  1. No need to aim high or set your goals too lofty...it's only been 21 seasons since the last W Series appearance...unreasonable to suggest the goal should be a W Series win in the next 10 seasons.
  2. I'm probably reading into things a bit, but Ryan, when talking about a few of his acquisitions (like, say, Correia), said he hadn't seen him but was relying on what his scouts and the stats said... Now you have Gardy saying: '"I'm making my own decisions," Gardenhire said. "I haven't seen these guys enough to sit there and read reports and have somebody tell me this or that. I want to see them. I need to see these guys. I want to make my own decisions."....' '...So I want to make my own decisions, rather than seeing a scouting report."' Probably nothing, but it sure sounds like he's taking a swipe at the Cue Ball Wizard... http://minnesota.twins.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130219&content_id=41792872&notebook_id=41792882&vkey=notebook_min&c_id=min
  3. Nice job Seth. There are some things I disagree with...for example I don't think Mauer will have a career high in strikeouts...but overall, it was pretty nice to see you put it all out there. I'd give it a 'like' but that feature seems to be missing...at least in my view.
  4. I see what you did there :-)
  5. The 137 one was...not the 59 innings one :-)
  6. can't explain away only 59 IP :-)
  7. 'Second, Marquis doesn't have an injury-pocked past.' Marquis only pitched 132 innings in 2011 and only 59 innings in 2010. Was there something other than injury keeping him from pitching more?
  8. '"I don't think there's any question the Tigers will be favored on paper," Twins general manager Terry Ryan said. "But the Royals have done quite a bit, the Indians have done quite a bit, the White Sox were competitive for about five and a half months last year. This division has improved, and there's a lot of optimism in a few towns here, I know that." Notice the team Ryan DIDN'T mention? http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130219&content_id=41779112&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb
  9. what happened to the 'like' option on this site?
  10. Butera has never started a game at the MLB level in which he was batting in the 3 hole...
  11. I think Benson is in the discussion because, as of now, only Maestro can play CF. Either Hicks or Benson is going to have to make the team. We aren't going into the season with only one guy able to play CF.
  12. 'That's what we say here. You have to earn it.' Really?
  13. We had, what, 18 or 19 different lineups in the first 20 games last year...and people were fairly healthy at that point. Wasn't out of necessity...wasn't because people were tired and needed a rest...
  14. Not me...if given one spot to stay at to play regularly, I think he'll be a good MLB player. Problem is, what are the odds that happens under Gardy?
  15. I've always understood the common thought process concerning trading for prospects, especially pitching ones. My point is, it's a complete guess. I personally liked the trades myself, but I'm also keenly aware they could end up busts.
  16. So, give them a grade of B for the future based on something other than the results of the players they got for the future? If they end up dogs, still give them a B?
  17. After Ryan made his speech during the Season Ticket holder conference, about how he promised to do everything possible to seriously improve the pitching staff and that money was no object, how much of a dropoff in season ticket holders will we see NEXT year after seeing what he actually did?
  18. Hunter and Santana said the Twins are always playing for the future, never going for it in the now...and if that's the case, why should they stay? Not sure if Morny feels the same way but I wouldn't be surprised if, now, he does.
  19. If we assume Worley. May and Meyer all work out, absolutely.
  20. Twins had the 3rd largest drop in attendance last year. Only Houston and Cleveland saw a bigger drop-off http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/attendance-winners-and-losers/
