playoff contention...
  24. Who was discounting an age 31 season?
