  1. Yes, he did have a decent start last night. When I asked one of the coaches why the starter only went 3 innings he said sometimes they schedule the starter for 3, sometimes 4, and then the second guy the 4 and the 3. Wimmers was the 4 inning guy last night. He looked very good thru the first 3, and then just couldn't get the 3rd out in the 4th inning. The closer pitched a beautiful at bat. Two 94 mph fastballs that the batter was late on, and then an 81 mph curve that locked up the batter and the game. I was thinking after two strikes, he's late on it, throw another or toss the curve. The curve to perfection.
  2. Woke up in time for the 9th.
  3. At this rate Phil won't even have time to wipe!
  4. Nice afternoon for a nap.
  5. Things to think about. 6. I was thinking about putting up a poll as to when each of the starters in the rotation would have at least one win. But me putting up a poll and getting a wins have about the same odds.
  6. A triple header for me today! Twins and then 2 Miracle games, whoo hoo!
  7. I won't have the time to do this, but Corey Wimberly would be a good one for someone to follow.
  8. Dan Turpin pitched 3 very strong innings this morning against a real good Orioles team. I don't believe he allowed a hit, and the good guys were up 2-0. Sano is back. It's pouring rain now so the Miracle game could be washed, as it's supposed to rain all day.
  9. Good to know, it's impossible to judge any outs on Gameday.
  10. And 2 k's with Hicks looking in from 3rd.
  11. Be nice to get Kazmir an ERA.
  12. I sat and watched them film that, and Mauer and Dozier, for a good hour and a half. It was hot, and I don't know how TC lived thru it. TC and Herbie were in the sun most all the time, while Joe and Brian were shaded. They must have had 50 retakes. It was funny.
  13. Temp around 55! That's getting tempting. But 225 miles north of there things could be much different. 4 feet on the level in my yard 3 days ago leaves me thinking the asphalt highway can wait awhile. Game day will have to do for the Twins game. Let's see over .500 once.
  14. If needed, I'll take credit for the decision. I didn't like getting him last year and certainly didn't want him around this season. His spring made it a very easy decision. Mastro's better than he is. With 2 spots empty on the roster I think they had something in mind but it just didn't get done. But the 2 spots remain, so it ain't ova til it's ova.
  15. Pinch run for Hammer while he's on the bench.
  16. It's way to early to see any trends with the bullpen as some of the arms are struggling, and the weather has been cold. However, if I were running this organization a couple of things I'd of been leary of coming into spring training would have been at the forefront. First, I'd never swallowed Perkins sales pitch for an extension. There was no need for it, and that will come back to bite us in the end. Secondly, I'd have been concerned with Burton. Last year wasn't so good. He seems to be either on, or way off. As the setup man, that's not a good situation. A week in and it looks to be the same. If it continues, Tonkin should get a chance to show what he can do in that spot. Burton's long leash is growing shorter in my book.
  17. I really thought it would be Mastro, but Herrmann is fine too.
  18. Have a drink for Burton, and a couple for Perkins.
  19. Didn't Swarzak want high leverage situations?
  20. Sacks loaded and one out and we get zip. We saw that to many time last year. Hope 5's enough today.
  21. And over 8,000 in attendance for the home opener. Which is free, btw.
