  1. i would rather pick up a lawn mower on the side of the road with no blades.
  2. no no no no no no no no no no no no no no for the love of god NO!
  3. hmmmm maybe consider it, but Twins will NEVER trade Mauer
  4. sorry:(
  5. And Span's trade value may have gone up with this contract. Upton is the better player, but not by much, and even Span's team option of $9 million in 2015 looks like a bargain. The next two seasons at just under $12 million combined look like a steal, even allowing for the health issues. LaBombo....I would love if you are right!
  6. 5 years 75 million dollar contract according to ESPN
  7. Why the hell is this a topic. It doesnt even have anything to do with the Twins.
  8. Love the Thrylos reference. But with all do respect i hope the Liriano part of your prediction is DEAD WRONG!
  9. There is plenty of other places to look to trade Span, i dont believe the Braves were ever to interested in him, they probably kicked the tires on it. Little birdies I have heard say that the Twins are asking WAYYYY to much for Span. Maybe the Braves are interested in Willingham, but I dont think a trade with Braves is going to happen anymore if they do sign Upton.
  10. I know that wasnt saying much. But if he can hold it down like Koskie did it gives us one less infield position to worry about you know? By all means we have nothing to lose by letting Plouffe play 3rd all year. If he sucks this year then you just go on to find the next guy.
  11. Ditto. It sounds like some of you are content with another 90+ loss season. Finally someone who agrees. I dont get why this thread is still going! Whoever wants Liriano is crazy.
  12. That was funny :-) In truth, I'm a fan of every player who wears the Twins jersey, and I root for Plouffe just like I root for Span or Morny, but I do my best not to exaggerate a player's abilities. Plouffe is a former first rounder who only made the roster last year because he was out of options and we didn't have anyone better to slot in there (sorry Hughes fans). He's not anywhere near a good fielder at any position (yet), and he's already in his prime. Gardy hasn't done Plouffe any favors either by having him play, 'guess your position'.... Thanks Puck i was trying to get your thoughts on Plouffe. Just like you I am a fan of everyone who suits up in a twins uniform. Last year was not Plouffe's first time playing the big leagues, the year before he played a few games as well. Yes he is a former first rounder who took some time to develop, just like Parmelee but he had great numbers under Bruno at AAA. I think Bruno will be able to tap into both Plouffe's and Parmelee's potential at the big league level. Your definitely right Gardy has not done him any favors playing musical chairs with Plouffe's positions but give him some time, I think he can be the best 3rd baseman we have had since Corey Coskie.
  13. Exactly we have other priorities. Right now we dont need to worry about 3rd base, that job is Plouffe's to lose and he has no one creeping over his shoulder ready to take the job. Sure we should sign a back up 3rd baseman, but we should not give Plouffe competition it would likely only mess with his and and force him to press. We need pitchers and middle infield. Im excited here with the winter meeting coming up.
  14. Does the fact that he can't play any position at even an average level factor in? Just because Gardy decides to move him all over the place, doesn't mean he can actually play all those positions. And what teams are you talking about dying to make him their 3B if they had the chance. I mean, yeah, you can say that...but based on what? All those rumored traded offers for him? His great defense? His one month of great hitting? The fact he took forever to make the show and keeps getting bounced around cause he can't field well at any of them? I mean, what makes you think that? Im going to go out on a limb here and say....youre not a Plouffe fan?
  15. The last time we had three highly stated ST competitions, the guy who did better in ST ended up losing. Span vs Gomez for CF (Gomez won), Harris versus Punto for 3B (Punto won), Slowey versus the 5 starters who made the rotation. (Slowey got sent to the bullpen). Yeah, remember that last one, where they said we have a surplus of quality starting pitching so we'll have a battle to see who the top 5 are...a surplus of pitching...yeah right Thats when every team was beating on the Twins door for a quality pitcher...we just hand an abundance of good pitchers
  16. Everyone who says we should get Jack Hannahan is just like SHOOTER from the pioneerpress....WORTHLESS!
  17. Definitely. See if he can hit the upper 80's on his fastball. 1 year 850k contract at the most. +1. We have to do some serious risk management here. If he's back, let him prove it spring training. If he wants serious guaranteed money, I'll pass. It isn't personal. The Twins simply have no more room for error. Thats what im saying. He would have to prove in spring training on a low salary contract that he can get his arm strength close to where it should be. Not an 85 mph fastball, thats a RH Jamie Moyer. I think Pavano shoulds just go and fade away into oblivion with all his millions and gorgeous wife.
  18. I like your thinking, I agree.
  19. I hope the Twins decide on the Medlen route for Gibson rather than the Stasburg route. I would rather he starts in the pen and bring him along slowly to limit his innings. I think they should do the Medlen way as well. But will either on matter? Because the Twins likely arent going to be in the playoff race next year,
  20. I have faith in Hendriks to be a solid major league starter. He got his feet wet last year. I think he will adjust and do find this year. My prediction if he does make the rotation 11-8 with a 4.05 ERA.
  21. I love Plouffe and I love his bat....but his fielding is quite bad. I wouldnt mind moving him to 2nd, anything is better than we have now. We not only need pitching we need a great 3rd baseman. I wish we would go after a guy like David Wright who can hold down that position for a long time to come, but we wont. So since we are going to do that might as well leave Plouffe at 3rd.Move him to the OF? We have a log jam there. Not going to happen.
