  1. I wish we could bring back all the Pirahnas....
  2. Im with you i dont think its a terrible idea, but I think we would need a better placeholder than Mastroianni. If he can get a decent PITCHING prospect back we should pull the trigger. Although i was getting excited to see Ben play CF this year.
  3. If we can get a solid minor league pitcher I dont mind this at all. Leave it up to an open competition next year between Hicks/Benson or someone else. 2013 seems like a lost cause...total rebuilding year.
  4. Jon Paul Morosi of Fox Sports reports Revere's name has popped up as a possible trade candidate. What could the Twins realistically get for Revere?
  5. The Rays have acquired a new shortstop, getting Yunel Escobar from the Marlins for middle infield prospect Derek Dietrech
  6. Thanks for the reminder. And Exactly.
  7. The big name Pitchers (most of them) will not sign until Peavy gets his massive contract. That contract is going to shape most of the pitching market.
  8. It is risky, but the Rangers have lots of money. 8 million is nothing to them. Why not take the risk?
  9. On top of that the Red Sox are interested in trading Ellsbury now that they have Victorino and are also interested in signing Eric Chavez.
  10. Aren't they both 3/39? Those are great deals, in my view, for solid guys. The Red Sox are playing smart this time around by keeping deals under 4 years. Those are not crazy dollars spent. I like the Napoli deal. Victorino was probably overpaid a little bit.
  11. But the Red Sox have a crap ton of money after unloading all the contracts. What harm does a 3 year deal do? In the Grand Scheme of things to the Red Sox a 3 year deal is harmless. A bad deal is a bad deal, no matter who makes it... Teams like the Red Sox are just able to overcome bad deals more easily than most teams like the Twins. Thats what i was saying Seth. I dont know if you you misinterpreted what i meant.
  12. Haha those guys are like John Madden with Brett Favre!
  13. He is probably right, not going to argue there.
  14. So your saying that BJ Uptons contract and Victorinos dont show how much value CFs have? Not to mention what Josh Hamilton is about to get and what Bourne is going to get.
  15. Joakim Soria just sign a 2 year 8 million dollar deal with the Rangers with an option for 2015. If Soria can return to anything close to what he was with the Royals thats a steal. Joakim setting up for Nathan....wow.
  16. But the Red Sox have a crap ton of money after unloading all the contracts. What harm does a 3 year deal do? In the Grand Scheme of things to the Red Sox a 3 year deal is harmless.
  17. I would say give him a 1 year deal worth close to Harens just like you said. But I would also have a team option for a 2nd year, but im sure some team out there will be desperate enough to give him a 3 year deal.
  18. My assumption is it would be Cleveland... Agent speak to get people interested, but I'm sure when Cleveland non-tendered, they 'informally' made him a low offer. But yeah, could definitely be Minnesota or Chicago. Indians are interested in getting a 3rd baseman and they have had contact with Kevin Youkilis with the possibility of him playing first base. Im going to say that Youk would like to go to Cleveland and might even take less money in order to reunite with Francona.
  19. Red Sox Signed Shane Victorino to a 3 year 39 million dollar deal. Obviously CFs are highly valued this year and I honestly think Span is better than Victorino and they only reason the Twins only got Meyers for Span was due to his injuries. If he would have been 100% healthy last year im absolutely positive the Twins could have got much more for him.
  20. I like your thinking. Stick him in the Pen for a year, teach him a change up. Cant be any worse than some of the guys we had at the start of the year last year in the bullpen.
  21. I can already see "Shooter Nows" Headline...TWINS SIGN SOLID MAJOR LEAGUE 3RD BASEMAN FROM MINNESOTA. Dear lord, if the Twins plan on using him as a utility IF I dont mind at all but their is no way he should challenge Plouffe for playing time or even take any ABs away from him.
  22. Exactly right. He isnt the missing link. As much as I would like Cabrera to be a fixture a SS, its not worth mortgaging the future.
  23. Except there really aren't any frontline pitchers. There are a bunch of #3s that people are touting better than that and Zach Grienke. So get used to this. I think Sanchez is a #2 to be honest as is Haren. Jackson and Marcum are sort of on the fringe of being good #3's as well. Which is better than anything we have. So lets go after em!
  24. Twins also are kicking the tires on Vincente Padilla.....Joe Blanton....Vincente Padilla....Are you kidding me! This must be one sick sick joke Jerry Crasnick....one sick joke...
  25. exactly. Im sure he will have a couple teams believing he can be the pitcher he was a few years back. Why not give him a call, if he wants to much...just pass.
